hey animekid, there is a thread that has a link to an easy downgrader. the downgrader explains evrything you need to know and it will install all the files in theie correct places. i suggest you go with the full version of the downgrader :)

i just keep getting a freeze right as my psp opens the xmb photoviewer (ghosting and you can kinda make out the other xmb buttons in the back

ive done it about 50+ times

however i just noticed something, my psp never once just ddnt work it froze and it automaticly turned off

also right before it powers down i hear a faint chime anyone else hear this?

it actually opened the photoviewer a few times but then froze when i hit anything

all i can say is i disagree with these ppl saying we should all bow before the coders who made this and to donate for the bricked psps

umm several people bricked what about them? i understand theyre not responsible but when everyone in the forums and thier grandma says "YAAY IT WORKS TY!!!!)

and then 3 or 4 brick everyone ignores them? i read all 55 pages and everyone who bricked was ignored for upwards of 10 pages

Just that apparently after the couple of times it freezes when you go to the XMB photo viewer it is meant to show the red screen but I have tried so many times now and it still isn't working.

i assume by IC003 u are actually referring to TA-082 mobos. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO DOWNGRADE! It will result in a 100% brick cos that particular mobo rejects any files below 1.52

Perfect update! Just as it said! I was pretty bummed when I flashed to 2.71. My brother in law wanted to downgrade too. Hope he wasn't an unlucky bum who upgraded to 8.0!

an eloader is a program that sneaks in erm...unofficial codes and allows those programs to run. By unofficial, i mean any eboot.pbp that do not have Sony's encryption code =/

the uses of the eloader is barely a fraction of that if u downgrade. Once u have 1.5, u won't even need the elaoder and u can launch games off the XMB with a lot of cool apps that require kernal mode like IR Shell. An elaoder is not out for 2.70 and 2.71 yet though. Moreover, eloader may have compatability issues, namely some homebrew aren't running though they shud. In a nutshell, eloader can't hold a candle to fw1.5

If u're really scared of bricking, here are some tips u may wanna use
#1. plug in your psp with the AC adapter and of cos make sure the batt is above 50%. This reduces the risk of bricking as there were cases when the batt ran out when flashing was in progress and it resulted in a brick

#2 if ur psp still has warranty, u may need to lie a little to get a refund or replacement if it ever bricks. In the event that u get a replacement, it will most likely be the newest firmware and a ta-082 mobo. the thing to do then is to sell it off and buy yourself a 1.5

I'm told it has all the files i need..?

it's instructions are:

1. Copy the files inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
2. Wait someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memstick.
3. It is recomended that you have the psp at more than 50% batteery and connected to AC
4. Go to the xmb photo viewer.
At this point will one of the following things:
* You'll see a full red screen. This indicates that the downdater is doing its job. Wait for it to finish.
When it finish it will crash on purpose. Restart your psp manually and you'll probably have a 1.50 if nothing went wrong.
* You don't see the red screen. This indicates that the downdater code has not started to execute.
(even if the memstick blinks(or no), it doesn't matter! if the screen is not red, you can safely restart the psp at this point).

This happen because of inestability in the tiff.

Don't worry, just restart the psp and keep trying until you reach the red screen of downdate. The downdater code is NEVER executed partially. It's either executed totally or nothing.

It depends of "luck" but usually the downdater will start to execute in a average of 1/10 times. Things that may increase the probabilities:

- A fresh formatted memory stick.
- A 32 MB memory stick (and fresh formatted)

but wth does "Wait someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memstick."

This downgarder works. I upgraded from 1.5 to test this downgrader. I used the easy downgrader. It froze on the first try but the second try worked after reseting my psp.

Well i followed directions exactly and it took me three ties to get the red screen and then the psp shut off.

I couldnt turn it on so i poped out the battery and now when i turn it on light goes green and a whole lotta nuttin happens :( so now i have a brick.

Do i have any options besides a $110cdn mod chip when a used psp is $170 at ebgames? Would be awsome if you could buy the eeproms with 1.5 already on them, would be alot cheeper as well and sence the modchip requires surface soldering might as well just put on a new chip...

Hey, Im running on 2.6 atm and im kinda new at this whole thing... i usualy update using my wifi connection but its down. I figure now it would be too late to do it that way anyway since they realesed the 2.8 firmware. So i searched for a download for 2.71 and found something that seems like it would be it. Its says EBOOT.PBP on it. Can you tell me if this is indeed the right firmware and how to instal it if it is. thanks

if you want to upgrade first if it says 2.71 it is prolly 2.71

put eboot.pbp in your psp memory stick like this

root>psp>game> make a new folder called UPDATE (all caps)

put eboot.pbp in that and then turn on ur psp and go to game and memory stick and you should see an icon saying psp update 2.71

if it doesnt say 2.71 then its not a real 2.71 update

choose it and lauch the upgrader and do what you did last time and there u go ^^

Just used Downgrader2.71FULL.exe to get 1.50 from 2.71.

It worked perfect 1st time.
Used UK PSP with a 64mb card. Been too nervous for 2 weeks to try but it was worth the wait. I heard I should update to 2.00 and back to 1.50 for a 'clean' version. Any ideas of the best way to do that? Is it safer than other downdaters. Also what is best to get me started? Devhook or do you need something else first? i bricked my cousins psp.run the photo,screen went red straight away,then i could see memory stick flashing for about 7-8 secs,after that psp went off.when i restarted it screen didn't go off and green power light was lit for about 10 seconds,then psp switched of...propably no chances getting it back to normal...except buying a mod chip.oh,and psp wasn't ta-082...

I wound up bricking my PSP with that downgrader. However, I may well have used the one that didn't have the bugfix because my machine was rigged up the the mains outlet and the battery fully charged. Doesn't matter though because the it was second hand and the fist person who owned it didn't treat it with respect.

Right now I have a black PSP to replace the bricked one and got another withe one too. Both were non- TA-82 systems and the downgrade on each unit were successful using the 2.71 - 1.50 downgrader (bugfix). I took it a step further and made the black PSP Firmware version 1.00. Kept white one on 1.50 to run Devhook 0.46 - one of the greatest applications ever!

Why do you need someone with V1.50 PSP, you can downgrade using the official SONY V1.50 UPDATE, thats if your on V.271 and have HEN C installed on it, I talked someone through the whole thing, as they were on 2.50, so he updated to V.271, then installed HEN C, then used the 2.71 downgrader with the official SONY V1.50 UPDATE, worked great.

That link in your post is old, the new downgrader can use the official updates untouched, meaning you dont need someone with a V1.50 to prepare the downdater files.
Before even considering it, make sure you aint got a TA- main board

I installed it and it worked fine, but then I tried to cop > paste the 'Ultimate Emulator package' from another thread and now NONE of my emus work. Devhook disappeared as well. What am I doing wrong?

Just go for the generic downgrader as it doesn't require any dumped firmware files and it formats the flash so you get a clean install.All you need is the 1.5 eboot which is widely available.I've used it and it works great.

I've down everything right. The screen goes red and resets. When I check what firmware version I have it says 2.71 still. Obviously I'm doing something wrong...

You just have to try again as the downgrader is based on the unstable TIFF exploit. If the screen did go red but you didn't land up with a brick, you probably just got lucky.

i had to do the picture thing about 4 times but i finally got the red screen - it was like that for only a few min when the psp screen went black and then as per the instructons i restarted the psp

now the screen does not come on and it just consantantly shows the little light for the memeory stick going a fast blink then stop a fast blink then stop a fast blink then stop and nothing has happened and it has been 12 hours.

is my psp bricked?

what could i have done wrong?
is there any way to recover?

If the screen doesn't not light up at all then you have landed up with a complete brick.

mann.... u definately did something rong... red screen means that an error occured. and HEND writes to flash0 unfortunately..

No, I believe that HEND writes to the RAM. But I'm not sure. Hmm... the red screen usually siginfies an error. But it's definitely not a brick. In fact, I had to go through it several times before I got the green screen.

i hear yall be getting alot of bircks downgrading a 2.71, you can upgrade it to 3.03 and then downgrade it to 1.5 with the GTA liberty city and it will never brick.

If you don't have a ta-082 mobo, just skip the idstoragechange part. I've used the ta-082 dg about 3 times, all worked like a charm, but I've seen many bricks with this non-ta-082 dg.
