Bad news for those hoping to take a virtual trip into Japan's yakuza-filled underground one more time on the PS2. Capcom announced today that it has halted development on Shinjuku no Ookami, aka Shinjuku Wolf.

The adventure game, which has drawn some comparisons to Sega's Yakuza due to its realistic setting on the streets of Tokyo's Shinjuku district and its promise of a high degree of freedom, was originally scheduled for a Spring Japanese release. However, in a statement issued today at its website, the company admitted that the quality of the game was not to its expectations, prompting the cancellation.

A release for the game outside of Japan was never announced. ...

SEGA announced today that its SEGA Rally franchise is not only coming to next-gen platforms, but will also be making an appearance on the PSP. Unlike its big console brethren, developed by SEGA Racing Studio, SEGA Rally PSP will be developed by Bugbear Entertainment, known for the Flatout racing series.

With revolutionary dynamically deformable terrain, proprietary next-generation graphics, bone-jarringly realistic physics, and competitive bumper-to-bumper racing, SEGA Rally Revo will set a new benchmark in its genre with a high-tempo driving experience that is every racing fan's driving fantasy.

Vehicle selection affects driving strategy in SEGA Rally Revo, as race course surfaces dynamically deform upon repeated contact with vehicle tires and changing weather effects. SEGA Rally Revo features a variety of fully deformable surfaces, from gravel-littered tracks and smooth tarmac roads, to snow-covered mountain passes. This means no two laps will ever be the same, and drivers can skillfully lower their lap times as they hurtle their chosen world-renowned rally vehicles down photo-realistic courses only made possible on next-generation hardware.

Driving skills will also be tested by SEGA Rally Revo's advanced AI which allows NPC drivers to dynamically adapt their driving style to the varied racing surfaces. Players can enjoy a comprehensive single-player campaign as they travel the globe racing the best drivers in the world. SEGA Rally Revo also features online capabilities, with multiplayer splitscreen modes offering an extremely competitive rally experience against drivers around the world.

    Features :

    * Bumper to bumper Rally racing: Close competitive Rally racing with multiple cars on track racing bumper to bumper across Rally inspired environments.
    * Deformation: Fully deformable environments & surfaces that will ensure no two laps, let alone a race, will be the same.
    * Speed & adrenaline: Fun, looping tracks, with a wide variety of surface types and vehicles including 4WD, 2WD & Classic vehicles.
    * A driving fantasy: Set to offer a wonderfully vibrant graphical world, featuring 8 different environments each taking inspiration from exotic locations around the world.
    * Competition: Advanced AI, multiplayer and online capabilities will ensure a healthy level of competition for all standards of driver.

Midway Games has revealed that Myst will find its way to the Nintendo DS. The graphic adventure computer game was first developed by Cyan Inc. and was released for the Macintosh computer on September 24, 1993.

    Myst Overview:

Unlike most adventure games, Myst offers no inventory, no death, and no dialogue. Although puzzles don’t seem to have much direct connection to the game, they share a commonality. They take on many forms but follow a consistent thread. Some puzzles are very challenging, even obtuse, creating an odd paradox: many buy Myst, but few complete it. It is immensely popular, but most nonadventurers quit in frustration. Fortunately, Myst’s popularity has spawned several online sites for hints, walk-throughs, and even saved games.

The source code for the DS has been re-written distinctively for the handheld. There is an all NEW Age, the RIME AGE, to explore and the video and the audio have been re-mastered. They have also added new sounds, effects, and video clips.

Myst has been developed by Cyan Worlds and will release for the Nintendo DS in November 2007. ...

New videos from the Sega Dreamcast emulator for Windows, still in development.
Click here if you want to download and see the videos:
    Soul Calibur video
    Guilty Gear video
    Ikaruga video 1 video 2
    Gun Bird 2 video
    Zero Gunner 2 video
    Project Justice video
    Power Stone video
    Last Blade 2 video

This is what the authors said (translated):

I managed to find an app which "cooperates" with Makaron and is able to fetch a movie from the emulator. It takes some cycles of my CPU, but something has to do the coding. Normally the emulator runs faster (e.g. Ikaruga doesn't slow down even for a moment). And there's no sound in the movies, because the free version... It's a success nonetheless, because FRAPS killed Makaron all the way. Of course the palette support is hardly software emulated "around", and some things mess up... but I still think it's nice. ...

Get those ghosts! Pac-Man, the 1980s arcade game sensation, now can be played on Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 home console. Blinky, Clyde and other Pac-Man hallmarks are there, but this is an updated version - made by Pac-Man's original creator, Toru Iwatani.

Iwatani designed the revamped "Championship Edition," which was unveiled at the Pac-Man World Championship in New York on Tuesday. Iwatani, who is now a video game professor at Tokyo Polytechnic University, also crowned the winner of the Microsoft-sponsored competition, Carlos Daniel Borrego from Pachuca, Mexico.

The Pac-Man makeover includes mazes that change shape as the game is played, new soundtracks and high-definition graphics, though the game retains the kitschy, arcade-inspired look. There are six new timed game modes, including the "Manhattan" mode, inspired by New York streets.

It appears the new Pac-Man marked Iwatani's last hurrah in the video game business.

"It gives me great joy to know that my final contributions in my corporate career were to crown the Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Champion and to leave the world with an amazing new 'Pac-Man' game for generations to enjoy," the game maker said in a statement.

Nostalgia-seekers can buy and download the game from the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft points, or about $10. Enthusiasts partial to Pac-Man's red-bowed, lipsticked girlfriend will have to settle for a more traditional-looking version of the Ms. Pac-Man game, released to the Xbox Live Arcade in January. ...

The official Shadowrun forums declare that a demo will be released, er, half an hour ago on Xbox Live Marketplace. So, 2am PDT.

There's no sign of it yet according to Internet hero Kristan Reed, and apparently there's no immediate plan for a Windows Vista version ("We haven't announced [it]").

But we do know what's going in the Xbox 360 one: the first three training chapters, bot and online multiplay, the Power Station level, Elf and Human races, four types of magic, three types of tech, and six weapons including the katana.

Specific details are all on the forum.

Shadowrun - released last Friday - is an online multiplayer game derived from the pen-and-paper RPG series of the same name. One of its headline features is the facility for PC and Xbox 360 owners to play against one another on the same servers. ...

Tomb Raider Anniversary has been met with good press for it's release on PS2 and PC. However, it's non release on the Xbox 360, which saw Tomb Raider: Legend was puzzling for quite a few gamers.

With the Xbox 360 controller working on the PC enabled game, we hoped that Tomb Raider Anniversary might see the light of day on the Xbox 360 console, and late last night, a listing on the ESRB site gave us some hope.

Well, several listings we should state. If one was to type in Tomb Raider Anniversary into the search bar, you would find the regular result of Tomb Raider Anniversary rated T for Teen and available for the PC and Playstation 2 platforms.

But it also returns back 5 more results, all of which are for the Xbox 360. Tomb Raider: Anniversary Peru, Tomb Raider: Anniversary Lost City, Tomb Raider: Anniversary Greece, Tomb Raider: Anniversary Egypt and Tomb Raider: Anniversary Croft Manor.

Our theory behind the extra listings is that Tomb Raider Anniversary will see release on the Xbox 360 as a downloadable episodic title. Eidos would not respond to our questions at time of press. ...
