The problem is that sprites underneath the layer in mode 4 are being obscured (the layer is being rendered as "base" instead of "transparent"). The mode 3-5 support has always been pretty lacking but at least that's fixed now. If I ever release again it'll be fixed..
I've always liked the music in this game *_*
Well, I'll wait for the next release then.
Thanks a lot for your answer..
Keep up!

Well,... is there a way to set a default clock speed? Most games play perfectly on 266 MHz. Everytime I set it to that value, and restart gpSP, it gets reverted to 333 MHz.
I'd appreciate any hint.

The value is saved per-game. Be sure to exit gpSP through the menu. If you have been then it's just a matter of setting it once for every game you play.

I use to have this problem where if I made any changes to the settings, screen size, keys and so on that they wouldn't change. I managed to sort it by deleting the whole folder and downloading again. I think that this error bug is caused when an update is released and you just copy over files instead of doing a clean install. Hope this makes sense?

Can someone help me?
I do not know how install gpSP09, that isn't for Firmware 1.50.
I tried making an gpSP folder, and putting it into the PSP/Game section, But it wouldn't work.
Help please. :'0

Exophase & SmashiGit,
I usually quit via the Home button. I'll try the menu bit and report back.
Thanks.

November 19th, 2007, 15:53
Well, here I am again.
It won't work. I've tried a lot -- with different variations. I set a clock speed for a game, and then quit. Set a clock speed, returned to game, and then quit. Set a clock speed, load a new game, set a different clock speed, and then quit. Nothing works. It always gets back to 333 MHz. Of course all the quitting this time is via the menu (Exit button).
So, Exophase, please confirm the version attached in the first post of this thread is the latest one because I got the one I use from another source. I'll copy this over the one I have, and remove all CFG files.
Is this a good idea?
Any other files to remove?
Thanks for your continuous follow-up with me.

Hey exophase. Thanks so much for this awesome emulator ! you rock :)
Quick question, is there anyway to make gpsp save the last used rom directory? I have then in gpsp/roms but i have to go to the roms directory every time upon startup.
Thanks for all your hard work

AFAIK, this is not possible. I coped with this by putting the roms in the parent directory itself.
Must say that the gpSP interface is somewhat dull in presentation and functionality with respect to other emulators for the PSP around. However, the emulation is almost perfect, no doubt about it.

Well its not impossible, it just isn't implemented yet then I guess. (90% of other emulators have that feature)
Oh well, maybe in v1.0 :D

Dude, get over it. Look at picodrive, no one is complaining over the menu structure of that. Maybe you should be happy that Exophase is even stopping by the PSP forums because he actually likes the gp2x scene better due to PSP owners harrassing him and whining over very little things. If anything, I would like to see the progress so far of gPSP since his blog hasn't been update since the month of May I believe (and because I know he has been adding stuff to the gp2x version of gPSP)...
Thanks Exophase for stopping by these forums (and this thread of yours), I thought you forgot about us over here! OH, I do have a request though. Can we have a Christmas present from you or something to ring in the New Year maybe *hint, hint* ;)!

Dude, that would be a great Idea! I would donate money to him, $60 from me for sure! If people don't want to buy him a slim (I don't know why not), Maybe the few of us who would be willing to donate a little bit could pay for half of the amount needed for Exophase's new slim PSP?

I agree Exophase, who the **** cares about a "Prettier" interface. Don't bother trying to or listening to the whiners who want one. Look at Picodrive, it's even simpler than yours and runs games fantastically because the dev decided to think simple. I can vouch for many that we would rather have a new gPSP with updated compatibility and fixes rather than a small update with a stupid new interface to appease the few people crying over it. Do what you want to do with your project, listen to the suggestion that you think are best.
I would also like to ask one thing, could you make a donate button on your blog? I and many other will be happy to donate money to you to get a PSP slim or other resources that would allow you to get us all an update! Maybe with us giving you a Christmas present maybe you could give us one in return if you know what I mean ;)!

Well, I didn't mean by "better interface" a colorful rainbow. I just meant a more intuitive one. For instance; an option for setting a default directory for the roms. But at least, I'd like to see an option for changing the background color. The blue one is pretty boring when displayed all the time. But then again, this is not my highest priority.
The things I really hope to see in the next version is;
1. Full compatibility for Dotstream.
2. A really working save-setttings-for-each game feature.
You've told me, Exophase, that sorting out the Dotstream issue is pretty easy, so what about releasing a version like 0.91 that supports it?
It seems that that is the only game that won't fully work in the current version.
Thanks..

Wel you both above this post need to make sure you do these three things first:
1) Go into the Recovery menu (fully turn off the PSP by holding the on switch up for 5-10 sec. Hold the R button and while doing that, turn on the PSP). Once in recovery menu, make sure you have your kernal settings to 1.5.
2) Also, when in recovery, make sure you have the sony's iso loader (9660) used so you don't need a umd.
3) Have all plugins off, some plugins actually interfere with the loading of the games, especially vsh plugins.
4) Have GAME and GAME 150 folder in PSP folder for things to run more smoothly?
5) Leave a UMD in the PSP?
6) Install the 1.5 kernal add-on if you have 3.71 M33 firmware. Then do option 1 in my steps.
There you guys go, hope that helps. PM me if you get into any problems.
Anyway, back on topic. I hope Exophase gets a slim soon (I sent him a donation via paypal), I want an X-mas present (some kind of update) from one of the best devs around please :D!

Thanks to da1writer for the donation. If I get halfway ($100) I suppose I'll make up the rest myself towards getting a Slim. Money's a little tight for me right now, but I'd prefer if donations like this don't go to waste.
If I do get a Slim then an initial update would probably be relatively minor, followed by more serious development later. I have to figure out exactly what should be done.

OK, been playing around even more, and tried a different download of the program.
It has to be in the right folder, as I'm now copying it into all the game folders (GAME, GAME150 & GAME 371) yet not one of the programs work. Ive tried changing the kernel from 1.50 to 3.71, but still no luck.
I've also discovered a new error code "8002014C"
I assume that's just from having the game in the wrong folder though...

Bittersweet news. =D I'm really happy there will actually be a new version or even more updates in the future.
Have you opened a thread already?
For me it would be important that gpSP gets fully PSP Slim compatible. IMHO you might even drop support for 1.5 kernel completely and compile it for 3.7x kernel.
TV-Out support from the official side would be nice too. I'd consider buying a TV-cable then. :D

From Exphase :
Games like Super Mario Advance 3, Riviera and Sword of Mana actually DO work in gpSP, believe it or not. If they don't work for you then you're using the faulty BIOS. Don't argue with me, it's true; the sooner you accept this the sooner you can move on.
I agree with this, once you have the right bios, game like sword of mana just work so fine (i have personnaly played swod of mana for 7h30 now without any problem)
to be honest I use an alternative version now but:
Exophase you're the one that can really upgrade your work now so just go on and bring us the best !!

Hello,
Thank you for this emulator. It is really great, and it is running GBA titles perfectly.
But I didn't manage to execute the original Gameboy titles (the ones from 1989),as well as Gameboy Color titles. ROM files have different extensions offcourse (i.e. *.gb). But as far as as I know and tried, GBA console supports previous 'boys', and also many conventional PC emulators made for GBA also support old 'boys' titles. Is there a possibility to run those old gameboy games on this gpSP 0.9 or other emulator software?
Thank you for answers. Good luck!

Hi.
gpSP cannot currently run GB/GBC ROMs. For that, you will need another emulator, for example Unofficial RIN GB/GBC 1.32 RM (Rewind and Mirror Mod) (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=69709) or Masterboy v2.02 (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=73128&highlight=masterboy) (which also runs Sega Master System and Game Gear ROMs). You won't even need a BIOS dump. Just put the ROMs in the rom directory.
Good luck!

Doesn't seem to work on this emu, or any game that is big, ie, 30mb's. I was wondering if the devs could set an extra swap file on the PSP memory stick and use that for extra memory to play the bigger games.
