I think to many people bad mouth the Revelution for it's new innovative designs and plans, and I don't know why. Of course you have your oppinion and if you don't like something i can't make you like it.

Whats so bad with the Revolution that all over forums and the web there is only people talking about how much they hate it. And most people post flame on the Rev without even doing the research first; so I'll tell you what I like and hate of the REV, and Iv'e done the reasearch too so I know what I'm talking about.

    Controller
The Rev controller I think is one of the best ideas in video game history, they're not just remaking the Gamecube with better hardware and releasing games that we'll just get sick of in a few weeks. They're adding a whole new type of gameplay to the scene; and this isn't something that we'll get sick of in just a few months. This is something so new that we might never get tired of it. Oh and one important piont. They are releasing a shell for the controller that looks just like the gamecube controller. So your not just getting this whole new gameplay but we also keep the old way too. This is what most don't know.

    Graphics
Nintendo has annonced that the graphics will be the same or better then all other consoles so don't worry about this. The HDTV thing won't happen till 2008 and I seriously doubt everybody gets a new TV every year so don't worry about this either. And I really won't mind much to buy an adapter for it. and HD support might still be implimented.

    Kiddy Image
All should know that Nintendo is going to lose their Kiddy image ex: the more adult games they're making and the new Rev design are big examples. and they say that they're are going to make more games directed to older gamers. So more games like Resi 4 and the like, the new Zelda game and the new parental code lockouts for adult games are big evidence of this. So be at rest, they said they wan't to target all age groups.

    Other Notes
You all should like to know that Nintendo is actually making a very smart desision. Without the hype of the new innovative designs and gamplay the next Nintendo console would just be another graphics pushing machine that offers gamers nothing that they can't get in an xbox 360; and they would slowly fade off into the history books like sega and atari before them. They're making their last move, and they're gonna make it a big one, one that could win the markett or lose it. Because they're defiantly goning to lose it if they do nothing. They have the money to do it and the backup money, so if they do end up losing it at least they will still be in business. They really have nothing to lose. Oh and by the way they are not losing their developers, believe it or not they are actually gaining developers because of their new controller.
I think the Rev is going to succede and is one of the greatest ideas Nintendo has ever made. All their mistakes in the past they're now fixing up with the Rev. I used to not really like Nintendo alot, of course I loved their older consoles but I wasn't a fan. That changed when I read about the Rev, and have now gained a whole new faith in them and I guess I'm a fanboy now. All the PS3 and 360 are doing is making them more powerful and giving them more features. They're getting away from their roots as a gaming console, infact I think it's safe to say that they're entertainment computers now. Not Nintendo all they're focused on are games, and making games better and funner for everyone. The PS3 and 360 are focusing on everything, like music and movies, and I think it's going to show in their games. Everything Nintendo has done bad in the past they're now fixing with the Rev.

If you have questions ask them, because I can probably answer them. ...

The same way Apple made sure to let anyone who owns an MP3 play it on their iPod, Sony must embrace the fact that people will download movies and television shows from their P2P software and will want to watch it on their PSP. Without doing so will only push to further increase the marketshare of Apple’s latest iPod with video and god forbid Apple come out with a portable media player with a bigger screen.

In their article, Attack of the Playstation Hackers, BusinessWeek writes about a man who was able to put his hundreds of movies and TV shows he his 1GB memory cards. That’s cool and all, but still way too complicated. Not to worry though because hackers will find a way and create programs that will make the device even more easy to use and useful in the future and you know this won’t sit well with Sony who will probably think of ways they can shutdown hackers because the free stuff they do doesn’t help out their profits.

A month later, it followed with similar upgrades for U.S. users. Sony officials won’t say whether they are considering suing hackers. “We cannot guarantee PSP hardware that has been modified,” says SCEI spokeswoman Nanako Kato.

If profits are made from games and videos sold, why not let the device prosper amongst the hacker community so it becomes even more enticing to the mainstream community. Isn’t it better to have people buying 1M PSPs because they think they can do cool stuff with it and buy games and movies, instead of 1,000 people buying them because they know they can just play games and watch movies with it?

Would the first Playstation been as successful without the ability to add a modchip and therefore play burnt games? How about the XBOX? We all know Linux wouldn’t even be close to where it is without the ability for people to dig in and hack it to death so why aren’t larger companies pushing aside their old mentalities and embracing the hackers?

David Prochnow, a technology writer, says the PSP had all the potential of a powerful multimedia device but was “crippled” by its software. Using a soldering iron and a screwdriver, he tore open his PSP — and now it prints photographs, shares music with other portable players, and runs all types of converted video files. “Any, and every, PSP owner can become a hacker,” says Prochnow, whose book, PSP Hacks, Mods and Expansions, goes on sale in December.

To me that is so cool and if I didn’t have a PSP already, reading that would definitely entice me further to get one. Instead I get to read this paragraph next:

Sony says it can stay ahead of the hackers. With recent updates, the PSP can now play a variety of music formats and podcasts, as well as digital video clips downloaded form the Net. In October, Sony added its newest option — a LocationFree program that lets users stream videos to the PSP by tapping into a PC or DVD player at home over Wi-Fi or broadband connections.

You can stay ahead of 1000s of hackers just like Microsoft can keep their Operating Systems secure. If anything use the hacker community as a radar for what might be popular and then develop programs and functionality around that. Make it official and you have just added a couple more customers. Doesn’t it make sense? ...

The next generation of gaming is here, incarnate in the Xbox 360. Everything’s bigger, faster and better — including its power consumption. After testing the 360’s power intake, CNET found that it sucks in more electricity than any other home entertainment device, save big screen HDTVs. That’s some electricity bill, amounting to $10 to $35 annually.

This is approximately twice the power required by a Mac Mini, but less than a high-spec gaming PC draws. We have yet to see how the other next-generation consoles compare, but we may well find similar power consumption figures, a hidden extra cost in the console’s price. ...

Fox Filmed Entertainment sees the Sony-led Blu-ray high definition DVDs winning the next generation DVD technology battle on the back of widespread Hollywood support and the release next year of the PlayStation 3 video game console, Fox‘s co-chairman said on Thursday.

"In terms of the number of companies involved, the PS3 (PlayStation game console) momentum and the level of content that is committed to Blu-ray, it does seem to have a pretty strong lead," James Gianopulos, co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, said at the Reuters Media and Advertising Summit in New York.

"We believe that Blu-ray not only has the superior technology and backing in terms of strength to market but also the superior content protection," Gianopulos added.

The media and technology industry is racing to offer next generation DVDs that offer higher definition video amid a spike in sales of flat screen high definition television sets, but many in the industry are concerned the dueling new DVD standards will confuse consumers and slow early growth.

The Sony (6758.T)-led Blu-ray DVD technology, which will be built into Sony‘s PlayStation 3 video game console next year, is fighting a consortium that includes Toshiba Corp. (6502.T) that has developed the HD DVD format.

Gianopulos said Fox has no plans to release movies in HD DVD. ...

Woogal who is a god amongst us has released his port of Duke Nukem 3d to the GP2X, now you can play the classic First Person Shooter on your GP2X. Some Info:

Sound seems to be ok now (still no music though). Loading and saving appear to work fine, but saved games are not compatible with other ports of Duke3D so you won't be able to use the same saved games on your PC. Each save takes up around 1mb, so make sure there's enough space left on your SD card.

Upon recent investigation of the CCT Game Calendar 2006, Revolution Report managed to discover that a developer by the name of NIBRIS has a game in development titled Raid over the River, which, according to the calendar, is slated for release on Nintendo's next-generation console, code-named the Nintendo Revolution.

Revolution Report contacted NIBRIS directly for further insight into the matter. According to Piotr Orlowski, the game's project manager, NIBRIS "would like to do this game directly for Revolution and DS," adding further that "only Nintendo platforms [will] get this game." Responding to why Raid over the River would only come to Nintendo's console rather than Xbox 360 or PS3, Orlowski stated, "Nintendo is our life. We have all of the Nintendo consoles; we are fans."

When questioned on whether or not his company had received a Revolution development kit, Orlowski said, "To be honest - we don't have a Revolution development kit yet, so we're doing a version on PC but we have a lot of ideas [of how to] use the Revolution controller." For Orlowski, the "idea of the Revolution pad is almost like a beautiful dream."

Regarding the issue of having a pubisher for NIBRIS' game, Orlowski responded, "We don't have a distributor yet but some of them are speaking with us." Apparently, NIBRIS contacted Nintendo of Europe to discuss publishing Raid over the River, but was told that "the game wasn't in [NOE's] target."

For more information about NIBRIS and Raid over the River, visit the developer's Web site here.

Revolution Report wishes to remind readers that this is not an official confirmation. We will have more on possible games for the Nintendo Revolution as it becomes available.

It would appear that the Sony Corporation (known for their world-class rootkits) paid graffitists to paint pictures of children using their new PSPs on city walls. Sony "artists" (corporate operatives?) have even been caught in the act of painting advertising campaigns on public walls. Note that these are not paid-for billboards or advertising media, but illegal graffiti in the first place. Beyond that, Sony is attempting to co-opt the subculture and possibly even artistic integrity of real graffists to sell more PSPs! Luckily, people have started to paint back and show that corporate vandals are not welcome." Though it does appear the vandal depicted is copying the image off of a sheet of paper, there's no real proof of Sony's complicity. Take with a grain of salt ...
