pipagerardo has just released a new version for his GREAT Homebrew game for our loved PSP. If you like action and tanks, this will your favourite Homebrew game. This is the first Homebrew that takes part in the Scenery Beta 2008.

What about if I tell you that you will be able to play with a friend using PSP AdHoc connection? If you prefer to play alone, you will have to defeat tanks. At first, you only have one opponent, but if you continue playing...you will have to defeat 5 tanks on the field at the same time!!!

Enjoy this marvelous game, PSP Slim compatible and translated into English.

One of the best games that have ever been coded in LUA.

    New in version 2.0
    • Pause.
    • Graphics improvements.
    • 3D terrains (if your tank is at the top of a mountain, it will fire very far from your position!).
    • The game uses less PSP memory (so its more stable).
    • Added credits.
Note: The game is not compatible with previous versions of Cannons and Shields, so if you want to play versus another friend, please, use this v2.0 in both PSPs.

If have tried to attach it into Dcemu forum, but I receive a PHP error :-(.

    Enjoy.

New version of the Commodore 64 emulator for J2ME (MIDP 2.0) mobile phones.

    Changelog:

The jar archive contains the compiled code of the JME C64 project. The jad file contains a decription of the contents of the jar file and is needed on some devices.

This release is only for usage on mobile devices supporting J2ME with MIDP 2.0. Use the latest JSwingC64 release for a version that can be used on a PC.

After uploading the jar file to your mobile device, you should be able to run the emulator. On some devices the jad file is also required to be transferrred to the mobile device.

You may optionally execute the following steps to include C64 programs into the archive, prior to transferring it to the mobile device:
    - Rename the .jar file replacing the .jar by a .zip
    - Add the C64 programs (.t64,.c64,.prg,p00) you want to be able to run to the programs folder and add these programs to the programs.txt file.
    - Rename the archive replacing the .zip by a .jar
If your device supports the FileConnection API, then you may omit this step and instead transfer the programs to the file system of your mobile device and use the "Search Programs" menu entry to make these programs available to the emulator.
In case that you modify the jar archive as described above, you may not use the downloaded jad file as the file size information it contains is then incorrect!

The javadoc zip file is meant for those who are interested in the class structure of the application, i.e. rather developers than end users.

    Changes:
    1.8 (based on rev. 631)
    - enable suspend and resume for the emulator (feature request ID 1665194)
    - fixed the problem that the screen size might be calculated incorrectly (bug ID 1986383)

Finally, one of the ideas that has been buzzing for longer down the ears of the Group SceneBeta.com admins, has got to see the light: "kinda contest" of Homebrew. And it's a "kinda contest", like that, because we haven't planned quite a contest, but something truly akin to the film festivals, someplace to bring a little homage to those coders who make the Scene grow. The most outstanding works will, also, have a cash prize; we'll give away more than €2000 (more than three grand$)! And well, those of us unable to code, will be delighted by brand new releases whatever it's our favorite platform, either PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii or PC. Be welcome to Scenery Beta 2008, our own and only homebrew festival, scenery and fiesta!

    What is Scenery Beta 2008?

It's a Homebrew Festival, an "exhibition" or "fair" where we'll make know the works of coders from all around the world, and some of them as world novelty (hey, but always at coder's choice, that's absolutely only if you want!).

They may get to win cash prizes, which will be awarded by the score given by their fellow coders, and the related SceneBeta.com community and its users. You've got the details in the Scenery Beta Rules (link at the bottom of this new).

We want to warmly thank to all our sponsors their support and trust which has made this showdown possible.

    Where'd you get that idea?

It's been some months now since the community Admins were toying with the idea of making some coding contest. It'd be the first time that a Spanish-speaking web did something like that. And finally, our nice little dream has come true!

I'm a coder, can I enter the showdown?

Any coder can enter the showdown, of whatever country, as long as is willing to show his/her work. The only requisite is that the Homebrew has been under development during last year (or, of course, has been created purposely for this event!), and is available to some of the 4 platforms on which we have an active community at this moment: PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii or PC. You can see the submit periods and schedules at the end of this new (Scenery Beta 2008 rules). There are 2 sections for each platform, Games and Applications (emulators will be classified as Apps).

Even more, we've open an "off-contest section", let's think of some SceneryAlpha, where to show those works which are proofs of concept, purely experimental, still unfinished or whatever, so you can get a broader audience and impact in the international Scene. We think that there is a huge load of really great ideas that get lost due to lack of, put simply, someone seeing them. And, yes, we think about giving some kind of award for great "off-contest" ideas.

Inscription period: From the moment these rules are published until Sep, 1, 2008 at 24:00 hrs (UTC+2 timezone). Just send your works to [email protected] (check the rules, at the bottom of this thread, for more info).

All homebrews must include the Showcase starting/splah screen for its platform. (This is mandatory):

    Official Splash Screens
    • For NDS:

    • For PC:

    • For PSP:

    • For Wii:

    Scoring system

    • Contestant (coders/teams) votes: 50% of final score.
    • User votes: 25% of final score.
    • Organization's rating: 25% of final score.
More details in the rules (link below this thread).

What are you looking for with Scenery Beta?

First and foremost, to pay homage and respect to the scores of anonymous or little-known coders who daily struggle to make our machines more and more useful. Also, we hope that the thousands of users who visit us every day have lots of fun checking and playing with the works, comfortably sitting at home.

In a nutshell, Scenery Beta is a great homebrew fair, with cash prizes for those people who give us something to talk about in these pages.

    ¡Cheers to the Scene!

I dont want to bore you, so I leave here the link to know all the rules, and check the Awards for each platform.

Sony has announced PlayStation-edu, a new initiative that will sell PS2 and PSP development kits to universities for students to learn engineering and programming skills on real-world console and handheld hardware.

The announcement came via Sony's official PlayStation.Blog, where senior developer support manager Mark Danks said the company wanted to ensure "students who are graduating from college are ready to program on PlayStation hardware."

Danks clarified the program was meant for "computer science and engineering students who want to understand how the hardware works in the PlayStation consoles," and not more general game design or art programs.

Paying university partners can get access to both PS2 and PSP development kits, as well as "development software... and the SDK to learn and experiment with."

"Participants will get demo code and samples, as well as documentation about how things work," Danks added, and noted that "students in PlayStation-edu will have access to our support web site where they can talk with other students in the program on our forums."

New version of the plugin for PCSX2 (a PlayStation 2 emulator for PC).

    Info:

It hasn't even been 2 weeks yet, and I have managed to get some new stuff together for a new spu2ghz release!

This time the most notable changes are the addition of timestretching and support for winamp DSP plugins.

As a bonus, there's also an option to toggle the speed limiter using the [Numpad -] key (can be changed in the .ini file).

You can download it here. [below]

To use winamp DSP pugins I recommend getting Multiple-DSP Stacker, which will allow you to easily change DSP plugins and configure them. To enable it you will have to edit the .ini file and manually point it to the path of the DSP dll and the module number (normally it's 0, unless it has many choices in a single dll).

    Hope you all like it!
