October 24th, 2005, 07:41
Fanjita (http://www.fanjita.org/psp.html) has updated his Eboot Loader for use on V2.0 Consoles only, heres whats new:

v0.7:
- Implement simple internal memory manager, hooked onto firmware memory
management, to boost memory pool available to applications.
- Hook thread allocation and exit, to allow for clean return to the
loader from applications that support an Exit option.
- Improve code signature algorithm to distinguish between similar EBOOTs
(fixes mis-identification of Casino Addict as SMS emulator).
- Added overclocking option : use left and right trigger buttons when
choosing file to change CPU speed.
- Add NID resolution for Sircs function : enables PSP IR Remote function.
- Add USB stubs to user-mode LUA, and better debug info in case of script
errors.
- Added left and right DPAD support in file-chooser, to go to the start
and end of the list
- Now supports more than 20 files in a directory
- Found pathname hack to run PSP Rhythm Composer.
- Improved cache flushing, should improve reliability
- Added safeguard to prevent PSPSet from being run and bricking 2.0.

New Working EBOOTs in this release:
- Attack of the Mutants 0.3
- Bookr 0.6 (PDF support works fine now)
- Casino Addict (was broken in 0.6)
- Freecell
- NeoCDPSP 0.1

Omg! this is super news to me!!! since i have firmware 2.0 im so limited.. last loader v6 only managed to work with the sms emulator but this version rocks and lets me use the snes emulator.. i dont know if its perfect but it seems good enough to me.. just tested out super mario world and it runs well.. good job people!!!!!!!

One more question.. the emulator seems to run must better and faster upping the cpu clock speed to 333mhz.. testing turtles in time. i just want to know is it safe doing this on my psp or do i have to keep the cpu click speed minimal?

vincesecuricor2005

overclocking my pc eventually smoked it but for a lot of emulators you have to set it to 333 or they just aint worth ur time, personally i always overclock its worth it and nobody has said there psp bricked cos of it so its up 2 personal preference really....................the red pill, or the blue.

333mhz is actually the PSP's true processor speed. It just runs on 222mhz with most commercial games because running at 333mhz really eats away battery power fast. I belive Sony was going to release an SDK for developers that let them program games that use all 333mhz the moment they get a better battery. At least that's what I've heard.

In short: The PSP's running underclocked with most games, so 333mhz isn't overclocking. I believe running it at 333mhz is simply called running it "uncapped". Or something along those lines.

thanks for the replies bud. i was so tempted to downgrade my psp but is it just worth it just to play emulators since most aint 100% perf yet.. at this moment in time i rather just stick to v2.0 cuz sooner or later versions will work better with the loader. but about the overclocking speed thing? 1'm not feeling 100% safe now i thought about it and by wot u said about ur pc and its poss to happen on the psp. just have to wait for future releases of the emulators and stuff. :-) i can always play snes games on my pc and ps2 anyways.

i demand you downgrade sweetboy (joke) no but seriously as far as im concerned downgradin is safe i done my own 1.52 uk psp up to 2.00 the down to 1.50 twice and five others belonging to my family and friends and am 100% confident in it i could help you if u r worried by pm or even by phone if ur in the uk ITS WORTH IT and as with the overclocking ive done it for hours at a time on my psp and no probs so ........red or blue

Sweetboy
October 25th, 2005, 00:26
ooh ok. thanks for the info, that makes its seems alot safer to me now. ye ur right it would eat away the battery faster i just have to test to see how fast it eats away the battery

AND REPLY TO ED00, ive just tried the pspgenesis and it didnt work for me..

October 25th, 2005, 00:30
any probs jus pm me or whatever and good luck if you choose the way of the red pill and take that life changing step of downgrading BUT remember this 1 pearl of widom after a succesful downgrading make sure u r ready with a version changer such as that by wab as if in the uk the only game u will be able to play without a version tricker being used is spider man 2 and THAT my friend really WOULD suck

October 25th, 2005, 00:30
AHHH! stop with the red or blue pill thingy!!! lol! ive had the downgrader prog for a week now on my comp but...... unless these emulators work better on speed n such without using the loader then im not guna bother.. i personally like the wall paper feature as ive got FF7 advent children *cloud as my wallpaper it so makes my psp look so much funkier.

p.s why did u need to upgrade and downgrade 6 times? in the end run doing this will eventulally do sumfing to ur psp so ive read somewhere on here.

Any ideas?

Squarez v. 0.8 does work. Can anyone tell me is PSPGenesis works (my lifeline!)

Squarez v0.8 does work, perfectly.

You're probably trying to use the very latest version (0.8.1 or similar), the one that introduced wifi support. That version won't work because it uses kernel-mode.

Just became a member to post this...

First of all great work Fanjita :D , I live in Europe and am in college. The wireless login page here prevents me from downgrading (can´t access with my legit wipeout pure  ) so I'm stuck with 2.0 for the browser

I'm really looking forward for a new release and even more so for the final kernel one (do you think there're still many months ahead?)

Amyways here is what I want to say. I've only tested snes9xtyl 0.1, sms 0.4, nesterj 1.07, bookr 0.6 and rin 1.32. They all work fine except for rin.

Rin sometimes loads and other times doesn't. Sometimes when it loads it has a strange background noise. Other times it's completely functional

I´ve tried different download places but get the same results. The directory is fine and the roms are good dumps passed with goodtools (downloaded from Emu-Russia)

I just wanted to warn you (if you're not aware already) that there are still issues with rin

Keep the loadders coming. Cheers

Quick question, anyone know how well the neogeo emulator works?

No slowdowns, because once the app is running it's basically the same as if it was on 1.5.

In some cases you might see a speed increase, because the loader allows you to clock the CPU up to 333 MHz - so if the emu doesn't support overclocking itself, the results will be better than on 1.5.

Urchin,

that is really great, I´m looking very much forward to it. And yes, C64 emulation is without a question the most important thing with the PSP, imho.

It's not about a single game. Over the past few weeks, I've been playing Uridium, Commando, Wizball, ThingOnASpring, Space Harrier, P.O.D, Bruce Lee and many, many more. I've even been playing some games I never played on my real C64 :)

To me, homebrew (both using and creating) and the huge number of C64 games totally outweigh my desire to play GTA.

I totally agree with that. Not just for the C64 stuff, but all the awesome emulator and homebrew in general. I personally have no desire to buy one commercial game after another only to find many stink or just don't keep the attention very long. For instance Wipe Out Pure, looked great and previews sounded cool, not very fun to play at all imo. Burnout and Ridge Racer are much more fun. Maybe it's just because of the futuristic vehicles?

Your already being worshipped for getting c64 onto the 1.5s, now i would be eternally grateful when you get c64 onto the 2.0s, bruce lee, manic miner, robocop, super pipeline, decathlon, summer camp, creatures, revenge of the mutant camels, turricans and x-out. Man i cant wait!

100% in agreeance on this. I was getting bored of homebrew till recently. I dont think I've used my psp as much since buying it :)

I've been hammering commando, goonies, treasure island/fantasy world dizzy, boulderdash, pitfall2 and impossible mission like mad... little computer people wont run though :(

Great work, hope to see a 2.0 version out soon so I can update and play GTA.

I just installed this and got NesterJ working. All I did to make my roms folder show up is have it located in the folder with the Nester J eboot. Note i did have a problem with no folders showing up the first time i tryed because i didn't copy the files that came with the eboot, the background and there was one other one. I don't know if this helps but i hope it does.

This isn't working for me. As soon as I go into photos, my PSP crashes and shows a bunch of characters. I tried doing the stuff that the official site said to do in the DOS prompt to fix this, but the commands weren't right. Help, anyone!?

If someone could just zip the Eboot Loader v0.7 with ScummVM, and the best emulators (all in the right file structure) that would be superb...
