its 99.9% chance it will work there have been 3 bricks out of hundreds just read the readme and do exactly what it says...and dont ask/discuss isos or ull have to deal w/ the mods

i own a uk psp-1003 and i bought it when it came out it already had 1.52 built in and hers my firmware order, 1.52 to 2.00 to 1.50 to 2.5 then 2.6 and NOW thanks to this downgrader i am back at 1.50

I cant belive this is out! I used to have a 2.0 but had to upgrade to 2.6 to play SOCOM. So I thought "I should get 2.71 so I can play games and see flash". As soon as I updated...2.6 kernel mode is hacked and an downgrader is released. So...this is it $ony...im sellin my PSP and gettin a pre modded one xP

I don't mean to ask any n00b questions, but I am REALLY Scared at this point, my handz are shakin...

My PSP has the letter G on the box, which means it had v2.01 when it started out, but then I upgraded to v2.6... I determined that it has, on the left side of the umd drive, upside down, the letters IC6001 on it, so that would make it a TA-081 I believe?

Also, I only have 1 memory stick, and it's 32mb... kinda small, and I heard that the 32mb does not have enough space to do this,

so anyway, where can I get a v1.5 firmware dump that WORKS? Thanks please...

If you had a psp that was 1.5 to begin with an is a U.S version psp-hacks has a file with everything included...thats the one I used! Anything else I can not confirm.

hey hopefully u c this before u try it make SURE to rename the file containing the EBOOT.PBP tp DOWNDATERTEST not DownDater if u download the file from psp-hacks and everything sould go smooth

People are warned of the risks before they downgrade :( This is no offence to anyone.
But do people take those warnings as a joke or something? Thinking that bricking cant possibly happen to them?! I feel for those people that did lose there psp's, But when you take a risk, you dont always come out on top :( Thats why it called a risk...

I know things look grim, But dont lose hope. With the rate of bricked psp's now reaching numbers it has never reached before, More talented people will be sreaching for ways to Unbrick them. (So never lose hope guys)

*optional information. Ive heard that in some instances once can get a bricked psp to boot by shorting the battery, (This is just a roumor I heard tho I dont know if its true)

For those of you that dont know what shorting a battery would be, Its just crossing the connectors with a thin peice of wire.

yes the downgrade should work
its best to have it fully charged
and formatting your ms wont matter

www.psp-hacks.com Go to the downloads section then firmware and look for 2.60. If you had 2.50 when it came then u have to upgrade to 2.60. And yeah u can use the 2.60 zip from psp-hacks.com. It doesnt matter wat region its from. Hope that helped ya. ;)

One problem though.....I have no idea what to do now with it. It would be cool if someone experienced started up a new thread helping all us new 1.5ers get up and running.
Im really confused now... those 3 or 4 minuits of blackness were so frightening. My heart was pounding so hard lol!

yeh the final version is the same pretty much except it tells u if the adapter isn't plugged in(not sure if prevents u from downgradin if its not), and it doesn't leave all the logs on ur MS, the outcome should be the same, remember to charge ur battery to 100% and keep it plugged into the adapter :D

I would like to know how much space the FINAL version of the downgrader takes up and how much free space is left on the memory stick as I only have a 32mb :(

Why would you want to do this when you can play the GTA UMD by loading it through Devhook on a 1.5?

Can someone put up exactly what files are supposed to be in each of the folders because I'm finding slightly different guides...My biggest question is if all I need is the downdater folder I can bet from psp hacks and the downdatertest folder? The guide here asks for this:


This folder should contain two folders and two files:

Go to www.psp-hacks.com and get the 2.50 or 2.60 zip package with all files included which are necessary.

drag and drop all the files from the zip to the memory stick,(first reformat the stick) then reinstall the e-boot loader, then make sure that the battery is full and the psp is plugged to the ac adapter.
then let it go. and presto, all done,

I bought a psp for my son and it came with the V2.60 firmware.

I've downloaded the relevant files to downgrade the firmeare but the guide states that in the root directory you will find a folder called psp (so far so good) and then it states that in this folder you go to the games folder.

I don't have a games folder, i have a savedata folder and a system folder.

The save data folder relates to world tour soccer. The system file i supposed is just part of the psp set up.


Can anybody help me as i bought a couple of disks of ebay with a load of games on that my son really waiting to play.


I'm using a 32meg card if this is relevant.

damn! i broke my GTA UMD the other day & i updated to 2.6..dnt ask y! (iv always had a version 1.5) ok can i downgrade my 2.6 WITHOUT the GTA UMD or can i use my friends GTA USA version??....my psp was bought in jap if that helps..

inside PSP, you make a folder called GAME. since it came with 2.6 it probably wont work. look inside the UMD drive. in the top right corner you see a little green, if you dont see any writing your good, otherwise it will brick your psp

What are the chances of getting your PSP bricked? I really want to play homebrew games, but I love my PSP and use it as my MP3 player. Is there any chance that the maker will be passing an update to take away any chance of bricking? Also, I have a Japanese PSP. Will it work on that?

For people wondering:
To tell if your PSP is a TA-082, open your UMD drive and look into the top right corner, where you see a little green. If there is writing there, then it's a TA-082, and you cannot downgrade for now. :(

For the love of GOD, please look at the dates on a thread before you post and dig up 3 month old threads.

There are much easier and safer downgraders out there, first get the official 2.71 update then use the easy 2.71 downgrader. Anyone know exactly where to find these is welcome to post up, but I can't be arsed to do it right now, too busy converting my psx games. :D
