"NetHack is a roguelike [RPG] computer game originally released in 1987 [...]

The player takes the part of a dungeon-delving hero in search of the Amulet of Yendor. The quest spans more than 50 levels, most of which are randomly created. Each level contains monsters, weaponry, magical items, hidden doors and much more."

As promised, this game is now fully playable on the PSP!

    Fixed since 1.0c :
    • Keyboard interface for text prompts (Wishing, naming items, etc.)
    • Fixed the bug of headers that would interfeer in the item selection dialog
    • Added a way to go back up a menu when you've highlighted the last item (and vice versa)
    • Correctly fixed to always select first item in a menu if no default is found (was buggy in some cases)
    • Splitted the context menu in two columns and added many more commands
    • Enabled #enhancing your skills
    • Fixed Diagonal movements, added some buttons to facilitate things.
    • You can now apply something to yourself or in any direction you might want to.
    • You can now apply an Orb (crystal ball), it will now bring out the soft-keyboard to select a single character.
    • Enabled engraving with your fingers
    • Enabled analog stick for scrolling pop-ups that are too big for display

    More to come :
    • Help menu item selection -> Add a "Select all" / "Unselect All" / "Invert Selection" keys
    • Remove the perm_lock feature, as it can cause problems on the PSP when crashing
    • A contextual menu for the 'Inventory' screen
    • Disable calling the context menu more than once.
    • Reenable the top-ten listing when dying or quitting
    • Enable Nethack Sounds.
    • A PSP Specific menu, to get the time, battery charge, etc.
    • Enable custom key mapping (thanks Glynnder and Genki)
    • Display the damage made by the player (default to off, thanks Genki)
    • Internet high score server and bones servers - Maybe (thanks Genki)
    • Mp3 player built in. It gets pretty quiet when playing nethack for hours on end. (thanks Genki and many others)
    • Enable PSP help (thanks Megalodon)
    • Any other suggestions?

    Hi All,

Here is a new version of portable VNC working with 2.5 FW.

What's new in this version :

+ Compile/Port on latest version of PSPSDK
    + Support >= 2.5 FW
+ Add Support for DHCP (works now with my wifi router)
+ Bug fix (exit hangs) on FW >= 2.5

My contribution on this app is minor (only code rewritting to fit new interface of PSPSDK,
and copy/paste wifi code from psp-ftpd).
I just wanted it to work on my PSP 2.5.

I've not tested it with 2.6, but it should work properly.

Portable VNC is distributed under GNU licence, and sources are provided with the archive.

    Hope that helps,

    Cheers, Zx.

This weekend, we are very happy for good progress of PCX4ALL: Playstation1 emulator for Dreamcast, GP2X, Zaurus, Zodiac, GNU/Linux and Windows.

I just have been able to adapt PCSX CPU recompiler for SH4 by Mark Grilenkov and Dreamcast gets 14fps using our GPU software render for a lot of games. I hope get fullspeed (frameskip0) when we will write a new GPU using PVR hardware aceleration.

DCiberia comments and shows a set of screenshots and a video running PCX4ALL under Dreamcast (register is need it).

Majesco's E3 line-up has been revealed ahead of next week's show, and showcases an exclusive focus on handheld platforms. The 2006 show includes four new titles previewed across Sony PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS.

Guilty Gear Judgement will launch on the PSP and combines two games into one package. The arcade fighting game Guilty Gear X2 #Reload will be accompanied by a brand new side scrolling game.

On the Nintendo DS, MechAssault: Phantom War will be a third-person shooter based on the Xbox series and will offer 20 types of vehicles, including Mechs, Tanks, Turret and BattleArmor. Monster Bomber is an arcade game where you fling different coloured balls on the Touch Screen to hit rapidly descending, multi-coloured monsters on the top screen.

Cooking Mama, which is the third DS game in the line-up, is a more novel title. It features 76 different recipes, and you use the touch screen to chop, slice, pan fry, knead, grate, mash and peel ingredients. You can then share your recipes and saved games wirelessly with other DS owners. ...

At its press conference on Tuesday, Nintendo will officially unveil its next-generation console, the Wii. It is expected that executives will demonstrate the console's full set of functionalities, which is known to include the now-famous "nunchaku" motion-sensing controller. The company will also likely reveal the official titles of previously announced first-party games, such as Super Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3, as well as possibly revealing some new Wii titles.

Today, though, some of Nintendo's press-conference thunder was stolen when the first copies of Time arrived on newsstands. The May 15 issue of the magazine has a lengthy article on the Wii, titled "A Game For All Ages," by technology correspondent Lev Grossman.

Grossman traveled to Nintendo's headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, and was shown the Wii by legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. The reporter was especially impressed with the Wii's controller. "It's part laser pointer and part motion sensor, so it knows where you're aiming it, when and how fast you move it and how far it is from the TV screen," he said. "There's a strong whiff of voodoo about it."

More importantly for Nintendo fans, the Time article revealed several key pieces of information about Wii games. First, Grossman described using the Wii playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. "Now I'm Errol Flynn, sword fighting with the controller, then aiming a bow and arrow, then using it as a fishing rod, reeling in a stubborn virtual fish," he said. While Nintendo confirmed the much-anticipated GameCube title would have some Wii functionality, this is the first official description of what said functionality is.

Time also revealed the existence of not one, but two previously unknown Wii games. First up was the first next-generation installment in the popular WarioWare series. While he didn’t give a title for the game, Grossman did describe its gameplay in detail. "In one hot minute, I use the controller to swat a fly, do squat-thrusts as a weight lifter, turn a key in a lock, catch a fish, drive a car, sauté some vegetables, balance a broom on my outstretched hand, color in a circle and fence with a foil," said Grossman. "And yes, dance the hula."

Besides discussing how the next Madden NFL game will play on the Wii, the reporter also describes playing an unnamed tennis game. "The controller becomes a racket, and I'm smacking forehands and stroking backhands," he said. "The sensors are fine enough that you can scoop under the ball to lob it, or slice it for spin. At the end, I don't so much put the controller down as have it pried from my hands." ...

I took a 9:30 a.m. EST flight out of Atlanta this morning, en route to Los Angeles, and on the way to gate A17 I happened upon the latest in vending machine technology: the Zoom Shop. Using the touch screen to the right, one can purchase (with an accepted credit card) any number of little gadgets to enjoy on the flight: all styles of iPod and associated accessories, along with some gaming goodies care of a Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP ($79.99) and Sony PSP ($249.99). A convenience for sure, but there weren't any games to buy -- what a tease!

TIME recently spent a "hot minute" with Wii's WarioWare. It's more of the same, that is, "manic five-second mini games ... [with] a zany, cartoonish, game- show bent," but now it's all controlled with the wiimote. Just imagine the (reinvented) possibilities:

    Swat flies
    Squat-thrusts (weightlifting)

Turn a key in a lock
    Catch a fish
    Drive a car
    Sauté some vegetables
Balance a broom on an outstretched hand
    Color in a circle

    Fence with a foil
    Dance the hula ...

Here's another snap from the pre-E3 LA Convention Center, this time of Silent Hill: Origins. Common sense dictates that this is simply an alternate title for the forthcoming PSP remake of the original game, titled Silent Hill: Original Sin. Rampant desire and unlikely to be fulfilled dreams, however, suggest that it's the name of the gloriously rendered PS3 version of Harry's twisted quest to find "a little girl with black hair" and his occasional run-ins with deranged cultists, meat monsters (with sewing machines for hands) and deserted wheelchairs. I can hope, right?

It's great that the original game in an excellent series is being revisited, but I'm dubious of how well a portable platform will be able to reproduce the qualities of Silent Hill. Immersion may be difficult to pull off successfully in a handheld device, but given its video and audio capabilities, the PSP is likely to be the best choice for a survival horror title.

The TIME Wii tell-all has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will feature Wiimote-specific functionality. TIME, trippin' off a self-confessed Errol Flynn flashback -- now that's old school! -- got a chance to use the Wii controller to sword fight, aim a bow and arrow, and reel in a "stubborn virtual fish."

While the details of the play-test where limited, the revelation suggests that Twilight Princess will play a major role in the Wii launch lineup. Twilight Princess is no longer a Wii-functional GameCube title. Uh-uh, Zelda just upgraded to next-gen status. ...
