News from Kojote

As I am at work right now and can't modify the Giana's Return pages, I am posting a few "work in progress" news here.


The project is still NOT dead
The project has a new coder who will stay unmentioned for now. He is currently in the task of recoding the WHOLE game. As he is busy with regular paid work, this task might take a bit long.
The project has a new gfx artist who will also stay unmentioned for now. He is currently retouching all the graphics of Giana and will be done with most of the retouching by this weekend.
The GP32 version is probably dropped forever, but this is NOT sure yet.
There might be versions for Linux, BeOS, MacOS, PSP, Dreamcast, Saturn and other computers/handhelds/consoles. I (Kojote) currently try to contact Armin Gessert again, who is the copyright holder of "The Great Giana Sisters" and who also kindly allowed us to use his trademark, if he wishes to not create the one or other port due to legality issues. We don't want to harm him and respect him much. Unfortunatly he has not responded to one of my two mails yet.
Due to security reasons, the webboard had to be completly deleted. It is too much work to take care of two boards, so a probably new "Giana's Return" discussion board will be merged with the boards at PD Roms.

Not a new dolphin release, but a new Input Plugin for Dolphin!
The plugin uses SDL so you will need to download SDL and put it in the root folder of Dolphin.

Currently only controller one is supported, others are internally disabled by Dolphin so I decided not to enable them in nJoy either.
This plugin supports joypads/joysticks only. If you prefer the keyboard, just use the default plugins instead... Images for this plugin were provided by CoDeX (About) and vEX (Config). More information can be found in the readme.txt which is included in the zip file.

Check out the readme.txt in the archive for how to set things up. Note that you need the .NET framework 1.1 installed to run the rom builder.
Keys for the menu system:
Up/Down - move the current selection. The name on the top is the SPC that will be played.
A - start the current selection playing
B - stop the SPC and go back to the menu system

Thanks to Chishm, we now have source available for accessing the Compact Flash on the GBA Movie Player in DS Mode!

Below is a link to the current .zip file containing the .c, .h, and .txt needed to use the GBA MP for homebrew! Good job Chishm.

European trade and media will get a chance to try out the Xbox 360 console ahead of its launch here this holiday season, with Microsoft today confirming that it is planning to showcase the next-generation system at an X05 event in October.

X05 - the fourth event in the series which started with X01 in Cannes but skipped 2004 - will take place at an undisclosed location in Europe on October 4th and 5th, and the company is promising to reveal detailed plans for the Xbox 360 launch at the event.

News that Microsoft was planning on running another such event this year first emerged at E3, when Xbox VP Peter Moore told GamesIndustry.biz that a European showcase was on the cards for autumn.

"We have a lot to say and even more to show people," according to European Xbox vice president Chris Lewis. "Believe me, after X05 there will be no question that Xbox 360 is the next generation."

Microsoft has traditionally used the X events as a platform not only for revealing new games, but also for making key announcements related to the Xbox - such as the pricing details for Xbox in 2001 and the acquisition of Rare in 2002.

It seems unlikely, however, that Microsoft would make European retailers - and indeed consumers - wait for October before revealing more solid information about pricing and release date in this territory.

It's widely expected that the company will give an indication of its global launch plans before the end of the summer - perhaps even at the Xbox event planned in Japan later this month, on the 26th. ...

I bought a QD because the screen is so much better, but it's too small for me and I want to go back to the original N-Gage.
