actually it isn't because after trying it i won about $150 and then lost it all, so i think it's fine.

Its all about wise betting and odds. Like all gambling really. Bet little when you have little, and bet sensibly when you have alot. So when you lose it doesnt put you on your ass.

texas hold 'em is a different story (depending on your style of play), but for blackjack its best to think the above.
