    1. OtherOS

The easiest way to run your own code on the PlayStation3 is through Linux which you can install as alternative OS. Several restrictions regarding the RSX, but it seems to become better regarding 3D acceleration since the new MESA 3D GL was released with CELL support.

    2. BD-Java

A few days ago I reported, that the developers of demonhades.org found out, that BD-Java still works if you correctly burn it on a Blu-Ray disc. With the FreePlay's minimal BD-Java SDK it's quite ok to develop Java for PS3.

    3. Flash

Since FW 2.0 till FW 3.0 there was the so called Informationboard. This is a simple .swf file on the HDD and can be replaced with knightsolidus' HDD decryption methode. As the informationboard.swf does not run in a sandbox there's a lot possible but sadly it was removed in the actual FW 3.0.

    News/release from Quipeace

    Hey all ,

After long hours staring at my screen figuring out what went wrong where I think it's finally time to release what I've been working on the last couple of days. There is still lots to put in and refine but it handles basic operations very well.

Inspired by the handwriting calculator from nokia labs, I started working on this, never knowing that it would turn out much and much harder than I first expected.

    Features:
    Basic math operations: (+, -, *, /, ^)
    Multi-digit support.
    Handwriting recognition (now using graffiti).
    Undo/erase last input

    Still to come:
Multiple gestures for a single operator.
    Parenthesis.
    Custom graffiti

Conle over at Neoflash has posted a rather awesome tool for genesis roms, heres the release info:

All the project is coded in C and supports GCC 4.3+ new function allocators.
Also to port this project to another platform all you have to do is to checkout "port.h"
in "framework" directory , add your own directives/code and then make sure that you
have ported the "directory_iterator.c" so that it uses the native functions of your OS.

Please keep the code clean and optimized as it is now. Thx.

    What this framework can do:
    -Supports .SMD,BIN,GEN roms
-Is able to patch region code with simple commands
-Is able to patch linked roms with .IPS translated files on-the-fly
-Is able to patch IO device addresses
-Is able to patch all information without writting low level code
-Is able to recognize incorrect checksums and re-calculate & patch them
-Is able to convert roms to BIN(clean dumps)
-Supports bitfields for easy and efficient patching
-Includes a smart directory iterator for direct access to the wanted content
-Includes basic html generator for info dumping

I havent played on my GP32 for ages but tonight the new release from Slaanesh may just give me the reason to get my gp32 and relearn how to stick homebrew on it.

Heres the release news from Slaanesh:

It's been a long time coming, the finally version 1.0 of MAME4ALL GP32.

With all the development I've been doing for the A320 Dingoo, I wanted to step back for a moment at get this out the door.

Many people will consider the GP32 dead - and for all intents and purposes it probably it is. I would say that most users have ditched it in favour of a GP2X, A320 Dingoo or even a PSP. I still have my GP32 and I can't bear to relegate it to storage. For me, it's what really piqued my interest in the handheld emulation scene - though I arrived on the GP32 scene way before it started in 2001.

    Anyway, here it is.

There's a few changes from the Beta - most notably are the controls:

    - Joystick: Up, Down, Left, Right of 1P.
    - Buttons A,B,L,R,SELECT,START: Buttons A,B,C,D,E,F.
    - Button SELECT+R: Insert credits
    - Button SELECT+L: 1P Start
    - Button START+B: Pause
    - Button START+R: FPS display
    - Button START+L: Profiler display
    - Buttons L+R+SELECT: Exit to selection menu to select another game.
    - Buttons START+SELECT: MAME menu.

Overall it's faster, much more stable and supports a few more games.
Most things work - including the ability to take PNG snapshots of games (though they will need to be rotated/flipped due to the GP32's non-standard video memory arrangement).
