i doubt the pspkvm api is good enough to support any advanced stuff.. plus java is generally very slow.. so don't expect any ports anytime soon
im from spain and have and idea, maybe a good idea or not.
it will be posible to use a new psp utility called "PSPKVM" wich give JAVA to our PSPs to make a port of some GPS-mobile-software, and use the official GPS receiver from Sony???

GPS(JSR179) supporting is in its roadmap, but I need some docs for PSP GPS homebrew. Could you please help to point me where to find the information about howto access GPS device in PSP homebrew? Once I get some info I'll start working on a Java implementation of GPS (i.e. JSR179).
Regarding to Java performance, since many 104MHz ARM9 cell phone can ran JSR179 applications (e.g. Google MAP), I don't think PSP has porformance problem.
