A new contestant has stepped foot in the Homebrew Idol arena, welcome Sangheili. Sangheili has come up with something you may already recognize in arcade form –

Yup, that’s Stacker all right — the game you’ve likely spent many pissed off hours in front of down at Philthy McNasty’s on King and John. Sadly, that machine isn’t there anymore. But that’s neither here nor there… This is Sangheili’s PSP Pileup — stack ‘em bricks to the top while maintaining your cool and quick reaction time.

The game is played with your PSP standing vertical; power switch towards you. Levels get increasingly faster as you go on; you’re also given the option to specify difficulty — easy, medium, or hard. Press X to lay the brick and continue piling them, one on top of the other.

Who doesnt love toys and tonight a new one to try in the name of Valhalla Knights 2 in a demo form.

Description from the first game in series

A place that was forgotten from history, where humans, elves, dwarfs, halflings and other various races lived together in harmony... it was a paradise, surrounded by deep green forests and crystal clear streams. However, the roar of the demons tore apart their peaceful lives. It was the return of the Dark Lord, the previous ruler of the land, which sparked a new round of battles which would eventually encompass all the races. After years of fierce fighting, the Dark Lord was sealed away by the hands of the hero, Rastul. But from the blood of the demons, the land had been cursed and the sky lost its light. The cursed land entrapped the people, making every waking moment feel like an eternity. Eventually the land once known as a paradise came to be known as "The Cursed Land." One day, a youth wakes up in this land. In this land full of despair, the youth searches for his/her lost memory. What lies ahead are the discovery of his/her memories and the future of this forsaken land.

PS3hax.net posted this on their site:

After a long time it finally seems that there might be a break through for the PS3 hacking scene. XVISTAMAN2005, has found a way to partially install a debug PS3 firmware on a retail PS3. Partially meaning that he has found a way to get a retail PS3 into debug mode, but currently the options are non functional.

So what is amazing about this? This gives PS3 hackers a huge new area to work with that was not previously available before, plus not to mention that devs already had a working ISO loader running on a full debug console (this method currently gives us a partial-debug console).

Whilst we are not at all interested in piracy/iso loaders the implications for PS3 Homebrew seem interesting but remember that a lot of sites claim to have exploits etc and even we have been duped so for now take any and all "exploits/breakthroughs" with a pinch of salt. Usually exploits will come from a known console hacker which has been the case down the years. ...

A major step for the PS2 Homebrew Scene is this release of Freevast which allows you to run Homebrew on an unmodified PS2. heres the details:

Most of you who've been following the project already know this, but it's time to post this to the front page.

jimmikaelkael has made it a bit easier to get homebrew loaded on your ps2's with dead lasers or slims without the constant need for a mod chip or swapmagic.

The project is currently released as a beta, so there are bugs in it, (mainly that it locks out the use of the C/DVD drive and some freezing.) But it currently has no issues with HDL. So please be patient while the bugs are being worked out.

I'll do a write up on a tutorial within the next couple days on a detailed install of the hack. (please don't bomb me or jimmikaelkael with PMs on this)

Many thanks goes to jimmikaelkael, yoshi314, stayhye, PALGamer, and everyone who contributed to this project!

Ripping people's hearts out, cutting blokes in half with a chainsaw - that's what's going down in these gory new MadWorld screens, and we like it (sadistic, maybe?).

That pretty much sets the tone for the game, it seems. You play as Jack, the man with the chainsaw arm, and you brutalise people in the most horrific ways. Sega called it "comical violence" in its presentation, so that makes it okay.

The black and white graphical style looks brilliant in motion, and with blood being the only thing on screen with colour, it makes the gore even more prominent.

MadWorld was one of three games from developer Platinum Games that Sega showed off at a presentation last week and you can read more about that here.

Nintendo's new Wii Fit, launching today, combines fun and fitness in ways that will have people getting up off their couches, moving around, having fun and maybe even breaking a sweat. Wii Fit gets everyone pumped up about making enjoyable physical activities a part of their daily routines. Wii Fit even tracks users' progress, which lets people see how they have improved while challenging them to better their scores and stay motivated to keep going.

At an MSRP of $89.99, Wii Fit comes packaged with the Wii Balance Board™ accessory, a precisely engineered platform that senses both weight and shifts in movement and balance. The Wii Balance Board connects wirelessly to the Wii console and serves as the centerpiece for more than 40 fun activities that challenge users in areas like yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance. Helpful virtual trainers in the game talk users through the different activities and make suggestions for improvement.

"Wii Fit will get you moving whether you've been playing video games for years or this is your first time," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Wii Fit is easy for anyone to try and is yet another example of how Nintendo continues to expand the world of video games to new audiences."

To celebrate the launch of Wii Fit, Nintendo is holding an interactive release party today for the public in the southwest corner of New York's Central Park, near the Merchants' Gate. "We're looking for everyone to 'get on board' and get excited about their fitness," said celebrity trainer Ashley Borden, who will be on hand to do personal Wii Fit demos and training.

Wii Fit, which has sold more than two million copies in Japan, starts with a simple measurement that calculates an adult user's Body Mass Index, or BMI. From there, the Wii Balance Board accessory can be used as a platform for twirling a virtual Hula Hoop, shredding on a virtual snowboard, performing leg extensions or doing a downward-facing dog yoga pose. Wii Fit contains a wide variety of fun games and physical activities that target the body's core.

Different people in the same household can use Wii Fit and track their progress separately. Users' Mii caricatures even reflect their fitness levels and change as people become more proficient at the activities.

Wii is the first video game system ever included in the President's Challenge, a program of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports that encourages all Americans to make physical activity a part of their daily lives. Wii Fit builds on that honor by encouraging people to keep their bodies moving.

Wii Fit is available today exclusively at the Nintendo World store in New York, and will be at retail stores across the country May 21.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. ...
