It was hinted at for months, in rumor reports and in appearances on retailer websites. But now, it's official and final: for the release of the Wii remake of GoldenEye 007, Activision will release a limited edition hardware bundle that includes the game and a special edition gold-colored Classic Controller Pro.

The GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition will run you $69.99 to get the game and the Golden Gun-inspired Classic Controller Pro. The game, by itself, is currently listed on retailer sites at $49.99. Both game and bundle will be available November.

Of course, Classic Controller support is merely an option: the final game will have all sorts of different control options, including Wii Zapper support and standard Wii Remote/Nunchuk.

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia ruled in favor of firm clients SplitFish AG, SplitFish Gameware, Inc., and Nabon Corp., granting a preliminary injunction against Bannco Corp. that prohibits Bannco from selling video game controllers that incorporate or use software code copied from SplitFish’s “FragFX” video game controllers. Judge T.S. Ellis ruled that Nabon Corp. was the original owner of the software code at issue and that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits of their copyright infringement claim. Judge Ellis further ruled that Plaintiffs had made a sufficient showing that failure to enjoin Bannco’s conduct would result in irreparable harm to the Plaintiffs, that the balance of equities favored Plaintiffs and that an injunction would be in the public interest. The case is unusual in that the software in question was developed in China and Judge Ellis applied Chinese law in order to establish that Nabon was the copyright owner. The case also represents one of the first instances where a court in the Eastern District of Virginia has applied the more rigorous standard requiring plaintiffs seeking injunctive relief in copyright infringement actions to make a clear showing of irreparable harm. Under prior law, irreparable harm was presumed upon the plaintiff’s showing that it was reasonably likely to succeed on the merits of its case.

If you go to Bannco's website, all hardware related products and software has been removed from the site. The only thing left is search feature and the forum. However, inside the forum, it directs you to a french website to download software files for FRAGnStein and Scorch 360.

You can read our review on Bannco's Scorch for Xbox 360 here.

I think folks will like this update - featured changes include auto load/save for all save ram types, with both flash and SD games saving to the SD card, if present. If you don't have an SD card, or are using a flash-only cart, the saves go to the GBA cart SRAM. Please read the readme for details. For the most part, it's totally automatic, or very simple to deal with. The other obvious change is the addition of a splash screen, and backdrops for the browser and loader. Many thanks to sanni for his help with the images.

A minor change compared to previous versions - if a rom isn't recognized, the save type now defaults to external cart. This was done to keep games that don't use save ram from using space in the GBA cart SRAM on flash-only carts.

Neo Myth Menu Google code page
    NeoFlash forum thread

EDIT: Made a quick update to v1.6.

Fixed a quirk with the game flash menu interpretation so that "odd" banks are dealt with properly. This should take care of those roms that seem to not run from the cart. You could recognize them by the bank number - if you're looking at the bank number and see them go like bank 0, bank 1, bank 2, bank 192, that oddball 192 is not really a bank number, it's the Mbit offset to the rom. There was a similar issue with the rom size that I took care of quite a while back.

You can now also provide your own backdrop images for the splash, browser, and loader (any or all). Just make a "/.menu/n64/images/ directory and put the custom images there. They should be non-progressive jpeg images of 320 pixels wide by 240 lines tall named as follows: "splash.jpg", "browser.jpg", and "loading.jpg". If the files exist on the SD card, the menu will use them in place of the ones in the menu resources.

You can also now delete slots in the slot selector (when running a game with save ram from a flash-only cart). Just press Z to delete the currently high-lighted slot. ...

It was reported earlier this week that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 motion camera Kinect will be able to recognise sign language – it seems, though, that the version making it to retail cannot.

In a statement released to Kotaku a Microsoft rep claims:

“We are excited about the potential of Kinect and its potential to impact gaming and entertainment. Microsoft files lots of patent applications to protect our intellectual property, not all of which are brought to market right away. Kinect that is shipping this holiday will not support sign language.”
The site goes on to quote “sources close to the evolution of Kinect's development” as saying that early versions of the Kinect hardware included a higher-res camera (over twice the resolution) than the 320x240 version found in the retail iteration of the device.

This enabled them to recognise individual fingers. However, the downscale in camera – which Kotaku claims was a cost-cutting measure – means that finger recognition is no longer possible.

MCV has contacted Microsoft about the accuracy of Kotaku’s claims. ...

Activision's partnered with Nintendo for a Limited Edition Controller Bundle for GoldenEye on Wii.

The bundle will include an exclusive gold Classic Controller Pro, apparently inspired by Francisco Scaramanga's infamous golden gun.

The controller does have a more practical application too (apart from looking glamorous) as it allows players to use a more traditional control scheme as opposed to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk control scheme.

GoldenEye 007 executive producer Julian Widdows recently said his team has something to prove with the remake and is pushing the Wii "incredibly hard".

GoldenEye 007 is one of two upcoming Bond games, the game is going head to head with the Bizzare Creations title, James Bond: Blood Stone. ...

Despite being manufactured in China, the current generation of home consoles are illegal in the giant country - and have been since 2000. However, Microsoft is currently lobbying to sell the 360 in China.

Microsoft China exec, Zhang Yaqin, told Shanghai Daily that the company is continuing efforts to acquire approval but ultimately "it all depends on the government".

The decision to allow the legal sale of Microsoft's games console will involve acquiring approval from "several government bureaus".

Although it is still unclear why consoles are banned, a Niko Partners researcher recently said that the government felt that this action would prevent the youth from wasting their mind.

"The government thought that was the best way to protect Chinese youth from wasting their minds on video games, after a parental outcry".

Not only is the Xbox 360 banned in China, but Chinese law has also blocked the sale of Microsoft's Kinect. ...

The Ace Combat series will be ‘reborn’ on Xbox 360 and PS3 next year, Namco Bandai has told MCV.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon marks the first time the franchise has appeared on PlayStation 3.

Developed once again by Project Aces, the team has set about creating a more destructive air combat game – which the studio says is not a sequel to 2007’s Ace Combat 6, but an entirely new chapter for the franchise.

“For us, this is a rebirth of the Ace Combat series, and a chance for us to take the series in a completely new direction,” said Project Aces producer Kazutoki Kono.

“We’re confident that we’re going to create a new kind of action shooting experience with Ace Combat Assault Horizon, and we’re pouring passion, vision and skill into making a game like no other. We want to bring players closer than ever to the action so they feel the energy surge through them with every shot fired.”
