BioWare is is "looking into" making games for Wii and PSP in order to offer a wider array of titles.

"We're looking into Wii and PSP as a company... but nothing has been decided, and nothing has been announced. And we are, from styles of games - we are trying to broaden our portfolio," Mark Darrah, project lead for Sonic Chronicles, told Gamasutra.

He revealed the DS role-playing project had swollen to around 30 staff at one point, but despite the help and scale it had remained a frustrating platform to develop for.

"I mean, the hardware is challenging for someone who's done console or PC development, just because it's got four megabytes of memory, and it's very much hardware from - if you compare it to a PC, it's like hardware from 14 years ago."

Traditionally, BioWare has been a PC developer, but it moved onto Xbox with Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, before creating Xbox 360 epic Mass Effect.

It was also bought by mega-publisher EA last October.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood will be its first DS game when it comes out September.

For some people, Metal Gear Online is a nice extra that comes on the same disc as Metal Gear Solid 4. For others – which we refrain from calling crazy – MGO is actually more exciting to them than Kojima's blockbuster single-player game.

For those weirdos gamers who fall into the strictly MGO camp, Konami has announced plans to make the online multiplayer game based on MGS available as its own, stand-alone product ... in Japan. The disc will set buyers back $17 and be content-identical to the client that comes on MGS4's biggie-sized 50GB Blu-ray disc. MGO is set to receieve a number of gameplay and content updates in the coming months, including new characters, items, and maps.

We've contacted Konami for any word – good or bad – on the stand-alone MGO's prospects of coming Stateside via PSN or other delivery methods. No word back yet, but we wouldn't count a PSN release out. ...

Ben Heckendorn, a total techno whiz and contributor to Engadget, has completed his latest custom handheld ... this time cramming an Atari 7800 into something you can carry around with you. (It's no PSP slim, but hey.)

Heck's 7800 portable combines a 7-inch LCD screen with some notable goodies, including video out, rechargeable batteries, and a paddle controller (in addition to the basic D-Pad). As usual, Heck made the thing just to prove he could. His past creations cover a wide variety of gaming "dream tech," including a portable SNES, "PS360" controller, and a Wii "laptop." He's also the brains behind the Access Controller, a commercially available one-handed pad for PS2, PS3, and PC. The fella is crazy creative – give a look-see to his body of work! ...

Free MC Boot is an 'exploit' that allows a user to install it on official 8MB Sony MC's as well as 3rd party cards. (with the exception of those needing a boot disc to be recognized or cloned Chinese cards)

    1.4b

    - Added CNF-Support (thanx to beerboy for the idea)
    - Added support to launch OSDSYS (auto and manual) by Neme
    - Added FastBoot-Support
    - Fixed Bug on PS2-Slim-Consoles, that were freezing on "decrypting dvdelf"

It creates only your osdxxx.elf file and an empty BOOT folder on the Memory Card.

You can optionnally put in the same folder that the installer :
    - "DVDELF.BIN" file to replace your rom dvdelf taken by default for inject (It must be encrypted, so just taken out from rom).
    - "BOOT.ELF" file to be injected in dvdelf and replace the Free McBoot loader.

The installer creates a mcX:/SYS-CONF/FREEMCB.CNF config file if it not already exist.

    Config Options :
    - for boot from usb use for example : mass:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    - for boot from memcard use for example : mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or mc1:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    - you can use too for example : mc?:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF it wills check for the file in the two slots
    - LK_???_E1 entries are first boot attempt, and LK_???_E2 entries are secondary boot file
    - All LK_???_E1 and LK_???_E2 entries can either be set to a path or to "OSDSYS", in the second case if no key is pressed you will be rejected to the browser. If you set a path it will be booted if no key pressed.
    - AutoBoot_Disc option allow to check if a ps2 disk is present (Close the tray !!!) and boot it, set it to 0 to avoid this.
    - Debug_Screen set to 1 allow to keep the Green debug screen if no boot file is found, if set to 0 reject to browser.

By default, config file is set to boot like that (if you press R1) :
    - mc?:/BOOT/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc?:/BOOT/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc?:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc?:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT1.ELF
    BOOT2.ELF if you press R2.
    BOOT3.ELF if you press L1.
    BOOT4.ELF if you press L2.
Rejected to browser if no key pressed or no boot file found.
It auto boot ps2 disks so close your cdvd tray.

You should not see Red screen if the CNF is readed, if you experience red screen check that you have config file in valid path.

If you don't want of this config file, delete it !

    __________________________________________________

If no config file is found the loader boots like 1.4 :
    - mass0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    - mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    - mc1:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    - mc0:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF (where ? is your region.)
    - mc1:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF

    If you hold R1 button:
    - mass0:/BOOT/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc0:/BOOT/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc1:/BOOT/BOOT1.ELF
    - mc0:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT1.ELF (where ? is your region.)
    - mc1:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT1.ELF
    If you hold R2 it boots BOOT2.ELF, L1->BOOT3.ELF, L2->BOOT4.ELF

If you have a red screen at boot, this means no boot file found, check that you have a BOOT.ELF file in boot folders.

The Cross-Linking trick has been removed, it will become optional in future release,
but I need to fix some issues before.

    Known Bugs:
    - On some ps2 versions it will fails to correct naming osd file, it will call it osdmain.elf by default, all you have to do is name it correctly.
    - The formatter will not work properly if the memory card have bad blocks.
    - The installer uses XSIO2MAN and other extended modules, so PS2 without these modules will fail to run installer.

    1.4
    - Updated DVDELF Inject to 1.3R1 by Neme
    - Custom elf file inject has been disabled (but now you can use the 75kb DVDELF)
    - Added light loader to support 75kb dvdelf.
    - Boot elfs can be differents if you press a button.

Want to see some Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword media. We've got some for you. Oh, only four gameplay videos, 10 screenshots and a bunch of art. So, not much then.

It's looking bloody good though, considering it seems to have much if the fighting mechanics of the console games - all controlled entirely with the stylus.

It's expected for release at the end of this month, too. So not long to wait either.

Turn-based RPG battles don't have to be slow, dull number games. Just check out these mental screens of Square's Infinite Undiscovery.

Giant tidal waves battering through crumbling buildings, massive explosions wrecking giant snakes, screen-filling flame effects on slashing swords, dragons raining down fireballs of death - it's all kicking off.

Developer Tri-Ace looks to be doing a bloody good job, and is due to have the game on shelves September 5 over here, too. FFXIII may be PS3-exclusive, but Xbox fans won't care if this is as actually as good as it looks.

These shots surfaced on a nice new official Japanese site well worth seeing. After this lot, you should check the game out in motion as well. ...

Atlus is working on a DS game that sounds an awful lot like PC classic Dungeon Keeper.

It's called Master of the Monster Lair, and the idea is to build your dungeon to attract monsters. However, your end goal is to trap and hunt them, rather than feed them up and amass an army.

You fill the boots of a young man living in a kingdom rife with fear, as monsters rampage around the land at will and probably eat people. Your heroic path is laid before you after a chance encounter with one of those talking shovels. Plus you have spiky hair.

This is all wrapped up in an isometric view, wherein you predictably mine earth and rocks, and replace them with a variety of rooms to lure in your prey. You can have chapels and cellars and stables and trash dumps and plenty more.

When the monsters do decide to show up with all their sparkly treasure, you can hot-foot it over and battle them in a turn-based mode.

Atlus is also making it possible to hop online using Wi-Fi and share your dungeons with your friends.

Master of the Monster Lair is due out in the US on 2nd December. There's no word on a European launch, but you can always import if it takes your fancy.

The bad news: there are no new Virtual Console titles out this week. The good news: there are two new WiiWare games to be getting on with.

First up is Block Breaker Deluxe, priced at 800 points (GBP 6 / EUR 8). "Block Breaker is basically Breakout - FOR A NEW GENERATION," explains Dan Whitehead, Eurogamer's official Professor of WiiWare.

"You do all the usual Breakouty block smashy stuff, picking up power-ups with the remote, but the twist is that you're taking part in a bright neon pink-and-blue undercover Block Breaker underground, like a weird fusion of Miami Vice and Stu-stu-studioline Hair Gel telly adverts and must impress people by winning presents for them.

"Think Breakout plus Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball all done in the style of the cover art of a "Best of Clubland 1994" CD compilation. It seems quite good actually."

The other title on offer is Cocoto Fishing Master, yours for 700 points (GBP 5.50 / EUR 7). As the prof puts it, "Cocoto Fishing Master is a cel-shaded fishing RPG in which you catch fish.". ...
