EA takes its first steps into PlayStation Home today, with the American launch of a Godfather II space, according to the US PlayStation Blog.

The space celebrates the release of the slightly ropey crime sequel, and features a Texas Hold 'Em poker table.

There will also be some additions to Capcom's Resident Evil 5 space: a new mini-game quest, souvenir shop and costumes.

According to an official post on the European Home forums, the Resi 5 update is currently being localised for Europe, while the Godfather II and Guitar Hero spaces are still going through regional approval processes.

Localisation is also under way for the Warhawk, SOCOM and Uncharted spaces that launched in the US some time ago.

European Home users, however, do get something their American counterparts don't. T-shirt company MySoti is launching its range in Home - including the best of its community-designed shirts.

If you have a t-shirt design burning a hole in your brain, you can submit it to MySoti and stand a chance of it appearing for sale in the virtual as well as the real world. Plus, you'll get a share of the profits.

Only designs voted as Most Wanted will be included, and the service will only be available in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. ...

For a moment, let's ignore that the PS3 has more room for upgrades and that its potential has yet to even be near-maxed. Let's ignore that PSN is not only good as Xbox Live, but that it's free. I won't throw dirt at Microsoft over their questionable business practices (homophobia and not covering the return of defunct systems comes to mind). I'll even lay aside the fact that recently the PS3 has been rapidly gaining on the other large consoles in worldwide sales and exceeding them in some countries. I'm only going to cover capability and past performance.

It's easy to dig up an entire library of graphics comparisons between the 360 and PS3 and almost every time, the Xbox 360 walks away the victor. Why? These 'comparisons' are done by comparing screenshots of multiport games, many of them games that originated with the 360 before being ported over to the PS3. The 'better' 360 images (which are really just darker and uniform-cut) are designed to accommodate the weaker system. A game developed specifically for the PS3, such as Killzone 2, will always trump a 360-specific or multiplatform game when it comes to graphics.

To prove this, we have to turn to hardware capabilities. The PS3's GPU has nearly triple the processing power of the 360's GPU. I won't go into the specific numbers behind this (an example can be found here), but suffice to say that as programmers adapt to the difficulty of programming for the PS3, the differences between the systems will shine on a larger scale. The 360 is the easy way out for now, but it has its limitations.

Performance aside, consider capability. You can use the PS3 to browse the internet independently, whereas the 360 is dependent upon being heavily modded or having to run it through a PC. Also consider what you're getting for the price. The PS3 comes with a hefty price tag compared to the 360, but it's worth it considering it includes a Blu-ray player, with unlimited storage to boot (via the new external drive capability). It plays normal DVDs and, if you want a larger game library, the older PS3 can run PS2 titles. You can't beat a Blu-ray player, gaming console, web browser and free multiplayer in one.

Now, the Wii? We won't even go there. The system relies on additions to the console or repetition. Each game seems to need a special controller or pad and those that don't are the same plots with new characters (Pokemon, anyone?) or the same characters with no-effort new plots.

Today Telltale announced sales of Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People have doubled since Nintendo unveiled its long-awaited Wii storage solution two weeks ago. Telltale did not provide exact sales figures, however.

Strong Bad's game is an episodic point-and-click series downloadable via Nintendo's WiiWare service. The new storage solution allows gamers to play games off of an SD card, rather than from the Wii's limited internal memory. Apparently, gamers are taking advantage of all this new memory space and downloading more games – Strong Bad's Cool Game, particularly.

"Nintendo's new solution really opens the door for players to add to their collection of downloadable games, which is critical for a series with multiple installments," says Telltale CEO Dan Connors. "This is a major step forward for episodic gaming. We're looking forward to even greater success on WiiWare with Strong Bad, as well as other projects."

The five episodes in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People received an average review score of 8.4 from IGN.

Yesterday at the MI6 Conference held in downtown San Francisco, an annual panel was formed to discuss the future and direction of the videogame industry.

It's called the Gaming 20/20 Panel and this year included Michael Pachter, Managing Director of Research at Wedbush Morgan Securities as moderator; John Pleasants, COO of Electronic Arts; Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K; Kai Huang, Co-Founder of Red Octane; Darrell Rodriguez, President of LucasArts; and JJ Richards, GM Massive.

While nothing truly newsworthy came out of the discussion, I jotted down some of the more interesting exchanges and quips that I heard during the hour and a half talk.

-The software attach rate on Wii was the highest last year of the three major consoles.

-2K's success with Carnival Games: Almost 3 million copies sold. The PC budget market consumer is very similar to Wii consumer according to Christoph Hartmann.

-Guitar Hero sells better on Wii than any other platform.

-No panel member knows how to perfectly market and build a game to attract the Wii user.

-John Pleasants said he wasn't sure there was going to be another console cycle. Michael Pachter responded by saying, "When I told my friends at Microsoft that I didn't think there was going to be another console cycle they asked me, 'What are you smoking?'"

-JJ Richards says that the PS3 has been slightly de-emphasized when speaking about Massive's overall strategy.

-Christoph Hartmann thinks that PS3 sales will start to pick up in Europe, similarly to the trend that was set with the PS2. Says 2K is very committed to PS3.

-Kai Huang echoed the notion that the PS3 is still a viable and strong console with a bright future.

-Christoph Hartmann asked John Pleasants of EA, "Who has the best basketball game? Who has the best basketball game?" Alluding to the fact that NBA 2K9 was far superior to NBA Live 09.

-Michael Pacter thinks that the music genre is not a fad saying, "People think gamers are going to get tired of playing music games, but that's like saying they're going to get tired of putting songs on their iPod."

-John Pleasants says people are working on "next-generation music experiences." Also saying that the music game space will be around for at least the next ten years.

-Darrell Rodriguez says, "We need to be careful about over-accessorization" when talking about music game peripherals.

-The conversation was completely derailed at one point when Michael Pachter went off on a tangent that included him talking about the penises that were created in Spore's Creature Creator.

-When asked about onLive JJ Richards said, "Can't wait to actually see it work in my house." Darrell Rodriguez says that it is the future of gaming but just about every panelist agreed that it is a distant future.

Today Ubisoft announced that the Rabbids will receive their own standalone brand with the Holiday 2009 release of the comedy-adventure Rabbids Go Home. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the team behind Beyond Good & Evil, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids, the game will benefit from a new engine designed specifically for the Wii home video game system from Nintendo, offering the Rabbids a hilarious adventure in a brand new universe.

The Rabbids are already beloved the world over, selling 6.5 million copies of their raving adventures and starring in their own series of videos that have kept web surfers laughing for years. Moving up to top billing with their own brand of games was a logical next step and fans will now be able to enjoy the fun in this humorous adventure game where the Rabbids unleash their insanity onto the human world as they attempt to return to their Rabbid home.

sepp256 has posted a nice long article about Wii64 - N64 Emulator for Wii and WIISX - Playstation Emulator for Wii, heres the article:

First off, the April 1st Tiizer video is actual gameplay using a recent dev build of Wii64. As you can tell, tehpola has made tremendous progress in debugging and optimizing the dynamic recompiling core. However, there are still a handful of showstopping bugs that we need to work through before we can make a public release. Also, you should be aware that not all of your favorite games will run on the initial release because of a variety of reasons. We are not planning on initially supporting the Expansion Pak because of memory limitations. After further optimizations, tweaks, and profiling to reduce our memory consumption, then we hope to add Expansion Pak support. We may not initially support games that execute code directly from the cart or that use virtual memory (i.e. Goldeneye) because this requires more investigation and significant code changes in the dynarec to implement. Also, some graphics microcodes aren’t supported in glN64, so a few games such as Conkers BFD won’t work just yet. But, sit tight and we’ll continue to work on more features for Wii64 after the initial release.

A complete re-code of the Wii64 gui is underway, so you’ll be able to enjoy using the wii-mote for navigation and also some sleek new graphics. We’ll have a new look for the initial release, but we also plan on adding more features to the gui over time for your enjoyment.

If you have watched any of the recent gameplay videos, then you know that the accuracy of the glN64 port has increased substantially since the Wii64 Tiizer release we made for the Homebrew Channel. Because GX is not 1:1 with openGL, there was a lot of investigation and tweaking required for me to get the behavior on GC/Wii close to what glN64 looks like on PC. There are still a variety of bugs for different games, so don’t expect everything to look perfect, yet. Emu_kidid is a great tester, and he is maintaining an internal graphical issue list to work on. I hope to add a couple more features to glN64 prior to release, including glN64’s primitive framebuffer texture support as well as 2xSaI scaling for textures. The plan is, of course, to continue hunting down bugs and adding features after the upcoming release.

As for the other graphics plugins, glN64_GX is much faster than both soft_gfx and GX_gfx, so we may only release a build with glN64_GX. The only drawback is that currently glN64_GX won’t render graphics for demos that only directly manipulate the framebuffer with the CPU. However, when I have time I’ll add a feature into glN64_GX that will allow it to render the N64’s framebuffer rather than rendering primitives passed through the N64’s graphics pipeline. Then, you can just flip an option in the menu when you are running homebrew N64 games and demos that write directly to the framebuffer. Also, I have already done some work on porting Rice’s video plugin to Wii64. Rice supports more microcodes than glN64, including the one that Conkers BFD uses, and it should be faster than glN64. We have a vision of supporting custom texture packs in Wii64, so we will implement that feature as well. We hope that you, our users, will contribute your creative talents in developing texture packs to share with the Wii64 community. We can’t say when custom texture pack support will be finished, but expect it sometime in the future.

Some of you have been asking for an update on WiiSX. We are planning on working on a release of WiiSX after the upcoming Wii64 release. The reason we have not done a release yet is because there were some serious bugs in SVN last fall, and we also wanted to focus on completing Wii64. We have since resolved some WiiSX issues, internally, and so once Wii64 is out the door, we feel that we can also follow up with a WiiSX release relatively soon afterwards.

Finally, we’d continue to ask that if you enjoy using Wii64 when it’s out that you consider donating to the project. Right now, most of the donations we receive go toward hosting costs. However, there are also some small accessories like component cables and classic controllers that we are considering purchasing with donation funds to aid in development.

It's hard to run something like this and get decent footage at the same time.

In any case there is a lot of Dreamcast (and Saturn) action in it. During the Tournament I even used the Dreamcast Atari collection.

The most popular Dreamcast titles were Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 2. I had seven different stations set up with classic video game systems including an Atati 2600, NES, N64, Genesis, PS1, Saturn, 2 Dreamcasts, and a couple of PCs with Starcraft and Doom multiplayer set up on them.

The Dreamcast systems were by far the most popular with the general public.
