    Kojote posted this news:

Few guys along with me are working on a new puzzle game for the GP2x and GP32, most highly a Dreamcast and Pocket PC version will be available as well... We also try to get this game ported to the PSP and PS2 once it reaches a final stage.

The game is called "Crystal Babes" and the concept is based upon an old Amiga classic called Gem'X by Kaiko. It's basicly a "Lights Out" game with different colors. The game has an erotic-touch but should be still okay for younger people. There are already 120 fully playable levels and there will be more.

Most of the people involved in this project have worked on several different freeware games, but this time we prolly go to publish this title as low cost commercial game for around 2-5 EUR (3-7 US$). It was a hard decision, but free games don't pay our flat and don't feed our families. The price will be kept as low as possible, but we just don't give anything away for free again. The ones who can life with our decision are welcome to buy a copy, the others should wait for a while till we will release the game into the public domain pool - which will probably take around 12 months.

A "Demo" version with 20 levels will be available to the public within the next two months.

    Another PSP2 rumour? from IBTimes

Sony will revamp its marketing efforts in upcoming months, rolling out limited edition products and pushing its upcoming next-generation console, vying to garner lucrative holiday season consumer spending.

Experts believe the Japan-based electronics maker will start its push with a special edition of its most current console game system, the Playstation 2.

"Our research indicates that there is a new limited edition version of the Sony PlayStation 2," Paul-Jon McNealy, research analyst at American Technical Research said.

Rumors of the pending limited game system have been floating through online-communities in recent weeks. Reportedly, a silver-colored PS2 will launch on October 24, in quantities of 500-thousand units.

Sony is also bulking marketing efforts for its anticipated PlayStation 3 console. Campaigns designed to show the value of the new system will be launched, and 15-thousand PS3 units will reach stores for hands-on game play in North America between the end of October and Black Friday, the retail day after Thanksgiving.

"We expect online capabilities to some degree for these boxes as well, which could likely be packaged for display at retail with Sony high-definition Bravia TV sets," McNealy added. "We believe this type of vertical packaging is a win-win for both Sony and the retailers.

In addition to efforts ramping for this holiday season, the firm also plans to refresh its portable gaming system during the spring quarter of 2007.

"Sony will likely introduce a refresh of the PSP hardware line, including a hard-disk drive PSP and a second PSP with no hard drive but with a significant amount of flash memory on board.

The analysts expects these products pricing for the hard-drive based model at $199 or above, and the new flash-based one below $199. ...

    News via PSPfanboy

Sony's Gamer's Day revealed some interesting info about the exciting PSP-PS3 connectivity. But, we were left pondering whether or not we'd need a PS3 to download PSone games to our handhelds. It would be a little silly if Sony tried to force us to buy a $500+ piece of hardware simply to download games, and thankfully, Sony hasn't gone completely mad as we've feared. GameDaily interviewed everyone's pal, Peter Dille, and he confirmed that you do not need a PS3 in order to download PSone games to your PSP:

BIZ: I know you guys have previously talked about a PSP emulation service where PS1 titles would be downloaded directly to the PSP (for example, if someone didn't own a PS3). This new PS3 download service of PS1 titles, which involves transferring to the PSP, is not going to replace the previous PSP emulation plan is it?

PD: You are correct. We'll still have that. We have the PSP downloads site now, and you're right; these PS1 games will be available either from the PSP downloads site directly, so you don't need a PS3 to get them or if you do happen to be one of the lucky guys that gets a PS3, you can download the games to your PS3 hard drive and then slide it over to your PSP. Both services will be up and running.

Whew! That's good to hear. I'm going to pick up a PLAYSTATION 3 one of these days, but I'm sure many of you are very relieved to hear this confirmation. ...

Meteos was one of the first puzzle games to hit the Nintendo DS, and its unique touch screen controlled action-based tile-swapping gameplay, as well as its quirky visual style makes it one of those games held in high regard with early-adopting Nintendo DS owners. It's an excellent game, and Buena Vista knows it -- the company now has the rights to the property and is working with the game's original development team -- Q Entertainment -- to offer up a second run of the design. Buena Vista stopped by the office this week to show us a work in progress version of Meteos: Disney Magic, and if you think it's just a Mickey Mouse-skinned version of the original game, read on.

First of all, for those not familiar with Meteos, here's a breakdown of the gameplay: blocks of various colors rain down from the top of the screen, and the only way to get rid of them is to arrange three or more of the same color either vertically or horizontally using the stylus to drag them around. Unlike other puzzle games like Tetris or Puyo Pop, in Meteos these tiles don't disappear when matched. Instead, they turn into "rockets" which are used to boost the tiles on top of them off the screen. The more tiles you match while they're rocketing off the screen, the more powerful the boost...which comes in handy when the gravity in some levels get a little "heavy."

The biggest change to the design of Meteos in Meteos: Disney Magic is its new orientation: you now play the game on the system by holding the DS like a book a la Brain Age. This change gives players a lot more vertical real estate without hindering the rest of the design. Number two: in Easy and Medium difficulty, you can now swap tiles left and right, so long as there's tiles on one side of them. In the original design, you could only slide tiles in the same column, up and down. Because of this, many players utilized a "scribble" technique to randomly boost tiles away by quickly slashing at the screen. With the left/right idea, it makes scribbling less helpful -- players that plan have much better potential for winning now since they'll be pulling off combos that just couldn't be possible by scribbling up and down.

But yes, just as the name suggests, the Meteos design is now "skinned" with Disney themes. We've played levels from The Lion King, Winnie the Poo, Toy Story, and Nightmare Before Christmas, each with their own set of tiles that match the property. And like the original Meteos, each "book" has its own gravity...Nightmare Before Christmas had the heaviest we've experienced in our hands-on, while The Little Mermaid, being underwater, had the floatiest. There will be the same multiplayer focus that's in the original design, so expect single and multi-cart support in Meteos: Disney Magic. But no Wi-Fi Connection support. Bummer.

The game's still Meteos, though, even with the cute Disney franchises branding the puzzle games. The new "book" orientation and the horizontal and vertical sliding mechanics add a significant amount to the already excellent puzzle design. The game's scheduled to hit shelves in February.

    Heres an excerpt

At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, we were exposed to Buena Vista Interactive's original Nintendo DS title Spectrobes. It was here that the game made its public debut, but honestly, E3 isn't a very good venue to show off a deep concept like Spectrobes -- so it's a good thing that Buena Vista made the trek over to our offices this week so we could get a better idea of what to expect in this upcoming action RPG.

Spectrobes is in the works at Japanese development studio Jupiter -- you might recognize the name as the team that worked directly with Square Enix and Buena Vista for the Game Boy Advance "continuation" of Kingdom Hearts. That relationship has apparently strengthened with Buena Vista, as the two companies are working together to establish a brand new RPG universe for Nintendo DS gamers. Spectrobes has a lot in common with Pokemon, but there's a lot here that's unique to Jupiter's design, and it's at least a game that pushes a lot of the unique capabilities of the DS hardware.

IGN recently got to test out some of the multiplayer modes featured in Vice City Stories. They also have a few new screenshots to accommodate their article. Below are a few interesting points taken from the preview...

    • The game allows for 2-6 players in Ad-Hoc mode. Ad-Hoc means local play, no online multiplayer in this one.
    • In addition to all the multiplayer modes from Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories will feature 4 new multiplayer modes.
    • Some street races are now called ''Quadathlon'' races. Meaning, you could for instance start off in a car, hop over to a jet-ski, then a bike and finally to a helicopter.
    • In ''Might of the Hunter'', players start off on foot, each equipped with an RPG. Players need to try and get into the Hunter first. Score points by killing the other players with the hunter or ,if on foot, shoot down the hunter with the RPG.
    • In the returning mode, ''Survivor'', teammates can now enter the same vehicle and perform drive-bys.
