    Default Ads

I'm looking at the front page of DCEmu and this ad is up there:

    Dreamcast backups $4 Each
Plenty of titles to choose from. All the popular game titles.

Someone might want to complain to google about this one, if they aren't selling original copies...

EDIT: Yeah, I just visited the site and they're talking in their FAQ about needing boot discs and not coming with manuals or anything. Any mods wanna email me at the normal place I'll give you the URL the link leads to.

EDIT 2: I just submitted a comment to the AdSense people on Google about that site the ad links to and told them that legitimate DC sites don't want to be associated with such BS (I'm sure you guys don't!), and to please remove it!

Google is completely assinine in the handling of their ad system.

Both the staff of DCEmu.co.uk and it's host, NGEmu, know of the ads - there was another one on there that was spotted and posted on the staff forum.

As I posted in staff, I don't get why Google doesn't have "backups" in a word filter for their ads or *gasp* actually screen the ads before they put them into their system.

I'm sure it all equates to revenue. Google would rather get the cash from advertisers than have a legal ad system.

I wish people wouldn't use Google ads at all because of this - but in today's market there's really no alternative that gives the kind of revenue Google ads do. When you give free hosting, and still need to pay for bandwidth, there's really no alternative.

Google should be held responsible by the IDSA (or what ever they are now) in my opinion for promoting these "services", as they do very little to keep them off their system. Maybe that would wake them up, and they'd actually become a legitimate ad banner system.

Yeah, it's a problem... maybe the dcemu admins can put a little thing about the banner that says something like "DCEmu.co.uk is not responsible for the content of this ad:" just so people realize they aren't promoting warez.

That's actually probably the best feasible idea anyone's come up with concerning those Google ads. For as many times people have complained about them to Google, they are still there.

For the time being, I've gone ahead and added a small disclaimer around the ads on the forums.
