Default dreamcast linux - different window manager

Hi, i'm no linux guru, i'm just really fiddling with my dreamcast for the fun of it. Does anyone have a link to a site (or instructions/help) for compiling for DCLinux? i'd like to try a different window manager (FluxBox), or is TWM the only one that will run on the DC's limited hardware. Thanks, bob...

Quoted from Ron in another thread:

    OK, here we go

    and http://linuxdc.sourceforge.net/

For NetBSD just use the search in the page, a lot of info is compiled about.

With this you wouldn't have any problem approaching to Linux in Dreamcast.
    Good Luck

NetBSD it's probably much better for systems like the dreamcast. It's designed to work specially well in many kind of embedded systems. It will suit better on a dc and that's the main reason of the dc port being still worked on and not GNU/Linux
NetBSD does work even in a toaster, lol: http://www.embeddedarm.com/news/netbsd_toaster.htm

thanks for that, i'm currently downloading netbsd-dreamcast.iso but still interested in playing with linux. i followed the links and did all the cross compiling stuff and d to compiled fluxbox into my dclinux distro's directory. i also had to alter /usr/local/bin/startfluxbox so that it pointed to the relative directory in dclinux, but when i try to startfluxbox i get this:

/root/.fluxbox/startup: /usr/local/binbsetroot: cannot execute binary file
/root/.fluxbox/startup: /usr/local/bin/fluxbox: cannot execute binary file
    /root/.fluxbox/startup: /usr/local/binfluxbox Exec format error

i suppose this means i have compiled wrong somehow...

if any one can shed any light on this it would be appreciated...

but i'll be trying NetBSD when it's downloaded too, does it come with a slightly better window manager than DCLinux's twm or is it just a console distribution?

    cheers
