    Unhappy Broken D-pad

I think I broke my d-pad at work today. I know I have a 90 day warranty on it, but if I send it back to Sony will they update my firmware, which I really starting not to care about because the only game i love more than mario tennis is about to come out soon. Madden. Not even so much madden but the football seaason kinda just takes things over around this time of year....but anyway, before I start to drawl. Should I try and fix it myself or just send it to Sony? I mean I should be that hard i think that the rubber thingy under ther d-pad buttons came unseated somehow.
