    Default Sega's PSP Brain Teaser

New PSP title is not a ripoff of Nintendo's similar DS game.

Nintendo has been making waves recently with its adult-oriented DS lineup that offers game experiences tailored to non gamer types. Most recently, the company's Nou wo Kitaeru Otona no DS Training has proved an unstoppable hit at retail, with many attributing continued strong DS sales in part to this game.

The DS title was created under the supervision of Touhoku College's Ryuuta Kawashima, a researcher who deals with brain imaging. Nintendo apparently forgot to sign Kawashima to an exclusivity contract, as he's now working on a PSP title similar to the DS game: Sega's Nouryoku Trainer Portable (Thought Trainer Portable).
First announced at Sony's recent PlayStation Meeting conference, Nouryoku Trainer offers players a number of activities designed to hone their thought process. In the game's training mode, you answer questions using quick input via the PSP's four face buttons. The game lets you chose the genre, difficulty and number of questions. You'll find mathematics and pattern-based questions, with your performance leading the a determination of your current brain level.

It may appear that Sega copied Nintendo's idea with this title, but the origins of the PSP game actually lie in an original Sega property. Back in October of 2004, Sega Toys released Nouryoku Trainer, an electronic device that went on to be a big hit. The PSP title is apparently based on this.

Sega plans to release Nouryoku Trainer Portable on 10/20. Development is being handled by Sega Toys.
