Call of Duty: Black Ops sold a whopping 1.4 million copies in its first day on sale in the UK.

That's the biggest UK day one performance ever – it sold 14 per cent more units than Modern Warfare 2 did during its first day on sale.

Let's put that day one sales figure into perspective. Namco Bandai's Enslaved has sold 800,000 units worldwide. MTV Games' Rock Band 3 sold 7386 units for the week ending 30th October in the UK. Microsoft's Xbox 360 exclusive Fable III sold 129,000 units in the UK during its first week on sale.

Figures released by UKIE/GfK Chart-Track to MCV reveal revenues of £58 million.

Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 sold 1.23 million units on day one, generating £47.7 million.

Treyarch's Black Ops enjoyed the biggest entertainment launch of all time across the US and UK, according to Activision, selling 5.6 million units combined day one and generating $360 million.

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, one of 2010's biggest hits, sold in 6.9 million units worldwide during its first three months on sale.

When Activision's financial year ends, how many Black Ops units will have been sold?

Sony Public Relations Manager Alex Armour has officially confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 will be released on November 24, 2010.

The date is locked in: Gran Turismo 5 will go on sale throughout North America on Wednesday, November 24th.

That means you’ll be experiencing over 1,000 cars, including karts and select NASCAR cars, scores of tracks, the all-new Course Maker, a dynamic weather system, a robust online community, and everything else Gran Turismo 5 has to offer in less than two weeks.

Along with confirming the November 24th date, Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. had this to say:

Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.

Don’t forget to pre-order Gran Turismo 5 if you haven’t already to ensure your copy day one and receive a voucher for one of five free downloadable cars with a custom Stealth Model skin and a $10 Video Game credit at Amazon.com.

There are numerous inferior clones and copycats out on the market claiming to be compatable with our support. This is FALSE!!! Buy original from a trusted reseller or risk beeing stuck with a paperweight.

    Specifications:
The wait is finally over! New users above 3.41 fw its time to join in on the fun. Thanks to PS Downgrade, PS Jailbreak is now available for all 44 million users.

PS Downgrade is a software add on that connects with your existing PS Jailbreak device. In 1 minute or less you can downgrade your consoles firmware to any previous firmware.

Simple to install; just plug PS Jailbreak into your pc and follow the gui to install PS Downgrade. Works with all past, present and future firmwares!

Turn back your console to 3.41 to jailbreak with the worlds original PS Jailbreak, or even go as far back as 3.12 to enjoy Other OS (yes LINUX is back). Completely safe to use, and does not void your warranty. PS Downgrade is completely undetecable by manufacturer, there is no history or log of your downgrade.

Please note: PS Downgrade is ONLY compatible with original PS Jailbreak, no clones or inferior USB dongles.

It’s interesting to note, that the downgrade can only be used once. According to the source, “1 time downgrade, cannot downgrade more then once, or to a lower firmware after you choose which firmware”.

The video below is from an official reseller but here is the kicker...they are charging $40 for the downgrade PLUS the cost of the PS Jailbreak dongle. It seems to be confirmed by other resellers that the PS Downgrade is NOT free and that you'll have to fork over $40 to downgrade. Below are the prices pulled from http://www.ps-downgrade.com/checkout.htm
    • PS Jailbreak + PS Downgrade $125.00
    • PS Jailbreak $100.00
    • PS Downgrade (Requires a PS Jailbreak) $40.00

    Suggested Retail Pricing
    • 1PC 40.00$ USD
    • 2PC 38.00$ USD
    • 5PC 35.00$ USD
    • 10PC 33.00$ USD
    • 50PC 30.00$ USD
    • 100PC 27.00$ USD

PS Jailbreak team has said that they worked really hard on this and to prevent others from cloning or hacking their own products. What do you think? You think it can be done? This is great news for the PS3 Scene, but I would of loved to see a 3.50 jailbreak.

Microsoft might soon start using its Kinect technology to automatically customise Xbox 360 content depending on who is using the system.

Gamasutra reports that Dennis Durkin of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business told the BMO Capital Markets conference in New York that Kinect was opening up some surprising opportunities for the platform holder.

"I think what we've found is the core gamer may have been the person who brought the box into the house, but as you add new experiences and broader content choices for other members of the house, they come and use the system. We can track some of that usage as it relates to broader family members in the house.

"Kinect actually brings an interesting opportunity as it relates to that," he continued. "Obviously with Kinect, it has facial recognition, voice recognition... we can cater what content gets presented to you based on who you are."

"Your wife in the future might get a different set of content choices than you because we have a smart device that knows her preferences are different than yours."

Kinect's creative director Kudo Tsunoda yesterday told Eurogamer that Microsoft had only just started to explore the full capabilities of its new control system.

"We're very excited about what we have for launch, but again we're just scratching the service," he added. "You're going to be able to get new features, new types of things we're going to develop all with the hardware that you buy today."

Kinect launched across Europe on 10th November.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed how many consoles the platform holder has shifted in the US to date compared to rivals Sony and Microsoft.

As reported by Gamasutra, citing NPD data, Fils-Aime told the BMO Capital Markets Annual Digital Entertainment Conference in New York that the Wii has sold 30.4 million units in the US and 43.1 million DSes.

In comparison, Microsoft has sold 21.9 million Xbox 360s, while Sony has moved 13.5 million PlayStation 3s and 17.7 million PSPs.

In the wake of news that both Nintendo's systems have been showing rapid decline this year, Fils-Aime went on to explain how, as ever, it will be looking to the Christmas period for a sales bump.

"The holidays are more important to Nintendo than to other manufacturers," said Fils-Aime.

"We have a distinct edge when it comes to gift-giving, and it's no doubt because of the familiarity and recognition of both our brand and key franchises," he said, before claiming that nearly half of all Nintendo hardware sales in 2009 came in the last two months of the year.

"For everyone else that number was just over 40 per cent," he claimed.

"The disparity on the software side is even greater," Fils-Aime added. "For Nintendo platforms, 44 per cent of all game sales came during November and December. For the rest of the industry, that number was only 33 per cent."

Nintendo's Christmas line-up this year includes Donkey Kong Country Returns and Wii Party. US gamers also have Kirby's Epic Yarn to enjoy.
