Gore Verbinski's production company, Blind Wink, has penned a deal with Microsoft to develop an IP "across all Microsoft platforms" in which an XBLA Kinect game will be an "initial offering". "The deal will include, but is not limited to video games," the announcement's press release says, emphasising Blink Wink's 'transmedia' positioning, with the aim of reaching "a variety of new audiences and markets beyond the traditional media distribution methods."
What role Verbinski will take is not clear, nor the nature of the property, but his twisting of a fairground ride into a tortuously complicated series of pirate films suggests he has talent for transmedia.
