    from Nintendo:

Hold the Wii Remote firmly and do not let go. Even while wearing the wrist strap, make sure you don't let go of the Wii Remote during game play and do not use excessive motion. For example, in Wii Sports bowling, the proper way to let go of the ball while bowling is to release the "B" button on the Wii Remote—DO NOT LET GO OF THE Wii REMOTE ITSELF. If you are having so much fun that you start perspiring, take a moment to dry your hands. If you use excessive motion and let go of the Wii Remote, the wrist strap may break and you could lose control of the Wii Remote. This could injure people nearby or cause damage to other objects.

    Good advice ...

Nintendo has made it pretty hard to connect with other Wii owners through the Wii itself, but this hasn't stopped some intrepid web users from creating online trading posts for Wii codes, messages, game saves and Miis.

Here are a few of the better resources out there so far:

MiiPages - A country-by-country list of Wii owners looking for other Wii owners to connect with. Users can search for fellow gamers with similar games and interests and put in a friend request -- your Wii code is hidden until you accept a request. With over 1000 users already, this is shaping up to be a premiere Wii sharing community.
Wii-play - An extremely large Wii forum and chat community that supports easy Wii code sharing and a clever system to redirect private messages to your friends' Wii consoles. The site is a little overwhelming at first and requires a little work to figure out all its features, but its worth it to find fellow Wii owners to connect with.
ConnectMii - Basically just a forum to broadcast your Wii code to hundreds of strangers who have done the same. If you're friend list goals involve quantity and not quality, this is the site for you.
Wii Save - A growing community devoted to sharing Wii save files through SD cards, complete with step-by-step upload and download instructions. The site is mostly Zelda saves for now, but hopefully we'll see a wider range of saves soon.

MiiPlaza - This site doesn't let you exchange Wii codes or data, but does let you share photos of your Mii Channel creations with the world. Kind of small at the moment, but sure to grow as more users try to give their Miis digital immortality. ...

Intimidating Nintendo bossman with a friendly smile, Reggie Fils-Aime, told Reuters today that his company is on track to sell 4 million Wiis worldwide by the end of the year. If reality, that would be like selling almost 20% of the GameCube's 21M install base in just over six weeks (!).

The gaming exec also expects to sell a 'lil something extra on top of the planned 4 million, manufacturing constraints permitting. And I quote: "Exceeding (sales targets) is going to be challenging based on manufacturing capacity. We will sell everything we make so now it's simply a manufacturing thing." ...

Without its line of Game Boy handhelds, Nintendo would likely not be in the position it is today. When the company went head-to-head with Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox with the GameCube, the result was disastrous for the one-time gaming leader.

Thankfully the company had the Game Boy Advance and more recently the Nintendo DS--both of which have helped keep Nintendo's wallet fat. While Nintendo tries to get back into the console race with the Wii, no one can dispute that the company dominates the handheld market.

Though the DS looks to shape the future of Nintendo's handhelds, the company believes its predecessor, though dated, still has some legs to stand on. Speaking at the Reuters Media Summit in New York, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said, "We think that Game Boy Advance certainly has at least one more holiday season left in it."

In fact, Fils-Aime says, the GBA is still essential to Nintendo's plan as a "gateway console."

"For us, it continues to be a great stepping stone for five-, six-, seven-year old consumers to have their first great handheld gaming experience and then transition right into DS," Fils-Aime told Reuters.

According to the executive, sales of both the DS and GBA are expected to meet company expectations this year. ...

As the shortage of PlayStation 3 units continues in the US and Canada sales of PS2 and PlayStation Portable are booming, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America.

In a statement, communications boss David Karraker said the top five retailers in North America were reporting a week-by-week rise in PS2 hardware sales of more than 115 per cent over the Thanksgiving period. Sales of PSP units, meanwhile, were up by 280 per cent.

Sales of first-party software are also up, according to SCEA. PS2 game sales rose by 120.6 per cent, with PSP software sales increasing by almost 168 per cent.

Sony has yet to publish figures for exactly how many PlayStation 3 units have been sold in North America since the console launched there on November 17.

However, Karraker did confirm that all PS3s shipped to the US last week have been sold, adding, "More are already on their way for this week.

"Feedback from our retail partners is that demand is still incredibly high and that PS3s put on store shelves were quickly snapped up by holiday shoppers," he went on.

"We will continue to utilise airfreight delivery for the PlayStation 3 to assure a steady stream of systems for North American consumers through the end of the year."

As previously announced, Sony plans to ship one million PS3 units by the end of the year. ...

Reggie Fils-Aime has said that American gamers can expect Super Mario Galaxy any time between the end of March and next Christmas.

Speaking to MTV News, Fils-Aime said that Metroid Prime: Corruption is going to be next in the batch of big Nintendo releases, following WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Wii Play (both January) and Mario Party 8 (March).

He also offered some idea of what consumers can expect from Virtual Console. "On every Monday, you can expect between one and five titles... essentially on an ongoing basis," he explained.

And they're working on the rights issues that are keeping games like GoldenEye away, too. "Suffice it to say we would love to see it, so we're exploring all the rights issues," the Nintendo of America boss told MTV.

But what of online gaming? "The first online game will be Pokémon Battle Revolution in Japan, so that is certainly a candidate [to be first] in the US." MTV then hints at other titles. "For the consumer who is saying, 'Gosh, when is Nintendo going to get on board with online play?' The answer is very early in 2007," Fils-Aime specified.

But what's this about arrogance, you're wondering. Apparently it's the difference between Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft. "Are we feeling good about our success? Do we think we can have more success in the future? Absolutely," he began.

"I do think that highlights a difference between us and our competitors: We're not arrogant. We don't view success as a right. We feel we need to earn success every day. And we're going to do that by being true to the gamer." Handbags!

As if to prove the point, he noted that he'll be off to Japan, cap in hand, to do some "lobbying" of his bosses in January. We're told to expect a "plethora" of Wii announcements around then.

One thing he won't be bringing back with him though is the DVD-playing Nintendo Wii, which was mooted a while ago. Asked by MTV whether Wii-DVD coming to the US any time soon, he responded simply: "The answer is no." ...
