Now that PSP owners in the US can finally access the Playstation store without a PS3, it looks like Sony's getting ready to take the next logical step and cut the computer out of the equation as well. Speaking to MTV's Multiplayer blog, Playstation Network operations chief Eric Lempel said PSP downloads were "Something we're thinking about. With the capability of the PSP it's something that should be possible...it's just a matter of priorities and some technology that we need to make it all work right and make sure the content is delivered securely, just to protect some of our [intellectual properties]." Lempel went on to say that Sony is also working on and iTunes-like syncing functionality for the PSP, and that Mac support will be forthcoming. All in all, it seems like interesting times are ahead for Sony's newly-revived little gamer.

IT'S the age-old debate - who is the cleverest, blondes or brunettes?

Well, here at The Sun there's only one way to get an answer to that question, by putting 10 lovely Page 3 girls to the test.

After all, they always get top marks from our readers judging their figures.

We challenged them to complete a series of word and number puzzles using computer game More Brain Training on the Nintendo DS handheld.

See how they got on by watching the video below and checking out the slideshow.

The competition was fierce from the first press of the stylus pen on the Nintendo's touchscreen as the girls battled it out against the clock.

We pitted gorgeous blondes Amy-Lu, Amii, Sam, Becky and Danni against stunning brunettes Ruth, Mel, Nikkala, Vikki and Peta and both sides were chest desperate to come out on top.

Sam proved it's not just her 30Fs that has her out in front and was crowned the overall winner.

But despite her sharp number-crunching skills, it was the dark-haired beauties who took the team prize. Peta added: "Even before the brain training, I knew the brunettes would win. It doesn't take a genius to work that out."

Brain Training was inspired by Japanese guru Dr Kawashima, a neuroscientist who worked out that by spending just a few minutes each day doing the exercises, you can keep your mind active and lower your ‘brain age’.

That’s the score the game gives you based on how fast and how correctly you complete the challenges and the lower it is – and the closest to your own age - the better.

The first Brain Training title sold more than one million copies across Britain and is even being used in retirement homes to keep OAPs grey matter in good shape. The latest instalment adds a whole host of new puzzles including Sudoku.

    Puzzles ... More Brain Training

Celebrities are also getting in on the craze and Nintendo has a host of stars featuring in its Christmas advertising blitz on TV.

Star Trek’s Patrick Stewart (Brain Age 33), actress Julie Walters (Brain Age 59), This Morning’s Phillip Schofield (Brain Age 45) and Fern Britton (Brain Age 43) all appear as do Zoe Ball (Brain Age 42) and her TV favourite dad Johnny Ball (Brain Age 45).

Patrick, who played Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Next Generation version of the sci-fi series, said: "Getting my Brain Age down to 33 has become a fascinating and stimulating way to relax between performances, I’m really enjoying the range and depth of the challenges."

Fern added: "I'm not a very techno person, but I have grown to love my DS. It's really very simple to use, but fiendish when you get going."

As for our Page 3 stunners, they've proved that while blondes may have more fun, they're not so hot when it comes to having a head for figures other than their own.

A market trader who made a living selling illegally copied games worth thousands of pounds at a Wolverhampton market has been jailed for eight months.

Christopher Charles Jones, 40, of Century Court, Edlington, Doncaster was sentenced on Friday 30th November at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court to eight months imprisonment for having sold illegally copied games – most notably single discs containing 400 games for Sony’s PlayStation®Portable (PSP®) console, among others. The combined value of each individual PSP game on the disc has been estimated to be “in the thousands”, but Jones was selling each one for just £5.

Mr Jones was initially arrested following a raid executed by West Midlands Police and Wolverhapton City Council Trading Standards on 11th April 2006. He had been under surveillance for some time by ELSPA (the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association) investigators, who had been secretly filming his criminal activity and making test purchases.

During his first court appearance on Tuesday 27th November, Jones admitted 21 charges relating to copyright breaches after the raid at the North Computer market at Wolverhampton’s Dunstall Racecourse, before being charged and jailed for eight months on 30th November before a bench of three magistrates.

Peter Calvert, Wolverhampton City Council Trading Standards Manager, said: “This prosecution underlines the City Council’s commitment to fighting the scourge of counterfeiting. Selling fake items is designed to dupe innocent consumers, harm the livelihoods of honest businesses and line the pockets of the greedy. The City Council will continue to deal robustly with those involved in this trade in Wolverhampton.”

Michael Rawlinson, managing director of ELSPA commented: “It’s clear from the recent successes in bringing to justice those who think they can get away with illegally copying games and profiting from their sale that piracy and counterfeiting doesn’t pay. This case only goes to prove that through patience and diligence Trading Standards, local police and the anti-piracy investigators are making it harder than ever for criminals to operate.”

Tommy & Mats released their new application MMS today.

    Here are the release notes:

Tada! We are ready to release our native MMS application for the iPhone! Note, this is a v0.1 release that is not feature complete! Specifically, it is NOT possible to receive MMSs yet.

Before you can send any MMSs you must configure your mmsc server and maybe a proxy server in the MMS's Settings panel. The settings are available from your operator. For example, my configuration settings are:
    mmsc: mmsc.tele2.se
    proxy: 130.244.202.30:8080
but you must use your operator's settings.

Note, to send MMSs you must be communicating over EDGE/GPRS. In other words, if you are using WiFi you must disable that service.

As stated before, this first release is pretty rough and can only send MMSs. But we will develop it further, making the GUI a bit more polished and add the capability to receive MMSs. You can support our development efforts by making a small donation.

We will make this release available via Installer but you can download the files now from here. Unzip, copy files to /Applications/MMS.app/ and chmod +x mms.

    Have fun!

    News/release from DJ Willis:

To coincide with the open testing requests for DreamMaster’s new Lure of the Temptress engine and the recent testing requests for additional games using the AGOS engine I have done a quick SVN build of ScummVM for the GP2X.

This should also serve as the first testing pre-release of the upcoming version of ScummVM (due early next year).

Bug reports welcome on any supported engine or aspect of the port. Please put them in the tracker (or at least on the GP2X ScummVM forum) or they really stand very little chance of being fixed .

Both the F100 and F200 (touch screen) are fully supported but as usual this build is, as yet, untested due to the fact I lack a GP2X.

No other new features are in this release, just the extended game support.

Update: Due to a slight mess up with my local code yesterdays build did not work (a curse of not being able to test). Today's build should be working well, or so I am told .

As usual please do not mirror the download but rather link back to http://scummvm.distant-earth.com/ as these test builds tend to be frequently updated.

Comments are welcome via this forum thread.

    Regards,

    John Willis

    News/release from Abcd1234:

Welcome to the home page for my port of NetHack to the Nintendo DS. The goal of this project is to create a port of NetHack for the DS utilizing the unique features of the DS to create an easy-to-use NetHacking experience. I think I've succeeded in that goal. I'm probably wrong.

    Features
An unscaled, scrolling map view on the lower screen, which can be interacted with using the touchscreen.
Minimap, message, and status information rendered to the top screen.
Support for 16- and 256-color BMP tilesets, including non-rectangular tiles (tiles must have dimensions which are a multiple of 8, e.g. 8x8, 8x16, etc).
Support for text mode, with optional full color and IBM graphics.
Popup command window for easy access to the full command set.
On-screen keyboard for text input and extended commands.
    Keys are almost completely configurable.
Support for both left- and right-handed modes.
    Save and restore.
    Sleep mode.
    News
Yup, version 1.7 is out. Don't ask me if I can keep up this pace… but, hey, enjoy it while it lasts. This version includes some bug fixes, as well as some small feature additions:

Fixes engraving and similar options to allow one to use their finger, as well as an inventory item.
Fixes the text cursor so it's properly animated for things like dagger throws and so forth.
There's now a graphical cursor, similar to the one present in the X11 port.
Corpses are now coloured correctly in text mode.

It would be no understatement to say that Star Wars is one of the most loved franchises on the planet. Everyone working on the N-Gage project is a huge fan of the Star Wars universe, so we were absolutely thrilled when we heard that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed™ was coming to the N-Gage platform.

In the game, you'll play as Darth Vader's apprentice during the Clone Wars, a period of Star Wars history that takes place between Episodes III and IV.

To learn more, particularly about the N-Gage version, we spoke with Haden Blackman, Project Lead, LucasArts, and Henri Roth, Creative Director of Universomo, the development studio tasked with creating the mobile version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

    FORCE UNLEASHED QUESTIONS

N-Gage.com: In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the player takes on the role of an apprentice to Darth Vader. Why is he called just 'the secret apprentice'? Is his actual name revealed during the game?
Blackman: He’s a “secret apprentice” because Darth Vader is training him in complete isolation to one day help him overthrow the Emperor. No one can know that the Apprentice exists -- if the Emperor discovered his existence, he would kill both Vader and the Apprentice.

What is the Secret Apprentice's mission? What is he trying to do?
Blackman: Early on, the Apprentice is aiding Vader on his quest to purge the galaxy of the remaining Jedi. But, he’s really being trained to one day stand beside Vader against the Emperor. However, the story goes through several twists and turns, so the Apprentice’s goals at the end of the game are not necessarily the same as they are at the beginning.

What is Emperor Palpatine's Order 66 and how does that affect the game?
Blackman: Order 66 was the order Palpatine issued to wipe out the Jedi in Episode III. Since that time, the Jedi have been on the run or in hiding. It’s part of Darth Vader’s job to hunt down any of these survivors.
