QazzaQY2K has reviewed the game Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan!, heres some details:

Ouendan makes you a member of a local helper squadron. Your goal is to help out people who are in a pinch, thereby bringing peace to the world. Ouendan's gameplay is based around a simple concept that combines comic-book style storytelling with rhythmic gameplay. You interact with the game by touching numbered markers, called Hit Markers, that appear on the screen and slowly begin to shrink. The timing of your touches is important, as you have to strike the Hit Markers in time with the movement of a Timer Cycle, displayed at the top on the screen. Connect successful strikes together, and you build up a combo which adds to your score. Successful play affects the outcome of the an episode that unravels on the top screen.

I got this game on my birthday and I must say it blends perfectly together with my insane addiction to music, rhythm & anime. You might not know but I’m an addict to Dance Dance Revolution, what’s that you say? You might have seen it at the arcades.

The game often has a large screen going with pumping music, lamps and most importantly, right in front of it, dance pads. You might know it as that game with the arrows going up the screen. Yeah! That’s the one. The big idea is to hit the arrows just right to the beat of the music. Same thing goes for “OTO” Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan!

But will I understand the Japanese?

    “OUEEENDDD-
    AAAANNNN!!!”
Frankly, not really, not the kanji (symbols) but the game is so straight forward and simple that you don’t need to understand it. You’ll understand the basic idea of every stage, as they come with a Manga “comic” story to every stage. IMPORTANTLY: Yes it will work with any region of Nintendo DS out there as Nintendo DS don’t have any region protections. So this is a very IMPORT friendly game.

OK! Now we got that issue sorted. So what is this? It’s a dream come true to all music fans that like new original games. But WHAT IS IT!? Calm down and I’ll explain it to you.

There you are with one big mess around you and the deadline is coming just around the corner. Everyone wants a piece of you, you can feel the walls cramping up closer and closer and there’s only one way out of this. OUEEENDDDAAAANNNN!!!
“Ouendan” Cheer-leaders of three men come to your rescue. They know you can do this, with some cheering on you, showing BELIEF in you, you feel it is possible to do anything, with their music, dance and rhythm they help you believe in yourself to do amazing things.

    Game play
As I said, it starts with you helping them. The main objective is to feel the beat to the music and hit markers on the lower screen numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… The markers looks like a round button and around it is a bigger circle getting smaller, just as it becomes the same size as the button
“Get or not to get, that is the question.”
*HIT* you press it… and with a nice beat of jpop or jrock (Japanese music) you start to do *HIT* *HIT* *HIT*…*HIT*. Wait for it, wait for it… *HIT* *HOLD* *DRAG*… Follow it… Don’t loose it… *SPIN*… With the flow of the fantastic music. You clear the first part of three in the stage, a cut scene is shown and the story unfolds depending how well you *HIT* the buttons. *HIT*: Miss, Good, Great, Perfect.

With a superb combo you make the first part. If you didn’t make it the cut scene is different as you failed BUT! If you energy bar at the top is still there… Life goes on and so does the Ouendan, as you make it through the stages and improve, you unlock even harder modes and up to fifteen people in need of some good ass kickin’ and cheering. Helping them make you feel good about yourself just as in real life.

Get or not to get, that is the question.
I’d recommend you to check out some cool game play videos, listen to the music and see how it’s played and jump up on the first plane to Japan and rent it, or mail-order via internet, which is cheaper. I believe this is the game if you want something new fresh and inspiring to your Nintendo DS collection, something no one else got for you to show off to others.

Excellent Review, do you agree or disagree then please give feedback, we would also love your reviews ...

Shazz and TRSI released a new Demo for the PSP that they released at the Breakpoint Demo Party.

The Demo is called Bloody Memories.

Shazz has one request and that is if anyone has a PSPTV device could they take a video of the Demo in action. Nothing More than a Meg or 2 should be great.

George Lucas himself may be done with Star Wars films, but LucasArts is apparently working on a title based on Darth Vader, while a new Indiana Jones game is still in progress.

According to a New York Times article about the current state of the company, Haden Blackman, project lead on a forthcoming Star Wars game, recently outlined to directors "a new storyline that delved deeper into Darth Vader's history".

The NY Times piece also mentions Indiana Jones, noting how vice president of product development Peter Hirschmann "gleefully explained how researchers had tracked down images of San Francisco buildings from 1915 for the future Indiana Jones game".

There's no discussion of when either of those games will be released, but the piece does maintain that LucasArts wants to be known as more than just "the 'Star Wars' game company", with more original titles on the way along the lines of last year's Mercenaries.

    What is best in life?

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women. Oh, and playing Funco's massively multi-player Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures on your Xbox 360 wouldn't be so bad either. Gamespot's Rumor Control column tackles the likelyhood that Robert E. Howard's brawny hero will battle-axe his way on to our favorite console:

Like most MMORPGs, Age of Conan is PC-exclusive. However, that may change, according to a GAF poster. Said poster claims to have a friend who attended a question-and-answer session held by Funcom, the Norwegian developer of Age of Conan.

According to the poster, the Funcom developers "showed a trailer with a pretty intense draw distance apparantly [sic] as well as Conan himself wielding a morning star which seemed totally realistic in how the spiked ball would behave due to its weight and momentum." Then, "a question was asked about if they were thinking about other platforms than PC...then the spokesman [Bjorn Sundquist] made a kauf [sic] gesture saying *kauf*Xbox360*kauf*." (Emphasis added.)

Since John Milius' Nietsche-tinged Conan classic (starring the Governor of California) is probably my favorite movie of all time (I've seen it a hundred times—please don't mention the disgraceful sequel), I'm tempted to pray to Crom that this works out. Fortunately for purists and people who hate Ahnuld, Age of Conan is based not on the movie, but on the gritty, politically incorrect world created in the orginal pulp novels. And it's been gathering positive barbarian buzz for some time.

Gamespot tags the story as "bogus" because, as of right now, Age of Conan is still officially a PC product. But the lack of a publisher as the May PC release date nears means that Microsoft could step in with head-chopping Hyborian ease. We need an MMORPG on the 360 that doesn't have Final Fantasy in the title. Come on Microsoft—let us push the Wheel of Pain.

    Preview from Shacknews:

Activision has held the X-Men video game license for years now, publishing some unexpected gems such as Raven's two X-Men Legends games along with some rather less memorable fare. After so many prior titles, it seems slightly odd that the latest X-Men licensing effort, a tie in with the upcoming film X-Men: The Last Stand, has been granted the singular moniker X-Men: The Official Game. Could Activision and developer Z-Axis be sending a message to gamers, suggesting that this is the definitive X-Men experience, the stick by which other X-Men games (video, board, or otherwise) will be measured? Is there perhaps some kind of seedy unauthorized X-Men game production black market, and Activision is sending a stern reminder to these renegade developers that only this is the true official game? Were the marketers just out of ideas?

    Core Features:
    1) Full graphics emulation (stretched)
    2) Full sound emulation

We've been eager to see just how Capcom's Power Stone Collection, the upcoming compilation of its two Dreamcast brawlers, would turn out on the PlayStation Portable since the game was announced earlier this year. The two games made a respectable splash back in the day thanks to their crisp visuals, fast-paced gameplay, and multiplayer modes. We finally got the chance to check out a very early work-in-progress version of the compilation, which gave us a taste of what to expect from it.

Though the final game is set to include the original Power Stone and its sequel, Power Stone 2, as well as a host of PSP-exclusive extras, our demo version was pretty limited. The demo we played let us try out only the arcade version of Power Stone 2, which expanded the simple one-on-one formula of the original game to include four-player brawls and multipart stages that scaled on the fly. We tried a few of the main stages with a sampling of characters and were pleased to see that the game handled just like the Dreamcast originals. The simple attack system let us create a modest array of chained combos, use objects in the environment as weapons, or use the environment itself to inflict some pain on our foes. The multipart levels and scaling view were also in full effect. The scaling view proved to be somewhat problematic because the farthest view that the game scales to makes it a chore to see what's going on, since the fighters are reduced to the size of ants. Thankfully, Capcom is addressing the issue with the addition of a new camera system, which will let you toggle different views while you fight. Though the game is also set to include new weapons for use during battle, we didn't see any, because we were fighting for our life against some aggressive CPU-controlled characters.

The character models look great when you have an opportunity to see them up close.
The presentation is coming together well from what we've seen. The game's sharp look is right at home on the PSP. However, at the moment, there are some texture and resolution issues that keep the game from looking like a perfect conversion. Still, minor elements aside, the game's performance is pretty smooth even now, which bodes well for the future. At the same time, the game's audio appears to be nailing the voice and sound effects from the Dreamcast version, which isn't too surprising.

Based on our brief time with the game, Power Stone Collection is looking like it will, at the very least, stay faithful to its Dreamcast predecessors. Besides the new content we already mentioned, the game is slated to include a new minigame, dubbed Bomber Battle. We're curious to see how the first game will handle, but given how Power Stone 2 is shaping up, the outlook is good. Power Stone Collection is slated to ship this fall for the PSP. Look for more on the game in the coming months. ...

    Article from Gamespot:

Capcom Puzzle World is the upcoming compilation from Capcom that was announced earlier this year. The game, as hinted at by its title, is a compilation of classic Capcom games, drawing from the many puzzlers the company has released over the years. Though the game was announced earlier this year at Capcom's Las Vegas press event, we haven't had the opportunity to see it in motion until now. We recently had the chance to try out an early work-in-progress version of the game to get a feel for what to expect from it.

A gaggle of Capcom puzzle games will invade the PSP with Capcom Puzzle World.
For the record, Capcom Puzzle World will compile installments in three of its puzzlers--Super Puzzle Fighter II, Super Buster Bros., and Block Block. Super Puzzle Fighter II will be a conversion of the Dreamcast incarnation of the fan-favorite title, which was only available in Japan via Sega's D-Direct service. For those who missed it back in the day, the game marries a Tetris style clear-the-falling-blocks imperative with one-on-one street fighting from Capcom's classic fighters, and it's all tied together with superdeformed, and thus supercute, incarnations of characters from the Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Red Earth, and Cyber-Bots games. The title features three new gameplay options (dubbed X, Y, and Z), which offer gameplay variations such as blocks that ascend upward on the playfield instead of fall downward. Super Buster Bros. is represented in the form of the Super Buster Bros. Collection, a conversion of the PlayStation compilation that collected Buster Bros., Super Buster Bros., and Buster Buddies into one game. The series put you in control of the titular siblings and charges you with popping falling balloons. Finally, Block Block is a conversion of the arcade game of the same name, which offered a Break-Out-style challenge that required players to maneuver a paddle around the bottom of the screen and use a rebounding ball to remove layers of blocks.

The early version of the game that we tried only let us mess around with Super Puzzler Fighter II and the Super Buster Bros. games. Though the game graphics and overall performance obviously need some smoothing out, both titles looked and played faithfully to their predecessors. On top of the expected faithful translation, the titles will all support PlayStation Portable optimizations and exclusive features to give the compilation some meat. The games are being optimized for the PSP's 16x9 screen, will offer ad hoc Wi-Fi play, feature a screenshot mode, and even let players import pictures on their memory stick to use as level backgrounds. Capcom Puzzle World is slated to ship later this year for the PSP. ...
