    News/release from Pickle

    HI!

Ive put some effort into this port and I have have fixed all the problems I could find.
If you tried the last version, give this one a try before you abandon it entirely.

The major updates are fixing the surfaces to be HW instead is SW, this enabled the game to use the HW accelerated blits through SDL properly. In other words it runs much faster than the previous version.
Second ive added the diagonals directions on the gamepad. There are other smaller fixes, see the README for more details.

The game runs well at 220 Mhz, give it more if you think it needs it. As before ive provided GP2X and Windows bin's. The source code is also included.

I think ive ported this to my satisfaction, I hope some of you can enjoy as I have.
The update should be at the original entry (once the file is updated): Here ...

Nervegas has released a new version of his Nes Emulator for the iPhone:

NES.app uses the popular InfoNES emulation core to mimic the 6502 processor in a Nintendo Entertainment System, allowing you to play ROM dumps of games designed for the NES console. ROM dumps are files containing the dumped instruction code from a physical cartridge. In many cases, you are legally entitled to posess a ROM dump of any game that you presently own. ROM images for NES are widely available online, or with the appropriate hardware, you can dump them yourself directly from the cartridge.

NES.app started as a fork based on the same original code as iPhoneNES, but has been completely rewritten to run very fast, and with many additional features such as sound, game genie, saved games, and full screen support.

1.7.0 [nervegas] Code and leak cleanup
Fixed many writes to invalid memory addresses
    Corrected APU IRQs
Raised volume of white noise channel
Built for Toolchain 0.30 - much faster
Added true wait periods per frame to prevent running fast
    Rewrote auto-frameskip code, much smoother
    1.7.1 [jordan] CPU clocking tweaks
[nervegas] All games appear to work well with clock 339 now, new default
Removed palette B (vivid), all shift left

    News/release from NephilimNX:

Wow! Its been a long vacation until I've updated ThemePlus! Anyway here's the new features:

    New Features

    - Gameboot can now also be changed randomly
    - Ability to change Wallpaper, Gameboot, or both
    - Added an option to add images and gameboots under the sub-directories in the list
    - Fixed a bug when changing the directories from the configuration file. The bug occurs when the directory's length is lesser than the original
    - This has been tested on 3.52 M33-4 only and may not run yet on 3.71 due to PRX incompatibilities. I'm still using 3.52 M33-4 and may not upgrade yet until the 1.50 subset installer for 3.71 M33 is out. But this is only for personal reasons.

    Introduction
This plugin lets you change your PSP's Wallpaper and/or Gameboot randomly and timely.

You can set the option to change them:
    * Always - Changes the PSP's Wallpaper and/or Gameboot everytime the XMB loads up
    * Hourly, Daily, Monthly, and Yearly - Changes the PSP's Wallpaper and/or Gameboot on the next hour, day, month, and year the XMB loads up
    * Never - Don't change the PSP's Wallpaper and/or Gameboot at all

You can use any quantity of images and gameboots and you have the option if you want the plugin to search for images and gameboots inside the sub-directories.

Be sure to read the readme.

And for now, this only works on 3.52 M33-4. Sorry 3.71 M33 users.

    Via what japan thinks

I haven’t looked at video games for a while, so I was glad to find this survey from goo Research on video game usage by children. Video games cover handhelds, TV-connected games and even PC-based gaming.

    Demographics
Between the 25th of June and 13th of July 2007 1,165 elementary school children (or people claiming to be children) responded to a public questionnaire available on the Kids goo web site. The sample was 60.0% girls, 3.4% in first year of elementary school (ages six or seven), 5.0% in second year, 9.9% in third year, 20.3% in forth year, 26.9% in fifth year, and 34.6% in sixth year (ages eleven or twelve). Note that since this is a public internet-based survey there will definite sampling bias.

There’s so much great data in this survey! Q4SQ is perhaps my favourite; based on my casual observations, not surprisingly the DS totally dominates everything else. However, the other new portable, the PSP, is played less than the ancient Famicon and Super Famicon. I’m surprised that these two machines did so well; is this due to parents being cheap, to them having less worries about graphic violence in the older titles, not wanting to spoil the kids on photo-realism, or do kids really choose themselves to play these machines?

Note that this survey was conducted before the new PSP Slim sold quarter of a million units in one week.

Q4: What kinds of video games do you often play? (Sample size=932, multiple answer)
Portable games (PSP, Nintendo DS, etc) (to SQ) 68.8%
    PC-based single-player games 67.8%
Television-connected console games (to SQ) 47.5%
    Online games 22.5%
    Mobile phone games 16.4%
Game arcade or shop game corner 10.8%
    Other 6.7%

Q4SQ: What kinds of video games machines do you often play on? (Sample size=764, console and portable gamers, multiple answer)
    Nintendo DS 82.2%
    Nintendo Gameboy Advance 39.8%
    Sony PlayStation 1, 2 or 3 37.4%
    Nintendo Wii 35.3%
    Nintendo Gamecube 31.4%
    Nintendo Gameboy, Gameboy Micro 19.8%
    Nintendo 64 15.2%
    Nintendo Super Famicon (SNES) 15.1%
    Nintendo Famicon (NES) 11.9%
    Sony PlayStation Portable 10.5%
    Microsoft Xbox 5.8%
    Sega Saturn 5.1%
    Sega Dreamcast 4.8%

    News/release from 3r Ch4mp1

Parts of code are from Anissian's PRX tutorial samples and from DAX
HEN SDK samples and some other code that I found on pspdev.org forum.

Hope this crap can be useful to someone, I did only to learn and enjoy with C/C++

Code from Booster's DevHook SDK is used in this plugin, it is included
with the sources in the CONTRIB folder

Modified blit.c for 3.71 from CFW Extender 1.5 is in the CONTRIB folder

NIDs were extracted from the PS2DEV.ORG forum and from the stubs of
    CFW Extender 1.5

Uses Dark_Alex's 3.71 SDK, be sure to have it in order to recompile it

You are free to use and modify this source code, if you do it, give me credit
    and keep this whole notice.

    Setup
    -----
Copy the content from the binaries folder to ms0:/seplugins, if you have a
VSH.TXT copy the line of the file bundled with this pack to your file.

Open the recovery and activate the plugin.

    Changelog
    ---------

    0.22 Version
    ------------
-Ported to 3.71 Kernel, for use with previous firmwares, use 0.21 Release
-To turn off the PSP use R+SQUARE, it was changed in order to avoid conflicts
    with M33 Firmware VSHMenu

    0.21 Version
    ------------
-On Screen notiications when you activate a mode are displayed, thes ones
are a bit experimental, so their behaviour may not be the adequate under
    some situations.

-The Software Full Power Off has been modified, it now turns off completely
the system without risk of crash. If PowerLock is active, the Software Power Off
    will be locked too.

-The plugin seems to work in all the places of the XMB but is recommendable to turn
modes in the XMB root to avoid conflicts with button press combos, crashes seem to have
    been bypassed.

    0.2 Version
    -----------
-Added the Black Screen Mode, it turns off your PSP Screen, and if you press
buttons it will remain black, useful when listening songs

-Fixed the compatibility bugs which lead te system to a crash with the latest
    M33 Firmaware updates

-Some of the key combinations were changed in order to be more compatible with
the latest M33 updates, and by popular demand with Wildcard Firmwares too

    Plugin Features
    ---------------

This plugin has been designed and coded to optimize the energy consumption of
the PSP while we stay in the XMB.

This plugin has 4 main functions described here.

-Music Mode: To activate this mode you have to press L+R, this performs an
underclock to 60Mhz for the CPU and 30 Mhz for the main system bus, suitable
to listen to your Mp3 and even ATRAC music files. Pressing again L+R will set
the CPU/Bus speeds to the ones you had previously configured.

-ToggleIdle: This mode disables the autoidle feature of the console (not of the screen)
this mode can be toggled on/off by pressing R+START, useful when watching pictures of any kind
    (even porn! xD).

-PowerLock: Pressing R+NOTE you will block the console power switch in order to prevent an accidental
turn off of the system, if you toggled it on and you attempted to turn off the console it will simply
don't, but when you unlock it, the console automatically will turn off (if you did not touch the power switch
it will unlock but it won't turn off the system).

-Black Screen Mode: Pressing L+START we turn off the PSP Screen until we press L+START again, the screen
will turn on and set itself with the previous brightness level we had. Useful used toghether with Music Mode
it can save you a lot of battery!

-Software full power off: Pressing R+SQUARE, the system will turn off totally, this feature was too easy to
implement, I lef this here because you liked it, and if it is useful to someone I won't remove it.

Suggestions, bug reports and new features to implement are welcome, leave me them in this post or better
    in my devblog at http://erchampi.wordpress.com

Don't forget to leave me a greeting for my birthday in August 24 it's the only thing I demand from you!

    Credits and dedications

    - All the ones from previous releases are valuable to me, but this release is unique and entirely dedicated
to my friend Noemi, she is passing by moments that she does not deserve.

The iPhone 1.1.1 update has a hidden little surprise for y'all: Bluetooth audio streaming is now available off of your iPhone for whatever you darn please, meaning you can finally listen to music from the phone wirelessly. Oddly enough, this "function" has been unleashed by a Visual Voicemail bug that leaves Bluetooth audio on even after you've left the Voicemail interface. Of course, it's only mono audio, and the audio keeps playing out of your built-in speaker -- if you plug in headphones to cut off the speaker you'll lose Bluetooth streaming as well -- but it's nice to see Apple forking over some "should have been there in the first place" functionality accidentally to go along with all that stuff of the same ilk 1.1.1 took away from us. ...
