Sure, Elgato already has an app that lets you stream TV to your iPad -- but that's only if they're being broadcast online. To pull in live TV over the air you'd need a TV-tuner, something that has, until now, been unavailable for Apple's popular slate. By the end of September that lack of broadcast television will become just a distant memory with the release of EyeTV Mobile, a £100 (about $163) dongle that connects to the iPad's proprietary port. The tuner will be able to pull in MPEG 2 streams over DVB-T, but won't work with DVB-T2 broadcasts like Freeview HD. Check out the source for more details.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution has fulfilled expectations and knocked long-term champion Zumba Fitness from number one on the UK's software chart, but only as far as second.

Square-Enix's reboot for the venerable series achieved near sales parity with the second game in the series, 2003's Invisible War, in just two days - falling 26,000 copies short of that game's lifetime UK sales.

Sales were heavily skewed towards Xbox 360, which saw 57 per cent of sales. PS3 took 31 per cent and PC made up 13 per cent, according to figures from Gfk Chart-Track. Digital PC sales are not currently included in figures.

Zumba Fitness' incredible run at number one, which needed just one more week to equal FIFA: Road to the World Cup's record holding eleven, may have been ended by Deus Ex, but the title still holds on to second place, just above new entry Rugby World Cup 2011, also from 505 Games.

No other new entries made the top 40 this week, whilst last week's surprise hit Xenoblade Chronicles sank rapidly to 27th following stock shortages. The 3DS' port of Ocarina of Time also saw a significant drop following a spike after the 3DS price drop, slipping out of the top ten to eleventh from fourth.

Mojang's Markus Persson has revealed that Minecraft isn't sold through Valve's Steam service because of its restrictive terms of service.
In a post on his personal blog, Persson praised Steam as, "the best digital distribution platform I've ever seen." However, it doesn't offer the sort of freedom a game like Minecraft demands.
"Being on Steam limits a lot of what we're allowed to do with the game, and how we're allowed to talk to our users," he wrote.
"We (probably?) wouldn't be able to, say, sell capes or have a map market place on minecraft.net that works with steam customers in a way that keeps Valve happy."
"It would effectively split the Minecraft community into two parts, where only some of the players can access all of the weird content we want to add to the game."
Persson revealed that Mojang is talking to Valve to resolve the situation, and claimed that he understood the need to control the platform.
"There's a certain inherent incompatibility between what we want to do and what they want to do," he added.
Persson's explanation offers a new perspective on EA's decision to remove its games from Steam, including Crysis 2, Dragon Age II, and the forthcoming Battlefield 3.
"We take direct responsibility for providing patches, updates, additional content and other services to our players," wrote EA's senior vice president of global online David Demartini in a blog post in July.
"Unfortunately, if we're not allowed to manage this experience directly and establish a relationship with you, it disrupts our ability to provide the support you expect and deserve."
"At present, there is only one download service that will not allow this relationship. This is not our choice, and unfortunately it is their customer base that is most impacted by this decision."

Gamers are still happy with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and EA would like to see the current generation of consoles last "a little longer".
That's according to EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau, who in an interview with CVG questioned what Sony and Microsoft could be able to do with 'next-gen' hardware over current consoles.

Pointing to the publisher's stunning FPS contender Battlefield 3, the exec argued there's still horsepower left to squeeze out of PS3 and Xbox 360.

"It's hard for me to conceive what you would do on a PlayStation 4," Gibeau said. "The displays are already 1080p, you're already connected to the internet... You could make it faster, you could have more polys and you could up the graphics a little bit... but at what cost?

"It'll be interesting to see how [Sony and Microsoft] think about it in terms of the next generation but it seems to me that customers are happy, and we're happy to build games on [360 and PS3] right now."

He added: "The way the business used to run where you had these big console transitions just isn't happening anymore. They're much longer, the online capabilities are making the way customers interact within the audience very different from when we went from PSOne to PS2.

"I think that [the age of] big, abrupt change in consoles where we all pile in on top of each other and everything changes overnight is just gone."

The exec, who showcased an impressive line-up including Mass Effect 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Battlefield 3 at Gamescom this month, claimed EA's happy with the "consistent" technology of current consoles.

"One of the things that we like is that the technology is consistent, and we believe that there are still things that you can do on these systems... we haven't quite squeezed the last once of hardware horsepower out of these things, as you can see with Battlefield 3.

"Frostbite 2 technology coming in can do some really interesting things that nobody is able to do, and you see some great stuff coming from our competitors too."

He added: "I'd like to see the cycle last a little longer. I don't see consumers right now banging on the walls for a new platform. They seem to be very happy with their PS3s and 360s. They love the online connectivity, they have great communities and great libraries.

"I like the fact that Nintendo's coming in with new hardware. That'll help really rev up their business for the HD side, which is where we're in a really good position."

In the same interview, the EA Labels president told CVG the publisher is looking to re-imagine and bring back "a couple" of classic franchises.

Sony is holding steadfast to the game-centric "philosophy" it attached to PSP when it comes to selling new hardware PS Vita.

The platform holder dedicated a significant chunk of its GamesCom showcase in Germany this month to showing Vita's social networking functions and general connectivity - hinting at a change in strategy compared to its handheld predecessor.

However, speaking in the latest issue of Edge, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Jim Ryan said that video games software was the priority for Vita - just as it had been with PSP.

"To the extent that PSP targeted the core gamer who was after a good gaming experience, the philosophy is basically the same," he said. "But I think the nature of [Vita] allows us to provide a differentiated gaming experience in a manner that the design of PSP simply did not allow."

He added: "The core principle is to provide the best portable gaming experience possible. It's as simple as that."

Ryan commented that PS Vita was seen at Sony as a "true digital device" - unlike PSP or PS2. "Where it ends up is going to be hard to tell at this stage," he admitted, "but it's of considerable interest to us."

PS Vita will be launched in Japan before the end of 2011, but won't hit the US or UK until early next year.

Nintendo has confirmed the full list of 10 free NES games that early 3DS adopters will be getting on September 1.
The newly confirmed games are: Metroid, Open Tournament Golf, Wrecking Crew, Yoshi and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. They join the previously confirmed titles: Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda.

    Awesome.

Those games will be available to download free from September 1 for 3DS Ambassadors; that is everyone who bought a 3DS before the price drop and logged into the eShop before August 12 (although failing that, there are other ways to prove your eligibility).

Nintendo will later this year give eligible Ambassadors 10 free Game Boy Advance games, seven which have been confirmed as: Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kirby & the Amazing Mirror.

The 10 free NES games will go on sale to the general public later this year, but Nintendo says it has 'no plan' to ever sell the 10 GBA games. That makes them hot exclusives, innit.
