By the end of the month Nintendo will have released WarioWare: Smooth Moves to the masses in America. But the Japanese have already been playing the game for some time. We imported the overseas version and have posted high-resolution 480p / 16:9 videos below. Simply click on the following link:

In addition, we imported the oveseas version of Wii Play, which is like a mini-game version of Wii Sports. But don't take our word for it because we've also posted 480p / 16:9 movies of this one. Click below for the goodness.

Ubisoft's Spanish subsidiary has put out a release that announces, among others, a handful of new Wii projects.

The first is Brothers in Arms: D Day, the most solid confirmation yet that Ubi is readying a version of the hit first-person shooter franchise for Nintendo's new console. Last year, an allegedly leaked document listed Brothers in Arms as a game underway from Wii. Ubisoft denied the document's validity, but every other title featured on the list was eventually announced or released. The game's name suggests that this is might be a Wii version of the recently released PSP series entry, a "Best of BIA" game with new and remixed content from all of Brothers in Arms (assumedly with improved visuals to match the Wii.) In an interview with IGN, the developer of the series, Gearbox Software, also said that it was working on a Wii project. Insiders claim that Gearbox was at one point experimenting with Unreal Engine 3 and attempting to create a dumbed-down version that would run on Wii. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm the accuracy of that rumors.

The second title is called Spelling Spree and, as the name suggests, it is very likely a project focused on spelling and vocabulary challenges. Gamers might be quick to discount such a product, but if Ubisoft can put a Brain Age style spin on the presentation, Spelling Spree could be a surprise hit.

The third game, Cosmic Family, is a port of the PC franchise of the same name. Very little is known about the project, except that it is geared toward younger players. A brief description, courtesy Amazon's UK website: "Meet the Cosmic Family - Mr and Mrs Cosmic, their two small children, big sister, the scatty cat, the playful dog, and monsters of every shape, size and color. Early learning, humor and music for 4-7 year olds and their parents." ...

Ever since Nintendo first showed off footage of its mysterious Wii title Forever Blue, we've all been curious about the title's premise. Early videos showed scuba divers swimming deep underneath the sea and interacting with a variety of fish, some deadlier than others.

Sources tell IGN Wii that the game is being developed out of Japan by Arika. A little research on our part revealed that Arika is no stranger to underwater-based videogames. In fact, the studio released Everblue and Everblue 2 for PlayStation 2 in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Both games look very similar to Forever Blue for Wii. Indeed, we'd be willing to wager that the upcoming Wii title is very likely a direct sequel, if not an enhanced port.

Arika's official website features a brief description of the titles, which can be found right here.

IGN reviewed a copy of Everblue 2 on PS2 three years ago. The title scored a 5.7 and was described as an underwater action game with RPG elements. Apparently the effort presents a realistic and sometimes-beautiful scuba diving experience, but comes up short on story and character progression. Here is a description of the PS2 games from our sister site:

"Explore the Magic of Deep-Sea Diving. Follow heroes Leo and Zucco as they explore the truth behind tales of the Caribbean's Bermuda Triangle and Coral Reef inthis expansive underwater role-playing adventure. Uncover the sea's mysteries, as you freely explore sunken treasure ships, play with dolphins and other underwater sea life, wander the great Coral Sea and avoid shark attacks."

Nintendo has not officially confirmed that Wii's Forever Blue is related, but considering Arika's history, we don't see how it couldn't be.

It's worth noting that Arika has worked on other projects, including everything from Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha for PlayStation to Mega Man Network Transmission for GameCube.

    via Lemproject

I’ve updated the Downloads page with Version 3.1 of the Lemmings DS ROM, Lemmings DS Builder and Custom Level Utility.

This new version turns the music and sound on by default, and ensures that the music playing ingame is random (at last!) and should fix at least some of the bugs that folks have been having with the game crashing while the music has been fading in and out.

It’ll also change the behaviour of the editor slightly: it replaces the meaningless ‘Zero Overwrite’ level texture object option with a ‘Subtractive’ option, which causes the selected piece to ‘punch through’ existing terrain leaving transparency behind. This upgrade is necessary for some upcoming LemProject goodies.

    News from Shash

I've not done much related to DS emulation, besides some profiling and considering where to go from here. I'm really concerned about some tidbits of the current state of DS emulation in desmume. Mainly, I want to do some really hardcore cpu core rewrite to gain some speed, and moving the whole 3D renderer to software, instead of using opengl, as it is used now. I've already written a few software renderers in the past, and I even started one (designed to be used in desmume) about a month ago, but I haven't got the time, neither the motivation needed for such a feat, mot to mention rewriting half of the cpu core for speed: at least, not now :P

Today I just implemented a hacky way to support "flipped repeat textures", which consumes more memory than desired (even if only 1-2mb) and cpu, but works :P It's visible (or not, as now it's rendering as desired) in the sand path in the 3rd shot, which is using it. Most of my time today, was spent testing Mario DS, up to the first stage, but I didn't make any proper shots: it seems pretty stable, even if it could be better. Anyway, some shots:
