    Wii Sports
    Publisher: Nintendo
    Developer: Nintendo
    Genre: Sports
    Players: 1-4, depending on game
Get From: Goozex US/CAN / Goozex EU

Overview : This is what video games should be: fun for everyone. Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote controller to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. To play a Wii Sports game, all you need to do is pick up a controller and get ready for the pitch, serve or that right hook. If you've played any of these sports before, you're ready for fun!

    Features :
    • Play Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing in the comfort of one's living room. No ball boys scurrying about, no oil from the alleys to get players dirty and no rain to keep anyone from a day at the court, park or course. Use the Wii Remote controller to mimic the actions of swinging a racket, bat or club, roll a ball down an alley or bring the left jab.
    • Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.
    • People of all skill levels can pick up and play any of the games in the unprecedented Wii Sports package, making this truly a title for everyone!

Gameplay : Nintendo decided to include a game with every Nintendo Wii console purchased. This is a great way to show off the Wiis new intuitive control scheme. When every swing and motion of the Wii remote, you perform certain motions. With the ease of a swinging a bat or tennis raquet motion will perform a swing. The motion of a golf swing, throwing a bowling ball or punching will perform each respective motion.

There is pratically no learning curve to Wii Sports. You simply pick up the Wii remote and just start swinging away. A child and elderly can enjoy the game easily.

    • Tennis (1-4 players): Players grab the Wii Remote like a racket and swing – the game registers forehands, backhands, volleys, lobs, slices, spin and power depending on how fast the user swings and at what angle. Don't worry about moving around the court to get to the ball – the game automatically moves players into position.
    • Baseball (1-2 players): Players grip the Wii Remote like a bat and swat fastballs out of the park, or fire a fastball over the plate with a flick of their wrist. Timing and bat speed will make all the difference between going yard and whiffing, so keep an eye on the ball and swing for the fences. In the two-player game, one player pitches and the other bats – all fielding and running is automatic, so that players can focus on the action.
    • Golf (1-4 players): Step up to the tee, hold the Wii Remote like a golf club and swing naturally to smack the ball onto the green. The harder players swing the club, the farther the ball will fly. Be careful, though – if players swing too hard, their ball will fly out of control, so they should be sure to take some practice swings before going for the pin. After reaching the green, line up putts carefully, practice the stroke and try to hole out.
    • Bowling (1-4 players): Players raise the Wii Remote in their hand just like a bowling ball, and then swing their arms to roll the ball. The speed of the swing and the angle at which they release the ball affects the ball's spin, so it will take some practice to master control over the ball and knock down the pins.
    • Boxing (1-2 players): Using the Nunchuk™ controller as one glove and the Wii Remote as the other, players dodge, weave and punch their opponents. Players hold their hands high to guard their faces or low to block their torsos. They punch high to hit their opponents' faces or low to get under their guard for a body blow. Swing both arms left or right to sidestep oncoming blows and move into position for a devastating knockout.

There is also a Training mode as well as a Fitness mode. In Training mode you complete certain tasks and try to earn medals and move onto the next level. Fitness mode is just that. Getting in shape. Just playing regular boxing can help you get in shape but if you would like to keep track of your fitness, Fitness mode is the way to go.

Graphics : The graphics are not mind blowing as you would find on the PlayStation3 or Xbox360 but nice, unique and simple. Purpose is to show off how the Wii works. Each characted featured in Wii Sports are known as Mii. With the Nintendo Wii, you can create yourself and play as yourself or make other celebrities and play as them.

Sound : Nothing fancy. The music is just generic music being played over and over. You'll have the occassional fans in the background cheering. I must say though, the music goes great with the game and does not get annoying where you have to turn down volume.

Replay Value : Wii Sports is a great game for get-togethers and to show off the potential of the Wii. Some games have great replay value such as Tennis, Bowling, Boxing. Golf and Baseball on the other hand is ...

    WarioWare: Smooth Moves
    Publisher: Nintendo
    Developer: Nintendo
    Genre: Action
    Players: 1 (up to 12)
Get From: Goozex US/CAN / Goozex EU

Overview : The WarioWare team took an idea so wacky, it could only be made with the latest technology: the Wii Remote! Wario stumbles into an old building called the Temple of Form. Inside, he finds a mystical treasure called the Form Baton. There are many ways to hold and move the baton (called "forms"), and legend has it that if the holder follows the forms, he can overcome any challenge. With this discovery, the form craze spreads and soon everybody is doing their best to master the moves.

    Features :
    • Revolutionary Fun: With hundreds of microgames, this game is just as wild as you'd expect from the name WarioWare, but the gameplay has been revolutionized. Under Wario's tutelage and with the help of the Wii Remote, players will swing, spin and squat their way to victory.
    • Tons and Tons of Microgames: With more than 200 lightning-quick microgames and controls that range from scribbling to flailing, WarioWare: Smooth Moves takes interactive gaming to a whole new level. All players need is confidence, a Wii Remote and their best moves.
    • Off-Screen Party: With games that are as much fun to play as they are to watch people play, WarioWare: Smooth Moves brings the party to its feet. It's hilarious for players and audiences alike.

Gameplay : The concept of the WarioWare franchise is based on a bunch of speedy mini-games in a row. Players will choose from a map along with available missions. Each mission has a different mini-game to each. WarioWare Smooth Moves uses every aspect of the Wii-mote. You use 15 different positions to perform certain actions and challenges. For instance, you would try to balance the Wii-mote on your palm, or hold the controller like you're throwing a dark or just minor movements such as hula hooping or steering a car. Each mini-game takes only a few seconds and you move on to the next mini-game. You are only allowed four fails before the game is over.

Nintendo packed in over 200 mini-games. While majority of the mini-games are entertaining, some aren't as fun and are challenging. Each mini-game is unique in its own way. They can vary from just inserting grannies dentures, to balancing your character a on a ball to moving and doing a hula hoop motion. There are unlockable mini-games when you complete. In story mode, you can beat the game within three to four house and unlock everything in five to six hours.

Multiplayer is by far the most enjoyable way to play WarioWare. Depending on the mini-game, you can play up to 12 people. Unfortunately, there just enough modes for multiplayer. There are about 4 modes to choose from as opposed to 8 on the GameCube version; Mega Party.

Graphics : Graphically, there isnt anything to drool over, but its still fun to look at. If you have played previous WarioWare games, this follows the same concept and look.

Sound : As you pass/fail each mini-game, the music becomes faster and picks up the pace with each mini-game. The music fits perfectly with each mini-game.

Replay Value : To get your money worth, replay value plays a big role in games. Considering this is a party game, you would think there would be replay value but WarioWare falls short. You wont be bored after an hour or two of play but single player mode is short. As mentioned, you can unlock everything with in five to six hours.

Conclusion : Overall, WarioWare: Smooth Moves is a nice party game. The game falls a little short in replay value when it comes to single player mode but the multiplayer kind of makes up for it but still lacks in the number of modes available. But if you do have a bunch of other players, the best mini-game on Smooth Moves has got to be Hot Potato.

    Score: Very Good

    XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0
    Manufacturer: XCM
Site: Buy from Play-Asia / Buy from ConsoleSource / Buy from Amazon
    Price: $69.99

Overview : The famous Cross Battle Adapter now comes in a new version, 2.0, with new functions to swap all your controller's functions!

The Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 is an adapter to allow you to connect your Xbox 360 wired controller to your PS3 console for use with PS3 games.

The XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 is built with a new function for swapping the controller’s triggers and bumpers. You can also swap the functions of A, B, X, Y buttons (Example: Set the function of A button to the X button or set the function of B button to the Y button, etc) and swap the functions of 2 analog sticks as well! The PS3 Six Axis mode and rumble function are also supported. The best adapter in the industry just got better!

    Features:
    • Compatible with ALL PlayStation consoles and models.
    • Requires the wired Xbox 360 controller.
    • Built in Rapid Fire / Turbo for each button with independant controls.
    • Easy to Use - Just Plug and Play!

Quality/Usability : This review is an update to the XCM Cross Battle Adapter. There is also a Cross Battle Adapter PLUS that supported rumble that was released after the original CBA.

Comparing the two Cross Battle Adapter, there is a big cosmetic change. The Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 comes in a purple casing with a clear purple back. The front has a big backlit LED "XCM" logo with toggle switches. Like the original CBA, the switches are for the TURBO function. Each switch is also labeled to tell you what each buttons are. For instance, the [X] button on the PS3 is the [A] button the 360. The R1 button on the PS3 is the RB on the 360.

To connect the CBA 2.0, plug the Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 into the PS3 console and the LED "XCM" logo will start flashing blue. After plugging in the Xbox 360 wired controller (yes, you must use a wired controller) and the blue LED will stop flashing and stay lit.

Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 gives you the ability to use the tilt functionality. But its not what you think. There is no motion or tilt sensitivity. Instead, if you switch the TILT button to "L" on the CBA2.0, the function of the LEFT analog stick of the 360 will now replace the PS3 controller's tilt function instead of its own function. If you switch to "R", it will take the function of the PS3's tilt function. If you dont want the tilt function at all, leave it on "N". So if you have it set on "L" or "R", you lose the original function of the analog stick.

The CBA 2.0 allows you to swap buttons. You can swap the A, B, X, Y, RB, LB, RT, LT, RC, LC, START, BACK and Directional Pad. An example is to switch the A and B button. Press the "S" button and the LED indicator will light up, then press the B button and the indicator will stop blinking. When you press the A button, the light of the LED indicator will turn off. This means the swapping procedure is complete and the B button now has the function of the A. If you want the A button to have the function of the B, simply repeat the steps above but change buttons.

To get back the original button settings, simply press the "S" button and the LED indicator will light up. Press the A button and the indicator will start to blink. Press the A button again and the light indicator will turn off.

To swap analog sticks, press the "S" button and the indicator will light up. Press any direction of the RIGHT analog stick and the indicator will turn off. To get back the original function, just repeat the steps. The easiest way to get back all the original functions is to press and hold the "S" button for 3 seconds. The LED indicator will blink quickly and all functions will be set back to their original function.

Here is a video of the Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 working on the new PS3 Slim:

With the lit XCM logo and "S" button indicator, swapping/remapping buttons and confirmation is much easier to notice. Like the Cross Battle Adapter PLUS, rumble is also available on 2.0.

Conclusion : Overall, the XCM Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 is a big improvement over the original Cross Battle Adapter (we didnt have the chance to review CBA PLUS since the only difference was that it had rumble available). However, I dont know how much of a use the tilt feature will come in handy. I didnt use it much considering I'm use to using the analog stick. For others they may prefer it. The swapping of buttons is a great addition which gives gamers the ability to configure button layouts to their liking. Unfortunately, you still need to use a wired controller. When I mean wired, I dont mean a wireless controller with the USB cable attached to it. This the only drawback to the Cross Battle Adapter 2.0.

    PlayStation 3 Wireless QWERTY Keypad
    Manufacturer: Sony
    Site: Buy from GoldenShop
    Price: $49.00

Overview : The Wireless keypad for the PLAYSTATION®3 system provides the freedom of easy to use texting and mouse input capabilities, all while maintaining full gameplay functionality in one easy-to-hold device. This Bluetooth® device attaches to any DUALSHOCK®3 or SIXAXIS™ wireless controller and enables effortless internet browsing, e-mailing and instant messaging on the PlayStation®Network and PlayStation®Home. The unique touch pad feature allows for convenient scrolling and mouse input on the PS3™ system on-screen display. Dedicated short cut keys provide instant access to ‘Message Box’ and other online communication applications on the PlayStation®Network.

By integrating all these features in a sleek and elegant design, Sony Computer Entertainment, plans to further enhance online interactivity on the PLAYSTATION®3 system.

    Features :
    • QWERTY keypad designed for fast, thumbs-only typing.
    • Touch pad mode turns the main key area into a touch pad. When touch pad button is pressed, user can not use the keys for character input but can slide her finger on this area to select something on the screen. On the internet browser, user can see a cursor when this mode is set on.
    • Dedicated short cut keys provide instant access to text-based communication applications on the PLAYSTATION Network.
    • Automatic pairing with the PS3 system via a USB cable.
    • Charges by connecting it directly to the PS3 system using a USB cable.

    Technical Specifications
    • Bluetooth® 2.0
    • Up to 33 feet (10 meters) operating range
    • USB 2.0 full speed (for battery charging and Bluetooth® pairing only)
    • Rechargeable Lithium-ion polymer battery (Capacity – 610mAh)

Quality/Usability : With new generation consoles and online play, theres voice/text chat. But what if you dont have a headset with microphone, let alone wanting to hearing immature people/kids smack talk or their squeaky voice. How about now wanting to suffer selecting each letter with the d-pad or on-screen keyboard? Yes, you can connect a USB keyboard to the PS3 but it so big and requires you to put your controller down. Like the Xbox 360 Chatpad, Sony has released their own QWERTY keypad for the Sony PlayStation 3.

The keypad is small, lightweight and fits over the Dual Shock or SIXAXIS controller and is held in place with a spring-loaded clap. On the face of the keypad are your typical QWERTY keypads as well as ESC, TAB, CAPS, SPACEBAR, BACK, ENTER, etc. Also on the keypad is SELECT, START and PS button. But some additional buttons that make it easier for gamers is the ability to view messages and friends list with their own dedicated buttons. With these two dedicated buttons, it cuts down on time and hassle of having to navigate through menus after pressing the PS button. Another nice feature is the touch sensitive keypad allowing gamers to swipe across the keypad surface. But the keypads themselves are a bit small and will require some getting use to.

The keypad has its own battery and does not run off the Dual Shock or SIXAXIS power. So this requires a Mini-USB to charge the battery.

To use the touchpad, you simply press the button that looks like a pointing finger cursor and the enter keypad becomes a touchpad. The idea is to sweep your finger over the buttons to navigate the XMB or web browser. The concept is nice but fails at what it does due to lack of a smooth surface.

Conclusion : Overall, the PlayStation 3 Wireless QWERTY Keypad makes typing a lot easier. However, they keypads are a tad bit small and the touch sensitive keypad isn't as responsive as I would like it to be. Another feature I hoped that they had incorporated was taking power from the controller rather than having its own rechargeable battery. This means another item needs to be charged. Is it worth the $50? Depends on if you're a heavy texter. It would look more eye catching if the MSRP was the same as MS Chatpad ($30).

The PLAYSTATION®Eye has the ability to reduce background noise and focus on the spoken word for smoother, more accurate speech recognition and transfer. The fast frame rate allows for improved tracking and responsiveness for pristine video quality. Using EyeCreate™ and the PLAYSTATION®Eye camera, you can capture video, audio and even photos which can then be edited into a movie. An extensive list of special effects such as Color Filters, Distortions, Art Filters and Motion Trails can give your video a professional touch. There are even advanced features such as Time Lapse and Stop Motion to experiment with. Once you're done creating and editing your masterpiece, Export it to watch it on the Video folder of the XMB. EyeCreate™ will let you express yourself and get creative!

    Features :
    • Built-in 4 microphone array
    • Chat with up to 6 people at once
    • Ultra fast frame rate of 120 frames per second ensures pristine video quality
    • Engineered to work well in low light conditions
    • Includes free EyeCreate Software download

Quality/Usability : The PlayStation 3 Eye USB 2.0 Camera is the successor of Sony's popular EyeToy for the PlayStation 2. The PS3 Eye is not only available by itself, it also comes with The Eye of Judgment collectible card game. This review will be based only on the camera.

The PlayStation Eye works exactly like its predecessor, EyeToy. Setup is easy. Just plug it into the PS3 via USB. Upon setting up the PlayStation Eye, you can preview what the Eye is looking at by simply going to "Camera Device Settings" than "Accessory Settings". This will show you what the Eye sees and you can change between 50hz or 60hz.

Above the lens are 4 microphones underneath the mesh grill. These microphones can detect where the voice is coming from. Underneath the microphones are two LEDs. The red LED on the left shows that the Eye is in use. The blue LED on the right shows that it is plugged and powered on.

What's nice about the Eye is that there is ZOOM as well as an auto-focus. You do not have to manually twist the lens in order to focus on the picture. It does it for you without you touching it. However, there are two settings on the lens where you will have to twist the lens for normal distance and ZOOM.

Since I no longer own a EyeToy, I can not compare the both side by side but the quality of the image on the Eye is pretty good. Not clear and crisp as you would find on a camera/video camera but better than your cellphone video and webcams.

The PS Eye comes with a EyeCreate editing software. It allows you to save photos, videos, and audio clips onto your PS3 hard drive. Once you have saved your images, you can add visual effects to it.

Videos can be recorded as big as 640×480 (up to 60fps) in video-capture mode. It can record as low as 320x240 (up to 120fps). Videos are saved in MPEG4 format.

Video chatting worked great and looked sharp. Depending on connection, you will notice a image lag but the audio doesnt lag/skip.

Conclusion : Overall, PlayStation 3 Eye USB 2.0 Camera works great and will come in handy when games and the PS3 finally takes advantage of it. As mentioned The Eye of Judgement takes full advantage of the PS Eye. Burnout Paradise only takes advantage of it for the license pictures. There is a lot of potential for the Eye especially when HOME comes out. Hopefully more games will also take advantage of the Eye as well.

Too bad there is only one ZOOM. So if you're sitting far away from your TV, the Eye will be capturing a lot of the background as well as your surroundings instead of just majority of you.

    PS3 Controller Power Charge Stand
    Manufacturer: Dragonplus
    Site: Buy from Goldenshop
    Price: $7.00

    Overview :

    Features :
    • High quality 3rd party product.
    • Quick charge function with any USB socket - e.g. PSX3, computer, etc...
    • Fully compatible with the PSX3 wireless controller.
    • Easy to fix the controller on to the stand and easy to eject it by pressing the button.
    • 2 Power Charge Stand can be fixed together easily.

Quality/Usability : The Controller Power Charger Stand charges your PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS controller. Aesthetically, the stand looks bland and plain. So as long it does its job that's all it matter...but does it?

The charger stand recharges the SIXAXIS by connecting to any USB port whether it be the PS3 or on your computer/laptop. There is no ON/OFF switch but the moment you plug your SIXAXIS into the stand, it starts charging. Right above the USB plug that inserts into the SIXAXIS is a "mirror" This allows you to see the LED light on the controller. On the top of the charger stand is a button. This button helps push the controller off the stand.

With the SIXAXIS placed into the charger stand, it takes about 2-3 hours for the controller to be fully charged which allows you approximately 30 hours of gameplay on a single charge.

Conclusion : Overall, the PS3 Controller Power Charge Stand does its job by recharging the Li-ion batteries on the SIXAXIS. The use of the button to help push the SIXAXIS off the USB plug seems pointless to me as you can easily just pull the controller out. The ability to also attach another PS3 Controller Charge Stand back to back is nice but you'll have to plug the second stand into another USB port.

    XCM XFPS Fire Light Gun
    Manufacturer: XCM
Site: Buy from Play-Asia / Buy from Divineo China / Buy from ConsoleSource / Buy from GoldenShop / Buy from Amazon.com
    Price: $89.99

Overview : XFPS Fire Light Gun brings first person shooters to a whole new experience. With the XFPS Storm, you can snipe your foes with precision aiming using this unique light gun. No more keyboard, no more mouse and having to rest your wrist with point and click. Simply point and shoot.

The Fire will support CRT, LCD, Plasma, DLP as well as Projector. It supports every gun shooting game on the PlayStation 3.

Compatible with different versions of PS3/Slim consoles.

Quality/Usability : Everyone loves the good ole point and shoot like Duck Hunt for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Yes, there is Time Crisis but the gun only works for that specific game. What about first person shooters such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Call of Duty, Battlefield and many others? XCM plans to fill that void by releasing a peripheral gun that lets you aim, move and shoot. Its simply a gun and a controller in one.

The Fire Light Gun feels comfortable in the hands and is light enough to be held in one hand. Attached to the side is a smaller grip that can be detached. Buttons can be found on the detachable grip and on the gun itself, on both sides. The right side of the gun contains the usual TRIANGLE, CIRCLE, SQUARE and X as well as a "S" button, ON/OFF switch for Turbo and L2 button. On the left side, there is a directional pad, PS home button, SELECT, START and R1 button. The front of the detachable grip has a L1 and IGNORE button. Both the gun and grip contain an analog stick that can be pressed in (R3/L3 respectively).

In order for the Fire Light Gun to be recognized, it requires a sensor bar to be connected to the PS3 or a USB port similar to that of the Wii. You will also need to connect the gun to a USB port as well. So you will need two USB ports in order to use the Fire Light Gun.

Whats great about this is that its all plug and play. The moment you plug it in, the gun is being tracked. You can even control the XMB with the gun but can get some getting use to and is a little sensitive. The analog stick on the grip moves your character while the analog stick on the gun controls the view. All the buttons are pretty much self explanatory as they perform the same functions as that of the controller. You can even program the SQUARE, TRIANGLE, CIRCLE, X, R1, R2, L1, L2, R3, L3, START, SELECT, directional pad and IGNORE buttons.

To program buttons say for instance, R1 to R2 on the XFPS Fire Light gun, press the "S" button on the Fire Light gun once. The LED indicator will light up and than press R2. The LED indicator will start blinking, now press the R1 and the LED indicator will turn off. This means the programming is complete. The R2 button will now function as the R1 but the R1 button has remained the same and unchanged (now two buttons act as R1). If you want to set the R2 button to the R1, you can follow the same steps even though the R2 button is already programmed to function as the R1 button. To revert back to previous function, press the "S" button once. The LED indicator will light up. Press the R1 button and the LED indicator will start blinking. Rather than press R2, press R1 again and the LED indicator will turn off. This can be done for other buttons.

To swap the analog sticks, press the "S" button and the LED indicator will light up. Push any direction on the RIGHT analog stick and the LED indicator will turn off. Now the function of both analog sticks has been swapped. If you want to set them back to their original function, just repeat the steps again. If you swapped a lot of buttons and dont want to go through each swapping, you can simply press and hold the "S" button for 3 seconds. The light on the LED indicator will blink quickly. This will indicate that all the buttons have returned to their original functions.

Since there is no software to configure the gun, near the eye sight on top of the gun, there is a dial that lets you increase and decrease the X and Y axis sensitivity.

For games with relatively simple control schemes, the game is fun. But with games that requires more buttons to access weapons, inventory list, etc., it requires some getting use to as to where the buttons are and the feel since you're probably use to the controller and its button layout. Accessing button on the gun can be a little hard especially when you have the nunchuk detached.

Conclusion : Overall, the XCM XFPS Fire Light Gun. The XCM XFPS Fire Light Gun is very very similar to the XCM XFPS Storm Light Gun for the PC. Only difference is the color and markings on the buttons. It may take some getting use to in regards to button layout and trying to access buttons is a little hard when you're hand is already holding a detached nunchuk. Its perfect for games that dont have many button presses but for those games require lots of button presses to access weapons or inventory lists, hope you're fast and dont need to access them during a gun battle.

You can also use the XFPS Fire Light Gun on the Xbox 360 by using the XCM Cross Fire Converter.

    • PS3 Console (fat or slim)
    • Console (firmware) version 3.41 only
    • Remove all discs from the drive
    • Do not connect any devices to the console via USB
    • IMPORTANT: The console must be completely switched off before using PS SAMURAI. For fat versions, use the switch at the rear. For slim versions, simply remove the power cable. This is extremely important for the process to work correctly when you start the console.

    Features :
    • USB Plug and Play solution that installs in seconds without any need to open up the PS3.
    • Does not break your warranty seal.
    • Compatible with all PS3 models*, both Fat and Slim.
    • Supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA.
    • Fully updatable via USB on your PC using an encrypted bootloader
    • 32KB onboard flash (most competing products only have 16KB flash)
    • Disables forced software updates and will never brick your console.
    • Supports most games and homebrew applications.
    • Easy-to-use software for backing up, managing, and playing games from external USB Hard Drive.
    • Playing games from HDD is much more enjoyable, benefiting from greatly enhanced seek and loading times.
    • Supports installing homebrew application on PS3 and external USB media.
    • Optionally PS Samurai can be supplied with an “open” firmware which does not support backup loading. Users would then have to download a firmware update for PS Samurai to get full functionality.
      * Currently not compatible with 3.42 firmware

Quality/Usability : The first thing that comes to mind when you look at PS Samurai (or atleast for me) is the infamous picture of the red dongle from PSJailbreak. I thought it was a mock-up image of PS Samurai's dongle but after receiving it, its not. PS Samurai comes in a small anti-static bag like majority of dongles that are being shipped out. The dongle is covered with a red rubber cover which not only protects the dongle but makes a great grip. The rubber cover can be easily slipped on and off. Removing the rubber cover exposes the metal casing. This casing itself looks exactly like the PSJailbreak, PS3Key and AVRKey. There is also no writing or logo on the housing. The dongle measures approximately 1.25" (length) x 0.50" (wide) without the rubber cap. Like the PS3Key and AVRKey, PS Samurai is running on ATMEL MEGA32U2 (ATMEGA32U2) and is upgradeable via USB port. The USB board also contains two leds; red and green. Red is for when the jailbreak is being performed and Green for when it is successful.

Instructions on How to Load PS Samurai firmware, HEX (.hex) Files, Import Payloads (.bin) or ERASE files :
    Required files:

Before you start, you MUST download Microsoft's Visual C++. Without this, PS Samurai's Upgrader software will not work and will give an error when you try and open it. Once you've downloaded C++, download PS Samurai's Upgrader software via link above. To get the PS Samurai into Update Mode, all you have to do is insert the dongle into the USB port on your computer. When it enters into update mode, no LED is lit up but when you open the software, it will tell you if the dongle is connected. You can also tell by the little pop-up notifications on Windows. I like how the PS Samurai Upgrader software is set up, however each time there is a new software file, you'll have to download the newest upgrader software for the latest updates. It would be convenient if there was an option to check for the latest software or files and download it over the software rather than go to their site and download the latest software. On the Upgrader software, you're able to load their own proprietary file (PSSAMURAI FIRMWARE), PSGroove HEX (.hex) files, Import payload (.bin) files or ERASE the files on the PS Samurai. So, if you want the latest updates, you can simply load the HEX files and than load PS Samurai files when it becomes available if you wanted to. To load the files, select the method you want to load your files whether it be PS Samurai's firmware, HEX files or importing payloads and select the file you want to load. Once selected, click on START and the software will begin to upgrade the dongle with the file you selected. Once completed, it will pop up with a message and click OK. Now, you're able to remove the dongle from the computer and into the PS3.

    Wii Component Cable
    Manufacturer: Dragonplus
    Site: Buy from Brando
    Price: $7.00

Overview : Component Video connection from PS3 to TV with component input

    Features :
    • Component-Video Connection from Playstation 3 to TV with component input
    • Offers high quality signal
    • Support 1080i/720p HDTV System
    • Length: 1.8 Meters

Quality/Usability : Like any home consoles, they all come with composite cables. No one likes composite cables especially if you have a high-definition TV set. Eventually, as all home owners buy new TVs, future home consoles will have component cable included as everyone will/should have HDTV already.

With the price you paid for the PS3 whether its the 20GB or 60GB, you want your moneys worth (besides software support). Dragonplus has entered the market with their first PS3/PS2 Component/AV Cable. The cable not only works on your PS3 but your PS2 as well. The cable is compatible with 1080i/720p HDTVs.

The cable shows picture clarity and brighter colors for the PS3. better than the composite cables. Edges are not as blurred and the edges are more defined. The colors with the component cable are slightly brighter than they are with composite.

With the PS2 connected, there wasnt much improvement over the Official cables that came with the system. There might have been a slightly better picture clarity and brighter colors but I couldnt tell with the naked eye.

Conclusion : Overall, the PS3 Component Cable is a nice alternative for the PS2 but for the PS3, its an improvement over the composite cables. You'll definitely notice a difference in color and texture. This is a nice temporary solution until Sony comes out with one or a permanent one. Its up to you. For the price tag of $7, you cant go wrong. Although there is the HDMI option (if your TV supports it).

NEXiLUX Retractable Wireless Mini Guitar (Wii/PS2)
    Manufacturer: NEXiLUX
Site: Buy from Divineo France (Black) / Buy from Divineo France (White)
    Price: 49,90 €

Overview : You take the stage! Guitar Hero and Rock Band games : All-In-One! Mini size with detachable neck. Easy to carry or store.

    Features:
    • Fully compatible with PS2/PS3/Wii guitar hero and rockband
    • All-New touch sensitive neck slider can be nailing intense solos when playing Guitar Hero World Tour and also be five touch sensitive fret buttons when playing other editions of Guitar Hero and Rock Band
    • Retractable Guitar Neck is detachable from guitar body.
    • Convenient to carry around store.
    • Increased accuracy with more responsive fret buttons
    • Jam effortlessly with an elongated strum bar
    • Auto sleep mode helps improve battery life.

Quality/Usability : It sucks having to lug around a 1 piece guitar if you're going to a friend or family members house so NEXiLUX has released a retractable mini guitar. The base guitar strum bar, whammy bar, 5-way switch (Rock Band only), thumb stick, directional pad, SELECT/minus (-) and START/plus (+) button. The back of the base holds the Wii Remote with remote cover and a compartment for 3 AAA batteries and the bottom has a switch for to select between Wii Guitar Hero (WII GH), OFF and PS2/PS3/ Wii Rock Band (PS3/PS2/WII RB). The retractable neck has 5 touch sensitive slider buttons and 5 fret buttons. Also included is a wireless receiver for PS3 and PS2 usage.

Upon opening the package, I noticed that the Wii Remote cover had fallen out so I tried closing it and the latch broke off. It looked as if the PCB board inside was blocking the latch from clipping and it snapped off. This is probably a defect with the unit I received. I have not read or heard any other complaints about this.

All the buttons felt sturdy as well as the retractable guitar as well. Since the Wii Remote is in the back and covered, you would use the thumbstick to move the hand cursor. However, the thumbstick doesnt act as the "A" button, so you would need to reach for the back of the guitar and press the "A" button.

To play on Wii, simply connect Wii controller and turn on the Wii. To play PS2/PS3 Guitar Hero/Rock Band or Wii Rock Band, insert the receiver into one of the USB ports on the console. Turn the console ON. The receiver has four (4) BLUE game indicators located on the top and one (1) RED connection indicator located on the front of it. The red LED will illuminate indicating a proper connection has been made. If no connection has been made, the red LEDs will begin to flash indicating the receiver is searching for the Guitar controller.

Press the "Game Selection" button on the front side of the receiver to select the game you are going to play. Push the game selection button once, the indicator will be lighted on different positions. Push one by one until the proper game indicator LED is on.

Switch the guitar controller to the "PS3/PS2/WII RB" setting. The red LED will begin to flash indicating the guitar controller is searching for the receiver. Once the guitar controller and receiver have successfully synchronized, the LED on the guitar controller will turn off and the red connection indicators on the receiver will turn solid red.

The Features list is from NEXiLUX and it states that the touch sensitive buttons can be used for other editions of Guitar Hero but I was not able to get it to work with Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock for the Wii. The touch sensitive buttons is a sliding bar for Guitar Hero World Tour or as solo buttons for Rock Band. You will need to extend the neck of the guitar to expose the 5 fret buttons.

Conclusion : Overall, the NEXiLUX Retractable Wireless Mini Guitar (Wii/PS2) is a compact guitar but falls short. I may not be the best at Guitar Hero or Rock Band but comparing the scores between GH controllers that came with the game and NEXiLUX mini guitar, I did worse based on my scores. I was missing cords that I know I hit but seems to have a delayed response. The NEXiLUX comes with a drawstring pouch that holds the guitar for easy carrying and storage. Setup and connecting the guitar controller to console was fairly easy and with no problems.
