    Smile Neo4All/AES FAQ & Tutorial

Merry Xmas from Dreamcast-Scene.com and DCEvolution.net!

I compiled a full blown Tutorial / FAQ for the great Neo4All/AES emulator by Chui & Fox68K that should cover all questions that you might have about this godess of an NeoGeo MVS/AES emulator for Dreamcast!

    http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/index...in/Neo4All-AES

The info will soon be added the DCEvolution's Emulation Knowledge Base too.

    Thanks

Regarding Shock Troppers, NeoBomberman, Pulstar, Blazing Star, Magical Drop3: Remember that there are different ROM sets out there - some of them might not be supported by the AES converter.

Try to find older versions of the ROMs (either MAME or NeoRageX if you got Kairo's ROMRC update)

My version of SNK vs Capcom has the same problem as you described. You can't select your character :-/
..but the loading only is annoying during the 1st Round, the following Rounds are perfectly playable

I was finally able to use this emu aswell using that tutorial. Here i found the same problems as the others but i found using pause for a few seconds during battles would speed the process a bit. To select other characters hold start and use the dpad and that should work. Other then that the emulator is amazing.

Can MAME roms be used to play on this? or specifically neo geo roms?

Supported are MAME and now even some NeoRageX-ROM sets. The ROM sets need to be converted to a special AES format but it's pretty easy: Head over to the tutorial and download Kairo Hayime's ROMRC update along with DrCacho's converter GUI.

Eric: Thanks for the workaround regarding the SNK vs Capcom bug! I will add that to the FAQ asap

Thanks for the heads-up C.U.L. I did the tutorial of course I messed up a couple of times especially with finding the bioses (and no people I'm not telling. just follow his advice.) the ng-lo.rom bios was somewhat annoying to find but i did it. anyway I noticed that 3 count bout had some graphic issues and slowdown which is funny since i found it to be under 16 megs also could one of the problems of prefetching be attributed to sound? I shut off the sound in metal slug x and the emu ran very fast.

The graphics bugs are related with a new (encrypted) MAME ROM set. Try to find a older MAME set.

Of course does disabling the sound help with the in-game loading: The emu will avoid loading any of the effects/voices and that reduces the loading (times and length).

@Everyone: If you delete 'aes.mod' and the *.wav files from your discs /NEO4ALL/ folder, it'll definitly help the prefetched games to work properly by freeing some KBytes of valuable DC RAM! Check the section in my tutorial about the needed disc structure.

Nice tutorial Chris, many thanks and hope you'll contribute to the DCKB in the same fashion, catch you later at the DreamZone (when I get the chance).
