Liquid8 has released an FTP client for the PSP, heres the scoop from the readme file:

A basic ftp client for the PSP. Began working on this in August, 2005. By August 23, I was able to successfully transfer a file via ftp to the psp. I just started learning C about a month earlier, and played around with some of the sdk samples. When I saw the ftp server, I knew a client was needed, mainly as I wanted to do PSP 2 PSP transfers. My original and eventual goal is to create a file sharing program, to make it easy to transfer files back and forth without a USB cable.

My intent with this is more to make the functions available for other programs to access ftp as opposed to a full out ftp client, but I at least have working standalone functionality available for standard use.

    Usage:

When entering text, use Up/Down to change characters, and Left/Right to adjust, and X to confirm.

Once connected, L/R will change the command, and X to confirm.

Note: I HIGHLY recommend turning off the WLAN Power save in your PSP configuration menu, as this seems to really slow and/or cause problems.

Fanjita on his site released a new Eboot Loader for the PSP V2.0 Firmware, heres what his site says:

This is a tool to run homebrew EBOOT programs on your v2.0 PSP. It will not run on any other firmware version.

It's very much work in progress, but can load a surprisingly large number of existing EBOOTs.

To use it, download the zip file here and unzip it into the root folder of a memory stick, and use the PSP photo viewer to open the "EBOOT loader" folder.

Please let me know if you are able to get any interesting EBOOTs to run, or details of any EBOOTs that it is unable to run, so that I can try to enable them.

Nintendo has blamed the GameCube for a loss in first-half profits, which forced the gaming vet to lower its full-year sales target. Slumping North American sales of the GameCube and its software continue to foreshadow the console’s imminent demise, which may be closer than previously projected. Nintendo’s senior managing director Yoshihiro Mori spoke frankly at a news conference in Osaka, stating, “The big drop for GameCube games was in North America. It looks like the product’s life is nearing its end.” Nintendo had expected to sell 2.8 million GameCube units this fiscal year, but is now prepared to lower that estimate. Looks like a Revolution is exactly what Nintendo needs… ...

Platform holder Microsoft may face a new piracy threat, as reports surface of ten Xbox 360 development kits being stolen from a warehouse in Duren, Germany, with the hardware believed to have fallen into the hands of hackers.

According to an article on Spiegel Online, the shipment of ten dev kits was delivered to a warehouse in Germany in unmarked packaging. The kits were supposed to be distributed onwards to developers in order to create games for the new console platform.

A few days after the shipment went 'missing', photographs of the kits appeared on the Internet, with the serial numbers edited out. Police raids in Austria and Germany recovered three of the units, but seven kits remain untraced at present as the investigation continues.

Microsoft's original Xbox console was plagued by piracy and modification, including the installation of mod chips which bypassed DVD region encoding and copyright protection measures. Pirated software and modified games which gave players an unfair advantage in Xbox Live matches have also been prolific on the Xbox.

In a recent interview with Gamespot.com, Microsoft's chief executive J Allard suggested that piracy on the new console was a given, which the company has already accounted for.

"The philosophy that we applied on 360 is 'It's going to happen," he said.

Allard also hinted that the inevitable bypass of security measures was less important to Microsoft from a financial perspective, but significant in its potential to ruin the online multiplayer experience for genuine customers.

The improved community gaming and media functionality of Xbox Live is a key strength of the new console, which Microsoft is hoping will attract a wider audience of casual gamers when the new console launches in Europe on December 2nd, 2005. ...

    from GIBiz

Xbox corporate VP J Allard has confirmed that while Microsoft is doing all it can to meet demand for Xbox 360 at launch, there will be "some disappointment" for retailers and consumers.

Speaking to our sister site Eurogamer.net at the X05 event in Amsterdam, Allard said there was an ongoing discussion around the "allocation issue": "It's a dialogue with the retailers, and it's not just by territory, it's also by country, and so at an event like this we can actually get some feedback from the retailers... So we can adjust our allocations."

Allard blamed the potential for shortages on the constraints of trying to develop silicon techniques and include the most advanced technologies within the 360, adding that any such shortages will not be concentrated in specific regions.

"We decided we're going to take a little bit of heat on allocations, frankly, in all the territories rather than take a lot of heat in one or two territories," he said.

"So, we're not saying Europe comes four months later, we're saying Europe comes now, but with that combining it with the physics properties of the silicon means we're going to have some disappointment in terms of what we can provide to retail and ultimately to the consumers this year."

"But that's okay, because we want to get the market started. We want to get started on a worldwide basis, we want to do the right thing for gamers, for our publishers and for consumers," Allard added.

He went on to concede that the Xbox 360 launch won't go without a hitch - admitting that there are "logistics issues" to be dealt with.

"Do I think [the launch] will go flawlessly? I don't, but I think it's the right thing to do."

"It's never fun to work really really hard and then get heat from the media, from retailers, from the consumer because we didn't have enough of the things or because something wasn't quite as perfect as we'd like it to be in our execution, but the team signed up for it, because it's the right thing to do."

Allard declined to offer any details of the 360's launch day software line-up but did confirm that Microsoft is hoping for "All three of the first party titles to be there on day one."

"We're hoping, though. We're not going to sacrifice quality to do it," he said.

"If something's not ready we'll hold it back... I mean these games are not far from being done, and if they're three weeks after the launch or they're on launch day I don't think it makes a significant difference." ...

    News from Lik Sang

Cast your minds back to Grand Theft Auto III, driving around Liberty City for the first time in 3D, working for the man, Toni Cipriani. Well now Rockstar are taking us back to the old neighborhood with an entirely new game, made exclusively for the PSP. Set three years before the events of the PS2 title, this time around you're playing as Toni Cipriani himself. Fresh out of hiding, Toni is keen to get his foot in the Mafia's door, and being GTA, we know he'll do whatever it takes.

Traveling through the city doing we won't say what, you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of GTA San Andreas, like wild motorbikes and the ability to play dress-up with your gangster. New weather effects like snow also give you a fresh take on the city, and after skidding around in the winter weather, fans will no doubt get a grin on their face when they take that infamous monorail for a ride once again. For those that did play GTA III, you'll be able to appreciate the city's past, with different businesses and buildings present this time around. Using a new ferry too, you'll be able to travel between the three islands in style, unless you'd prefer to take a boat of your own of course.

Remember the radio commercial in GTA III about a reality show called "Liberty City Survivor"? What was a joke back then is reality now. For the first time, you and five others can go multi-player on Grand Theft Auto! The first of seven game types is Liberty City Survivor, and it's a kill or be killed world out there. You can take it on alone, or join up into gangs. The second mode is "Protection Racket", where your team is either the Attacker or Defender, and must destroy or protect the four limos the defending team has. Each having a go at both roles, who ever takes out the limos the fastest wins.

Next up is "Get Stretch", which is like capture the flag but with cars. Nab the other gangs car, take it back to your base, but at the same time make sure no one is boosting your car either! With 60 controllable characters to be unlocked, there's plenty to choose from in multi-player, and we can only hope this is the start of a new tradition for GTA titles.

Ok, heres the deal. I used wifi to replace my firmware, and I used the NDSPatch to load games onto my 512 x-rom cartridge. Everything is working great. So far I have gotten metroid, castlevania, and a couple other games to play just fine. I have 3 questions though.

    1) Warioware Touch won't play. I read it has something to do with "unlocking" it? Can anyone shed some light?

    2) More importantly is there a working multiboot program for NDS roms?

    3) Is there anyway I can use my x-rom cart for both NDS and GBA roms at the same time? It sucks have 1 NDS rom on there and I cant use the extra space for any GBA roms.

    Thanks in advance ...
