Question about screen on PSP

I was wondering about the screen itself. I see all these items for protecting the screen from dust and scratches. Isnt there a covering over the LCD screen itself much like a cell phone has? (i.e. Nokia Nage) Or is it exposed without any type of primary covering?

OF course there is glass infront of screen if there wouldnt no 1 would buy even for like 10 (well maybe me)

so basically your buying a protection screen to keep the glass area from getting scratched. Well thanks for the reply, very much appreciated
