    New for pocket pc

    Hello community!

I proudly announce my brand new programm: G-Alarm.
G-Alarm is a alarm clock with special mechanism to wake you up. I'm a person who needs some activity in the morning, so I decided to make a alarm which asks me to guide a ball through a labyrinth before I can stop or snooze the alarm.
    Changelog
    0.2.1 (2008/09/04)
    - [FIXED] Fade-In Bug (hopefully fixed now)
    - [FIXED] When setting "Force volume" is checked, the actual volume mode (vibration, muted) is restored after alarm
    - [FIXED] Playlist repeats now
    - [FIXED] Device goes to normal power mode when snooze mode is activated (device is able to sleep during snooze time)
    - [FIXED] Some minor bugs
    - [ADDED] Option: "Show alarm over all windows" (works with S2U2, not yet with ThrottleLock (?))

I'm pleased to announce that a new open source sample application—called Photostream—has been added to the apps-for-android project. Photostream is a simple photos browser and viewer for Flickr. All you need to use it is a Flickr screen name or user name (the application offers a default user name if you just want to try it.)

Jeff Mitchell (name rings a bell) had an interview with Techradar about the GP2X Wiz:

Some might suggest that the GP2X:Wiz will once again be a console very popular with those who use emulators or pirate games, and won't actually be interested in a dedicated software base. How would you respond to such a statement?

The Wiz will be enormously popular for emulation and homebrew fans, and I expect people will buy a title or two of commercialware if it is priced well, and is priced to the quality. Prices have been climbing in gaming arenas, but as we can see with Apple's iTunes app store, keeping prices modest can really boost the numbers. Now, remember there are multiple sides to economics - on the one, you want to make people smile, and enjoy your title, and keeping prices low does that, and gets the title out to more hands for more smiles. But accountants will be quick to point out that if you half the price and sell 2.5 the quantity, you're still ahead - so karma, and profits. The trick is finding the balance.

So I do believe there is a market, but I don't expect it's a huge one.

I've never seen statistics for sales for the previous GPH machines, but from the forums we do see people buying the games; and if no-one bought any, Play Asia and so on wouldn't have kept stocking them, right?

Do you think the work you and other developers are doing on the games front will help to give the new GP2X any kind of foothold in the modern handheld market, next to the success of the DS and the PSP?

No; just like SanDisk selling mp3 players doesn't dent the iPod market - but it keeps SanDisk going. It helps legitimize the device to those who think emulation is bad and that its 'just for emulation', or 'just another Chinese mp4 device.' And it helps pay a few bills here or there for a few people, hopefully. But mostly it's a lot of fun.

This is how Quake mod teams suddenly end up being game developers themselves; ten years of bottom feeding and finally getting their break.

GPH was a nobody with the GP32, and they're getting more known with their increased Linux support on the GP2X series; they're still a nobody, but they're less a nobody. Slashdot posts about them now, but that's a long way from pretending Sony will take notice. Though, I don't know how big a name they are in Korea. Perhaps I am woefully unaware!

Number one sign that WiiWare is starting to take off: games seem to appear out of nowhere!

That's just what happened in Japan today as Cable Entertainment shared details on a launch event for an upcoming WiiWare game that we'd previously never heard of.

The title in question is Play With Kappa: Kappa and Forest Friends, a digital picture book featuring a young boy named Kappa who longs to be human. The title includes narration by talent Ryoko Tsunoda and simple quizzes to test if the kids have been listening.

While we're just now hearing about it, Kappa will hit the Japanese WiiWare service on the 9th at a somewhat odd price point of 600 WiiPoints. If we feel like playing with Kappa and his forest friends on that day, we'll let you know what we think. If not, enjoy these screenshots!

Videogame publisher XS Games announced today a new arcade style air combat videogame, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk, for the Nintendo Wii. Developed by Kando Games, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk is set in a futuristic universe. The player assumes the role of a brave and grizzled pilot, leader of the elite resistance military unit "Ghost Squadron". At the player's command is a group of brave but inexperienced fighter pilots that only the player can lead into battle. The objective: to save mankind from corruption and turmoil at the hands of the Union of World Nations. At stake, is the fate of the world -- victory is the only option.

A single player game that uses both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to control a player's aircraft, Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk features ground shaking weapons, non-stop combat and thrilling special effects. The game's 34 unique missions can be navigated with 23 different fighter planes, allowing the player to fly at amazing speeds and create spectacular explosions. By commanding the Ghost Squadron, completing missions and defending the front line, the player earns points for a chance to fly top-secret planes with devastating weapons. Players have to demonstrate they have what it takes to become a true Rebel Raider.

Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk has an ESRB rating of E10+ and will have a suggested retail price of $29.99. The game will be available at retail outlets nationwide on September 16th. ...

I knew the iPhone was powerful, but I had know idea it contained the sort of mystical energies needed to call for one of the Great Old ones. Mobile content developer Digital Jokers have just creating content for the Apple device, and their first effort shall be summoning the living embodiment of terror and madness in the form of Call of Cthulu: Darkness Within. It's exactly the sort of point and click adventure that the iPhone needs to help important, on-the-go people look like they're still on-the-go when they're actually just goofing off with the elder gods.

The company will be demoing the game later this month. In the meantime, here are the first, oddly non-threatening screens.

Logically speaking, it shouldn't be a huge surprise. But a friend in the industry told us that they've seen H.264 1080P video playing on the iPhone, quite a few times, with no problems at all. Of course, the resolution is absurd overkill for the system's screen, but what's this mean in light of the purported iTunes 8 HD? Potentially a lot.

Welcome to this week's Games Update, our weekly summary featuring all new product arrivals from the last seven days.

Interesting games that came out this week include the US versions of hot games such as Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice and Tales of Vesperia. So to those who owned NTSC U/C encoded systems or those who don't speak Japanese, here is your portal to these hit Japanese RPGs.

Aside from localized RPGs, some very popular Xbox360™ games came out. Fight dirty in Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, unlike the above mentioned Japanese RPGs, you are not located in a fantasy world where there is a path to justice, you are not fighting to become a hero, you are trying to benefit from chaos.

The other Xbox360™ game differs greatly from the above mentioned fiery actioner. Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise is about creating an utopic world for pinata animals. Since rent has become expensive and very few people have the luxury of owning a garden the size of a forest, make use of your Xbox360™ portal to another world.

No matter how forgiving a person is, there must have been one or two people whom they love to hate. Face Breaker allows you to relieve this grudge and lower your stress levels. Disfigure your opponent's face through your powerful punches, but be careful not to mix up the virtual world with reality.

Your home consoles can make a lot of your wishes come true, not only can you own a paradise-like garden, now you can even own multiple Ferraris through your PlayStation3™. Ferrari Challenge allows you to join professional and amateur racers on the most famous race tracks around the world.

Get off your Ferraris and enter the Abyss to deplete the demon population as the queen's champion in Abyss Gate. Travel into the depths of the shadows to protect your country. Although menacing, shadows are not neccessarily a source of evil, in Blue Dragon Plus, a sequel to its highly popular Xbox360™ predecessor, you cast your shadow over your enemies as weapons.

Aside from games, a couple of interesting soundtracks also came out. The challenge bemani games pose have amused and frustrated many people and the key to the games' success is in the music. Synthesized, by Fujimori Sota and Pop'n Music 16 Party is going to revitalize a lot of people via its energetic tunes.
