Sony will launch a head-mounted 3D viewing display in Japan on November 11.
The HMZ-T1 allows the user to view both 2D and 3D content in high-definition, providing an experience similar to watching a 750-inch screen from a distance of 20 metres.
The "Head Mounted Display" contains one 0.7-inch OLED panel for each eye - both with a resolution of 1280x720 - and integrated 5.1 surround sound headphones. The headset must be tethered to a separate processing unit to function, which will feature a second HDMI port for a second headset or an external display.
Sony remains committed to pushing 3D as a home entertainment experience, despite growing doubtswithin the industry and the vocal opposition of senior figures like EA's John Riccitiello.
The HMZ-T1 is expected to be priced at ¥60,000 ($783 / £482). Sony hasn't announced plans to release the device outside of Japan.

Mobile game publisher Gameloft has announced a new subscription model for Android phones.
Gameloft Club will charge £0.99 per week in return for one game from Gameloft's back catalogue - a saving of 66 per cent on the publisher's normal prices.
The service is being tested in the UK, and is currently limited to Android HD+ devices. Gameloft is offering early subscribers one free game as an incentive.
In the past, Gameloft has been vocal about the difficulty of making money with Android, predicting in November 2009 that publishers would begin to cut investment in the platform.
However, Android has grown rapidly since then, with a recent NPD Group report suggesting that it now represents 52 per cent of the US mobile market.

    News via http://www.aep-emu.de/

Doom64 EX is a clone of the Nintendo64 game Doom64 for Windows. Thanks to Emu-France for the news.

    Quote:
Doom64 EX 2.0 is finally released, head over the downloads page to get it. For those who have already grabbed it, you may want to redownload it again due to a minor update involving some fixes to the console and game menu.

There’s too many updates, changes and improvements to list here since version 1.4 though some of the biggest changes were the complete overhaul of the audio system, console, and interface. Many things were also tweaked and changed to match the exact behavior of the original game such as player movement, some enemy behavior tweaks, etc.

Needless to say I am quite happy with the way this project has headed and I hope to keep it alive with new features for modding in the near future. While mod support isn’t fully user-friendly yet, it is possible to begin creating custom content. A customized Doom Builder is currently being worked on to allow development of custom maps and there will be tutorials posted here soon.

A technical doc is also released for those who are interested in learning about all the technicalities that makes up Doom64. That and the game binaries can be found at the downloads page. ...

    4DO 1.0.5.1 Alpha Released!
Posted on August 29, 2011 by Johnny
    Key Features:

    Multiple player support
I certainly didn’t think I’d be able to get this feature up and running as quickly as I did! I left the interface a tad lacking, but oh well. Let me know if you experience issues with this. I tested it out as best as my brain could handle flubbing around with several controllers at once.

By the way, the controllers are set to be always active, meaning the 3DO system will think they’re always plugged in. I think this is a safe assumption, but let me know if any games complain or fail as a result.

Also, 4DO currently supports only 6 players; I tested these using Fifa soccer. I’m pretty sure there’s at least one game with support for 8 players, but I’m considering that a pretty low priority (and I’m not sure how the game managed to fit those last two controllers into the number of bytes I believe are available). Besides, I doubt that there are 8 rabid 3DO fans living in close proximity just waiting to test it out. Obviously, 6 people is downright feasible.

You can download 4DO 1.0.5.1 alpha here:
