    NDS DSwifiTV 0.002 beta

    News/release from bboyzahid

As you know, DS is already capable of streaming audio, so i thought why not video?

If this project is successful, it should be able to stream live tv on the ds.

I'm not much of a programmer so i'll need help creating this.

If I remember correctly the ds wifi library isn't very fast, I really doubt you could stream video at any usable bitrate.

Yeah, I haven't even been able to get music streaming properly without needing to buffer every 15 seconds, so I doubt video would be possible.

As the Nintendo DS libwifi doesn't support IP fragmenting, it won't be possible to have a decent video framerate/buffering. the DS can stream audio, and that's about it.

yeah... no chance. it would be sweet if it were possible, but the ds's wifi is too slow for this. in future models maybe...

"this guy knows no programming language"

He seems to have done a good enough job already.
True, he might not have managed to get things working as advertised, but he has done the following..

    A) Learned C
    B) Learned PALib (I think)
    C) Learned Networking
    D) Learned Audio Steaming
    E) Had to deal with the DS's slow Networking.
    F) Had to deal with the DS's audio buffer.

And quite frankly, that's a ****ing lot.

If he couldn't code before, then watch him like a hawk, because he's learning pretty damn fast...

Erm, I'd hate to rain on the parade here, but everything I've read suggests that watching decent quality streaming video on the DS isn't going to happen.

The fastest transfer rate I've seen over Wifi if around 120kB/s, to fit a video and audio stream into that would be very hard indeed.
