i am kind of having a problem i havent got any to get past the Loadning... Text
This is how i have it setup =
Psp / Game / __SCE__ps1p --and-- %__SCE__ps1p
__SCE__ps1p / Eboot.pbp --and-- scph1001.bin --and-- crash.iso
Is that how you guys have it ??
One more question I read it works loading iso files but does it work loading bin files to ?

Great to see this released. This is a big time for PSP homebrew. Thanks for the hard work put into making this happen. I support this Emulator fully and hope it continues and evolves for many months to come.
Would anyone happen to know the best way to compress PS1 ISO's in a format that this EMU can read? What program should I use?
Any help would be appreciated.
Vega
November 26th, 2006, 08:50
Here is a savestate for the PAL version of Final Fantasy 7. I noticed the savestate given with the emulator would not load on my PAL rip of FF7... this one does.
It is saved at the first save point... and you can trust me with this... because I had to freakin download ePSXE to save the damn thing. Anyway.. was worth it ;)
So now you have no excuse for not enjoying FF7 .

Are you sure of what version (pal or ntsc) you have ? just dump the savestate in the same folder with your ISO and BIOS

November 26th, 2006, 09:00
Im using Alcohol 120% to create my images, but for some reason the app can make iso's for some games and other not...
For FF7 and legend of dragoon it could make iso's, but for lunar silverstar story it only had a .mdr file type, as well as for Front mission 3 and rayman.
Anyone have a name of another app i could try for those games?

Guys... Why doesn't my psp1P work correctly?
So I've putted Tekken 3 and Celebrity deathmatch. I putted the % to 1000, now whenever I press on O it sayes loading game ...
I waited 10 min. but still the same screen, what am I doing wrong?
Anger
November 26th, 2006, 11:43
i agree, it is a very good release. it does have some way to go but it is a promising start.
heres my compatability report so far:
jumping flash - refuses to load (ms light blinks all the time - couldnt be bothered waiting more than 5 mins)
ridge racer revolution - crashes after loading game screen.
air combat - crashes same place.
tony hawks - as above.
ridge racer - perfect except a very slight clipping at the cliffs where the park is. also very slow.
in short it is about the same level as that other guys emu, including speed. the only thing i find different so far is ridge racer is near perfect in this one.
keep up the good work, continue to beat the shit out of sony please. :)

It seems that the main problems are coming from the videos in games.
What we need is some way to rip them out . . . . properly. I tried a few programs but they end up making the ripped ISO not even load up. Strange.

How the heck are you going to downsample the videos?
Tell me if that works out, since AFAIK you can't just open a PSX video in Windows Movie Maker or something, let alone re-encode it and keep it working later...
edit: another thing, the game will probably stop working the moment you take the ISO apart and rebuild it later. Just to help you, the ISO should be built as mode2xa afterwards. Even then, I'm pretty sure it won't work anymore.

November 26th, 2006, 15:03
i remember reading long ago that pacmanfan had something to say about removing videos from psx iso's. to get the file size down u could put a dummy file in with the same name etc so it all linked/matched up and remove the humungous vids.
this emu release is gonna prove healthy competition for yoshi and psxp...hopefully itll spur each of them on to bigger and better things. fingers crossed.....
or perhaps sony will remove its thumb from its ass and get its shit together on this psone emu.

Use something else to extract it :) I used PowerArchiver and it works fine, and I'm sure WinRar should work fine.
If it doesn't work, try clearing your internet cache and downloading again.
Anyhow, all I have to say is NICE RELEASE!!! Final Fantasy 7 is VERY playable. Only problem is, in game movies seem to freeze the emulator :( But that's not fatal, you can get past the movies in an emulator :)

Put the two folders (__SCE__ps1p and %__SCE__ps1p) in the GAME150 (or the GAME folder, for 1.50 users) folder. In the __SCE__psp1p folder, you MUST put the bios file (SCPH1001.BIN) and the roms/games. No need to make new folders, just put it all in there..

how do you work it? help plz i dumb:(
You need a firmware 1.5 or 2.71SE PSP, then you put the two folders in PSP/GAME for firmware 1.5, or PSP/GAME150 for firmware 2.71SE. You then put your BIOS (named "scph1001.bin") and your image in the folder without the % ;)

HOW TO INSTALL THE EMULATOR AND PLAY PS1 GAMES
This Tutorial is written for people using Dark Alex's 2.71 SE firmware. If you dont have it, why not? its the best for homebrew. note you cannot run 2.71 SE on a TA psp.
YOU CANNOT USE PS1P IF YOU HAVE FIRMWARE 3.00 OR 3.01
YOU WILL HAVE A HARD TIME IF YOUR MEMORY STICK IS LESS THAN 1GB
1. Download the emulator files from page one of this thread
2.Search google for 'SCPH1001.BIN', or find a tutorial on how to dump the bios from your own playstation (hard)
3.Download Clone CD (http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html).
4.insert a playstation disk to your computer.
5.start up Clone CD, click 'try it' at the dialog that pops up. you should see 2 windows, one with buttons, one with text.
6.Click 'Read image to file', the one with a CD and some glasses.
7.Right click in the white area, and click new. Name it PSX or something.
8.select PSX you just made and click next. click browse and choose a location to extract to (I use desktop)
9.Click ok and let it run. this may take a while. You want to use the .img file at the end.
10.OK. you should have the following:
- __SCE__psp1p (folder)
- %__SCE__psp1p% (folder)
- SCPH1001.BIN
- YourGame.IMG
11.Put the .BIN file and the .IMG file inside the __SCE__psp1p folder.
12.Put the __SCE__psp1p folder and %__SCE__psp1p% folder on your psp under:
[DRIVE]/PSP/GAME150
13.on the psp menu, goto GAME>MEMORY STICK>PS1P
14.when it starts up press circle to play your game.
Dont forget,
-NOT ALL GAMES WORK
-THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SOUND
-POST YOUR RESULTS (and thanks) HERE TO HELP OTHERS

Also, I timed it against my gp2x with the latest psx4all at 266mhz, and this was only a couple fps faster, but lot choppier.

Hmm... Does anyone use HEN-C and Devhook for 2.71 to emulate 1.50 from the official 2.71 release? And if so, has anyone gotten FFVII to work?
I'm using it to emulate 1.50, and although I have my own rip of FFVII (PAL) and the SCPH1001 BIOS, I can't seem to get anywhere further than "Loading game..."
Yeah, it's similar to all those who haven't been able to get it to work but I'm posting my precise situation, one which I haven't seen while glancing the thread

Alundra
Status: Works, but gameplay is slow.
Castlevania: SOTN
Status: Unable to play because of corrupted graphics.
FF7
Status: Works, but gameplay is slow.
Castlevania Chronicles
Status: Doesn't work because the memory stick continues flashing and screen goes black after selecting "yes" on the "End load operations?" screen.
For all the games that are running slow, I can't determine the fps.

so far ive been ripping in clone CD, testing them on epsxe, putting them on PS1P, and watching them crash.
Games that have not worked for me:
-Tomb Raider
-Final Fantasy 8
-Civilization 2

-Cool Boarders 4
all of these games are in .IMG format and they all work fine on epsxe. I hope theyre just not compatible...

*For People Still Having Trouble With Loading Screen*
I had the problems with Staying at the Loading Screen with the BIOS in the correct spot.
I ripped my CDs into cdd files then converted them into ISO to run with MagicISO. Which didn't seem to work. So Just run your .img file and run your games and it should work.
(Most game downloads for torrents are ccd with an img so just use those and do not convert them to an iso to run. I'm gonna try to run a znx i converted from an img now and see if that thats but I don't see why it wont.

November 26th, 2006, 22:27
Nin_deftone it looks like you converted an img into another img O.o. Try just removing a single .img so it reads "Final Fantasy VII.img" and see if that works. If not try to convert the file again and make sure the output file doesnt have a .img in the name.

This emulator sucks as far as compatability as far as I'm concerned, the compatability is HORRIBLE. I give alot of credit to the coder and everything, I just think he shouldn't have released it until compatability was better. Wow FF7 works, well the whole PSX community isn't FF fans so just because this emulator can run one game that "everyone" likes it's instantly a great emulator. It doesn't run great games like Tomba! or Tomb Raider? Resident Evil 2 starts up fine but when you get to gameplay you can't move your character, a problem that should have been fixed for the release. I'm not some *** that like FF, so I'm not giving this emulator props because the compatability is HORRIBLE. I wish the "AC" all the well in future builds I just don't think he should have released it yet. Hardly any good games run on it, and I think the only reason this emulator is getting such praise because it can run FF7. Now before all the FF fans come on here and decide to "flame" me or whatever you "gamers" call making fun of someone, if you WERE'NT a FF fan what good would this emulator be in this state? I just think he released it to early, we didn't need it just yet I mean PSP-X just came out not to long ago.

And this is a perfect example of why we lose coders. Just because this is your opinion, you ever hear of keeping it to yourself and lose the negativity?
Have some goddamn appreciation. I mean, did you have to pay for this, do you really have a reason or right to complain?
This is what pisses me off about the psp scene.

So no one likes you... Besides the emulator was only oing to run 1 game till he recoded it. Besides let me see you make a better one ***git. Till then you got no room to talk. Hes put in more time so you can play it so be gratful you spoiled piece of shit.
Im a FF fan (only one game...thats 9 baby) So it dont really care if the game has some problems there fixable. For resident evil, run it on your comp and get a save at the police station. Then run it on the psp its not that hard dude. Hell a retarded mokey with any common scence could figure that out....

just stop while you're ahead, you gain nothing from arguing, many of decent people with psp's have been anxiously awaiting the ps1p and even though its not finished they appreciate it, its not like we're forcing you to download it, or itll brick your psp, i guess people were too anxious and A.C. needed to show them how much more work was needed, people were rly beginning to doubt it (even myself) so i believe that the release was desperately needed,

If I can Ill put these up on here...
Also Legend of Legia crashed before loading (but loaded on the very first psx emulator). I will also try Mortal Kombat Trilagy or however you spell it..

For people having trouble with Z and ZNX, you have to put the .table file in there as well.
For people complaining about compatibility, read the first post. I think he said there were compatibility problems and he was trying to solve them.
I'm not THAT happy either since a lot of games (I like) don't work and FF7 movies don't too--buy hey, it's PS1 on PSP for free, and that's cool :p

I thought that might be it...if I didn't have a mortal fear of Slimer I would call them right away.

Some games I've tried:
:) Working:
Bishi Bashi Special
Anna Kournikova Smash Court Tennis
:( Not working:
Medal of Honor, This Is Football 1&2, WWF Smackdown
These were all the games I could find so far! They were all in IMG format, maybe results will vary with different formats.
Posted here cuz I can't seem to post in the compatibility thread, anyone know why that might be?

I can't seem to get FF7 to work. I've made my own ISO of my CD, made my own mem card save in the reactor (using ePSXe and the ISO I just made), but it never loads past the Loading Game... screen. The only thing I can think of that's stopping it from working is it's a PAL version from Australia. Both ePSXe and PS1P are using the same BIOS file and ISO. Should I try making the image of the CD a different way or format? I used blindwrite to make the ISO.

Ok well i found a torrent called Final Fantasy VII [NTSC-US] 3CDs and i'm wondering if this 'NTSC' version works, I already have this game for my PS1, but i tried making my own ISO with a mounting program and it did'nt work... :P
Anyway under info for the iso it says
-CD1-
Image type: CloneCD (.ccd .img .sub)
Image size: 741MB
Compressed size: 486MB
Any idea if this will work, also I have 2 mem files,
epsxe000.mcr and epsxe001.mcr should i rename them to mcd001.mcr and mcd002.mcr and stick them in the __SCE__ps1p folder along with scph1001.bin and the image?
Thanks in advance and great job on the emulation.

I used PocketISO to make my FF7 IMG into a Z, but when I try to start the game, it gets to Loading Game.... Then that goes away and it is just a blank screen. Eventually, it just crashes. Anyone know what I may have screwed up?

dude... read back posts. I have said a few times that .IMG files work fine in this emulator aslong as you still have the .cue file . Its a damn shame this thread has gone into a pile of wank with tons of irrelevant posts that could have been salvaged if people would take 2 minutes to read instead of jumping the gun with irrelevant pre-explained bullshit questions.

Well yes, I read that, but I don't think you read the whole thing. I said that I turned it into a Z file (so I could compress it) but it isn't working.

To tell you all the truth, it seems to me that this emulator (at this point, mind you) is no better than PSX-P. This may be because I don't play FF, but Spyro and Crash (my two Sony buddies) are still just as slow. The only advantage I see is that Spyro actually runs in this one.

Hi all, I have placed all files alonge with the ff7 image in the correct place and when i press "o" to run the game all i get is a loading game screen and a crash, am i doing something wrong?
1) Do you have the bios?
2) Is it named correctly? (scph1001.bin)
3) Are you sure everything is in the correct place? Everything must be in the __SCE__ps1p directiry. No sub folders.
4) Is your image ripped without errors?
If all of these are true, it should work.

For FF7 make a back up of it using cloneCD
you'll get it as an .img file (about 712 MB)
If you have 1GB just copy it with the rest of file that have been generated with cloneCD to the emu folder
(If you want rename img---->bin just in case)
I tried to compress it with pocketISO to Z but it didnt work

Ok, the save file for RE2 will take a while...F'in zombies keep killing me (i wish i had a ps to usb controller, or a mod to make one)
The folder layout would be like this
_SEC_Ps1p (or whatever it is)
- Eboot
- BIO
- 2 Memory Card Files (try to save, it will crash and these will be made)
- Game ISO, BIN/CUE, etc
%_SEC_Ps1p
- Eboot

Well firstly, thanks a bunch to A.C, might not have greatest compatibility, but he's plugging away trying to get this emulator working, and he deserves respect for that. (Probably only released alpha so early cause everyone was impatient :P LOL)
Secondly, seen a lot of "My image wont got past the "loading game screen"", etc, way I solved that here was to use IsoBuster, rip as RAW (bin/iso), and voila, a Bin file that seems to work perfectly.
PS. FF7 runs maybe 75% speed in game, 25-50% in battles here...predominantly 25%....but it's a start! :D
PPS. If you gonna whine or say bad crap about AC or PS1P, go elsewhere, AC is doing a great job and doesnt need the negative crap, keep the posts helpful.
(My two cents :P)

This emu is prety much on par with the other psx emu plays nothing at a playable speed needs ALOT of work to get it to a acceptable level.MAN AFTER ALL THE HYPE WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT.

November 27th, 2006, 11:24
with a little patiants this runs at a playable speed =P
I admit its slow but it runs faster then the others. For example resident evil and crash bandicoot took forever to load but now they load (by load i mean get to a playable part) within minutes.
but anyway its a wonderful start to a psx emulator =P
Ideas for next release:
- New Folder Layout (your layout is owful...=P)
- Display FPS in the lop left corner or somethin
- Support for Zip/Rar's (comeon save me some space, i only got so much)
- Note Button takes ScreenShots, bc that would be sweet...
- Check out Dgen, that menu is one of the best. Try and copy that. You can configure controls, save and load state, use gameshark, and stuff like that. It would really give your emulator an edge (even at this playable state) bc its more user friendly.
But of course get it running before you add most of that =P

I agree with ya, its a bit of an anit-climax really.
Don’t get me wrong though, I am very grateful for AC’s efforts and I can really see the potential of this emu even though its only on the first Alpha ($ony have got to be bricking it lol), it just that it really doesn’t live up to all pre-teasing and hype.
This whole Playstation emulator should have been handled in the same as gpSP! We knew nothing about that emulator at all before its release, and then ‘boom’ a fantastic (near perfect) emulator right from day one with absolutely no prolonged hype at all! :)
I look forward to the next release by AC, I just wont bother getting too excited about anything ‘coming soon’ ! lol :D

November 27th, 2006, 11:58
it lived up to the hype, you just expected more out of it =P
Its like someone saying I got you a sweet present, its what you always wanted. So you spend a day thinking of everything you ever wanted, and when you get the precent you dont want it bc you thought it was something bigger...
If you did a side by side test between PS1P and PSXP (or whatever there called now adays) you could probley tell the difference. For example RE2 runs 1-5 fps on PSXP but on PS1P it runs 15-20.

For people who are stuck at now loading, make sure you name the BIOS SCPH1001.BIN. Some people had a SCPH-1001.BIN which was not recognized.
sorry but I don“t know where to put the scph1001.bin file!

I noticed that noone seems to read this one file called Readme.txt
Now guys a readme file is like the directions or a game manual. Most of the stuff you guys are asking about is in this file. Imagine how big this thread wouldhave been if there werent 100's of posts asking where the BIOS goes...
Anyway one more time here is the folder layout:
Ms0 (this is your memory stick)
-PSP
--Game
---_SCE_Ps1p
----Eboot
----BIO
----Game (ISO, Bin/Cue)
---%_SCE_Ps1p
Hopefully this helps (I know the layout isnt good and i think he will fix that)
