    Google's mobile advertising boss says Apple's latest Developer Program Licence Agreement gives Google and AdMob the green light to continue serving ads into iOS apps.
    A change to the terms earlier this year had seemed to lock AdMob out, due to being owned by a rival smartphone platform owner - Google.
    Now everything's tickety-boo, according to Google's VP of product management Omar Hamoui.
    "Unlike the previous version, these new terms ensure that Apple’s developers have the choice of a variety of advertising solutions (including Google’s and AdMob’s) to earn money and fund their apps," he blogs.
    "This is great news for everyone in the mobile community, as we believe that a competitive environment is the best way to drive innovation and growth in mobile advertising."

    Apple has extended an olive branch to its army of app developers by relaxing restrictions on how games are made.
    The mobile devices giant says it is “relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps” – on the proviso that the resulting apps do not download any additional code.
    “This should give developers the flexibility they want,” Apple said, “while preserving the security we need.”
    Apple said it came to the decision to relax development restraints after “taking much feedback to heart”.
    Specifics on the matter are for now unclear, though a brief statement from Apple implied that developers can build games with any tool they want – of which Flash and Android tools are suddenly possible, though surely unlikely, candidates.

    Apple went one further in its developer serenade, promising to release a long-awaited App Store Review Guideline “to help developers understand how we review submitted apps”.
    Said Apple: “We hope it will make us more transparent and help our developers create even more successful apps for the App Store.
    “The App Store is perhaps the most important milestone in the history of mobile software. Working together with our developers, we will continue to surprise and delight our users with innovative mobile apps.”
    Apple said it will specifically make changes to its Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9.

    The flood of FIFA games released this year means FIFA 11 could attract the largest audience in the series’ history.
    In addition to strong sales of FIFA 10, the brand has benefited from the release of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, Facebook game FIFA Superstars and the PC-only FIFA Online.
    EA claims this has extended the franchise’s reach even further than in previous years.
    “It has enabled us to take FIFA to more consumers ,” EA senior product manager Luke Cousens told MCV.
    “We’ve made changes to FIFA to help bring in new players, particularly those who thought they’d struggle to get to grips with the controls.”


    Cousens also believes FIFA 11 is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the public’s passion for football as the Premier League heats up.
    “As football fans, we were all disappointed with England at the World Cup, but that’s all forgotten now as we return to club football,” he said.
    “There is always a lot of excitement and passion around the start of the season and FIFA’s release is the signal that the season is in full flow.
    “We are truly excited about the launch of FIFA 11 and we’re confident we’ll have a very successful year.”
    FIFA 11 will be released on October 1st.

    Well, although that was pretty much expected, we’re happy to celebrate the 100th revision of HBL with a major breakthrough, the possibility to play homebrews for owners of OFW 6.30 and 6.31.

    Less than 2 months after Firmware 6.31 was released by Sony, J416 released a port of our beloved HBL to a new game exploit in the Japanese game “Minna no Golf Portable”. Today, less than two weeks after this release, we are releasing HBL for all known versions of the game (EU, US, JP), with also the hope that porting HBL to new game exploits will now be even easier.



    Now, as I said yesterday, there are still a few bumps on the road for people who plan to enjoy homebrews on OFW 6.30 and 6.31. Although HBL has made incredible progress in the past months, adapting it to new exploits and new firmwares still requires lots of testing. People who try HBL on the golf exploits will see that it is not as stable as on the patapon exploit. You might need to give it several tries before the menu accepts to show up, some emulators will not run at full speed, etc… but as I alreay said, compare this to the first HBL release for the patapon2 exploit, and be happy that you can run much more than simple text based homebrews

    There are a few other things with this release: it is not humanly possible for me to test all versions of HBL, first because I don’t have all the games, second because I don’t have all the firmwares (feel free to donate a psp on OFW 6.31, by the way). If I wanted to test only 5 homebrews for 5 minutes each on the 4 game exploits, on the 4 psp models and the 10 firmwares compatible with HBL, it would take roughly 80 hours!

    I tested HBL R100 on a PSP Go 6.20 for the patapon2 exploit, on a PSP Go 6.20 for the Hot shots golf exploit, and on a psp Phat 5.50 for the everybody’s golf exploit. This is much less testing than I would usually expect. In particular, notice that I haven’t tested this on a 6.30/6.31 PSP, and that I haven’t tested the Japanese version at all. So keep this in mind when you run HBL on your PSP, and don’t hesitate to submit bug reports here or on the advancedpsp forums.

    Oh, also, this might be worth mentioning, this revision brings nothing new for the patapon exploit, so people who are on 6.20 or below don’t really need to download it, except for the test of helping us to catch bugs that might have been introduced.

    Update: It seems that for the EU version, some people are having troubles with HBL constantly returning to the XMB. A possible solution is to do the following:

    1) rename the folder hbl/libs_6xx to hbl/libs
    AND
    2) rename the file hbl/config/imports.config_6xx into hbl/config/imports.config
    AND
    3) try again ...

    qwikrazor87 The developer has released a new update for PSP Adhoc IM homebrew LUA developed that allows us to chattaree with another nearby PSP AdHoc mode using the console Sony. Today's release fixes a bug related to CPU frequency and introduces some new features.

    It updates the 1759 revision Jpcsp , the well known PSP emulator for PC developed in Java programming language . This new build fixes some graphical errors Direct Rendering mode . I remember that for proper implementation of the program, you need to install Java on your PC.

    Since PS3News released their PS3 FTP application I did some research on the PS3's registry.

    The registry and it's backup are stored on dev_flash2 as xRegistry.sys.

    The header

    The entries

    Every entry has a fronttag which is 5 bytes long. I'll describe:

    Behind the value theres a 1 byte close mark:

    The 5 bytes

    The first 4 bytes are a unique but random number. Every value has it to be identified and found by the system as there is no special pattern. An sprx(?) finds every value by this 4 bytes.

    The 5th byte can be 00, 01 or 02. 00 tagged values are actually activated/used by the VSH, 01 ones not. The 02 seems to mean "DO NEVER UNLOCK". For example the QA Mode is tagged with 02.

    00 == unlocked/used/activated
    01 == locked/unused/inactive
    02 == never ment to be unlocked


    Stop footer

    The registry has a

    after the last value. Here the system stops to search for values.

    Single values without tag

    Some values are behind the stop tag spreaded randomly in the file it seems. I have no clue how the system finds those yet but here are some I found:

    - your local username
    - your language (f.e. eng for english)
    - your PS3 system name
    - URL to the information board online stored files
    - HDD serial
    - Board name
    - your PSN username + password
    - your WIFI network key
    - your local IP
    - your PSID
    - path to local user pic

    You can modify all those values as long as you don't change its size or adress. For example the local user pic is loaded from:

    /dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/user/000.png


    But you can redirect it to load from USB for example:

    /dev_usb/vsh/resource/explore/user/12345.png


    The Cool Stuff

    The retail PS3's registry contains all values to unlock the settings which are possible on a test/debug PS3 and even more like QA mode. We can enable those via the registry, but we won't see any effect in the XMB.

    That is because we just UNLOCKED it, but different files on dev_flash handle what we can actually SEE in the XMB. So we need to modify them also to fully use debug options on a retail and more.

    This can be done by mounting the dev_flash from USB. We need to do this as we can not write to the original dev_flash. So once we can load our customized dev_flash from USB and have modiified our registry, we have a nice way to load a our custom firmwares.

    The Crash Report

    The registry can contain an crash report which is seperatly splitted with another registry header as explained above. It contains system error messages, for example if you **** up your registry ;-)

    While the Jailbreak just changes mountpoints it should be possible to do the same for other places than the BDD, aswell.

    For the JB, the drive is remounted @ HDD. So why not mount the dev_flash from USB?

    Surely this is possible and I hope to see some action here soon!

    So we would have a good solution to test and run custom firmwares as the brick risc is equal zero, because we can just unplug the USB device and the dev_flash is mounted as common - unchanged. ...

    Occasionally Nintendo will release updates to the existing Nintendo DSi Menu, or enhancements to other system features.
