Though this isn't surprising, considering that XNA may help reduce costs.

Ignore the price guides. This market is going to get very nasty and the consumer is going to get some very good bargains at the cost of Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo although the hardware is relatively cheap cannot give a good price for the software (one of the failures for the Gamecube?).

I have a load of Xbox games and I have not paid retail for any of them. Microsoft has been very forward in bringing the cost of console gaming down in the UK after the initial boo-boo of overpricing the Xbox on release day.

Sony on the other hand have frequently given "spoiler" incentives whenever the opposition make a move.

PS2 price drop in the month before Xbox and Gamecube release.
GT4 and Metal Gear Solid 3 both released at 29 quid the day before Nintendo launched the DS.

Co-incidence? Well watch for PS2 dropping in price this Christmas is that because Sony likes us or is it because of Microsoft's 360?

One thing is for sure the battle between PS3/360/Revolution will be resolved by one thing alone... who has the deepest pockets: Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony?
