    Hi All,

Here is a new version of PSP7800 the Atari 7800 console emulator.

First of all i do apologize for those daily releases, this should be the last one
    (i cross my fingers).

    What's new in version 1.0.3 :

    - Major Bug fix : All roms (such as BallBlazer) that used the Pokey audio chip
made the emulator to crash !
    - New icons from Gelon

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

    Enjoy,

    Zx

Reuters is quoting unnamed "industry sources" in a story about Microsoft's plans to launch the Xbox 360 in China in "the next few months," possibly in time for February's Chinese New Year. According to the report, Microsoft is in talks with Chinese internet providers and government ministries to get the approvals necessary to import and sell the system in the tightly-controlled country.

It's no secret that Microsoft wants to enter the Chinese market -- they publicly stated as much in 2005 and launched the Xbox 360 in semi-autonomous Hong Kong in early 2006. Getting into China would greatly expand the Xbox 360's quickly growing worldwide footprint, which already includes 36 countries, some of which had never seen a console launch before. Launching in China would also mean dealing with the country's rampant software piracy, a problem that has dogged Chinese releases of the PS2 and PSP. Still, a booming market of over 1.3 billion potential customers is too juicy for Microsoft to pass up.

Sony seems to be having a bit of a problem. They have a portable system that is a success, but not by any means their main product. Then they have a new console that desperately needs games any way it can get them. Obviously they need to compete on the high end next gen game front, but they also need to compete against the Virtual Console and Xbox Live Arcade. Without the backlog of games like Nintendo or the head start of Microsoft, they seem to be turning to a questionable source for their downloadable games; the PSP.

The obvious issue with PSP games going to PS3 is that it begins to negate the reasons for a consumer to own both. Sure, right now it's a Gripshift and a Tekken, but what happens if the trend just continues? Sure, this would strengthen the PlayStation Network, but at the cost of PSP exclusives. This is just not acceptable when the PSP still has a long way to go to establish itself.

If Sony does insist on continuing to take games from the PSP library to the PS3, than it needs to change how it does so. Microsoft announced Live Anywhere quite some time ago, but we're still waiting for the day when we can play Xbox Live Arcade games on the go. Part of the reason is that Microsoft doesn't yet have a portable gaming system, but Sony does. Why not have it so if I download Gripshift on the PS3 I can download it to my PSP as well free as charge. For games that require progress, it would be great if I was able to share saves between my PSP and PS3. Maybe this is part of Sony's eventual plans anyway, but until I can buy Tekken on my PSP and continue it on my PS3 or vice-versa, it seems like a missed opportunity.

It could just be that this is a temporary solution and as more developers jump on board the PlayStation Network, Sony will stop relying on PSP games as downloadable content. Even if this is the case though, it still seems like a dangerous road for Sony to travel. It could just be that I'm overreacting though. What do fellow PSP owners think of this development? ...

Seems sales spinning is a global phenomenon. Seems Christmas 2006 in Australia was dominated by Nintendo. At least, that's according to Nintendo Australia:

In the critical December retail period, the Nintendo DS Lite confirmed its #1 position in Australia, trouncing all competitors in both the handheld and home console market. This is a trend that continued throughout the year, making the Nintendo DS the highest selling games console of 2006.*

Once released, Wii officially broke the Australian record for the biggest launch of a video game system in history. In a few short weeks Wii has established itself as the current 'must have' item. Demand quickly outstripped supply and although new stock shipments are constantly arriving, the Wii remains a very 'hot' item with Nintendo managing to sell over 50,000* units in just 3 weeks of December.

Looks good. Oh, except for the two *'s. Which don't come bundled with explanations, or sources. What are they, Nintendo? Guesses? Hopes? Wishes? Or just regular old spin? Whichever one, this sales/shipped figures fib-fest is getting real old, real fast. ...

This weeks Virtual Console games go live at 10 a.m. Mountain on the Wii Shop Channel and include Xevious, R-Type 3 and Moto Roader.

Xevious(TM) (NES(R), 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Players control their Solvalou ship and destroy the XEVIOUS forces. Fire the zapper missiles against air-based enemies and drop the blaster bombs down upon ground-based targets. Destroy Andor Genesis to earn bonus points. Unique enemies, interesting background music, a variety of vertically scrolling background environments and many hidden game play features differentiated Xevious from the other shooting games released at the time. Are you devious enough to beat Xevious?
R-Type III(TM): The Third Lightning (Super NES(R), 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): It was believed on Earth that the deadly BYDO Empire had been destroyed -- but now they've returned, as nasty as ever. Their ships and armies are more powerful than before, and Earth will surely be conquered unless the new R-90 ship can destroy them. Powered with engines that launch it into different dimensions, and armed with the Round, Shadow and Cyclone Forces, the R-90 has what it takes to wipe out the BYDO threat.
The BYDO mother ship must be found and destroyed to entirely erase the species from our galaxy.

Moto Roader(TM) (TurboGrafx16, 1-5 players, 600 Wii Points): Moto Roader is a futuristic racing game that allows up to five players to compete against each other. Players use the cash earned when they win a race to power up their machine. Not only can they change the "TIRE" and "BODY" of their vehicles, but they also can add "SPECIAL" parts. Jump over tall obstacles with a "HOPPER" and blast past rivals at incredible speeds with "NITRO." What multiplayer game would be complete without attack items? Use a forward-launching "GRENADE" or a backward-dropping "BOMBER" to blow up and knock away rivals. Outmaneuver rivals in all eight heats to become the champion. Any combination of Wii Remote(TM) and Nintendo GameCube(TM) controllers can be used in multiplayer games..

I like that there seems to be a theme, maybe they'll keep that up.
