It cannot REALLY go back to 1.50 as the PSP doesnt (to my knowledge) have a backup ROM firmware.

I would speculate that a Flash CRC error or the like has occured.... resulting in the value in flash which stores the firmware revision has become corrupted.

I will put money on it that you cannot run homebrew.

Surely Sony would have put v1.52 on the UK PSP's from the start and not updated them all to V1.52 from v1.50?
