Koei has changed its plans for the previously PS3-exclusive titles Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm: The Hundred Year War, revealing that they'll now be heading to the Xbox 360 next spring.

Both games are pencilled in for a March 2007 release on the two next-gen consoles, Fatal Intertia - if we remember correctly - being a futuristic racer with fancy weapons and physics, and Bladestorm the latest troop-commander from the Omega Force team, the chaps behind the Dynasty Warriors series.

There's no 360 screens as yet, but we'll let you know when any new media or info arrives. ...

A new teaser trailer and screenshots are shedding fresh light on Dark Sector, Digital Extremes' intriguing third-person action game that was first unveiled in 2000.

It's the first we've seen of the project in some time - in fact, we have to trip back nearly a year for the last info, when it was revealed that the dev had ripped out the original space-based theme for its project and replaced it with a scenario that finds players battling in a near-future where bio-weapons have unleashed hell and havoc.

You play Hayden Tenno, a character with the ability to morph into different combat forms - you get a glimpse of him in the new trailer.

Dark Sector is currently carrying an autumn 2007 release date, and we're expecting it to hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Get teased by the first of many official blogs on the game.

Firm also predicts console shortages will boost 360 sales

Nintendo is expected to deliver between 150,000 and 200,000 Wii units to North America every week until the end of 2006, according to the latest report by Lazard Capital Markets.

All the major new hardware manufacturers should benefit from impressive sales where units area available according to Lazard's Colin Sebastian, who noted: "Our retail checks and comments from specialist retailer GameStop indicate that there is strong demand for PS3 and Wii ahead of meaningful replenishments, while the Xbox 360 appears to be benefiting from new console shortages and the release of new title Gears of War."

Sebastian also expects the sale of PlayStation 3 software to improve by the year end, stating: "We note that the initial PS3 tie-in ratio is a little light of expectations, however, we expect follow-up game sales and holiday gifts to provide a boost by the end of the year."

For some industry watchers it might be stating the obvious, but ahead of the Thanks Giving weekend in the US, the firm also predicts strong sales for software including, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Resistance: Fall of Man, Guitar Hero 2, Call of Duty 3, WWE Smackdown, Need for Speed Carbon and Final Fantasy XII.

More interesting is the estimation that between 10 and 15 per cent of all PS3 purchases may have been bought with the intention of being resold by profit-minded consumers.

"We estimate that approximately 20,000 PS3s have sold on eBay since pre-orders for the console began last month, with an average auction price of approximately US $1500," said Sebastian.

Microsoft Corp., the world’s leading maker of software, is earning money selling the Xbox 360 hardware, according to updated teardown analysis from research firm iSuppli. The information means that the software giant has managed to lower the price of its latest game console by nearly 40% in one year.

According to iSuppli’s most recent analysis, the premium version of the Xbox 360 game machine equipped with hard disk drive has a manufacturing and materials total of $323.30, based on an updated estimate using costs in the fourth quarter of 2006. This total is $75.70 less than the $399 suggested retail price of the Xbox 360. Even though it is obvious that Microsoft still has to subtract freight, toll, retail partner’s profit and other possible charges, it is highly likely that Microsoft has either managed to reduce its loss to minimal, or is making a tiny profit selling the $399 flavour of the Xbox 360.

A year ago the total bill of materials (BOM) cost for the Xbox 360 Premium, including hard disk, the DVD drive, enclosures, the Radio Frequency (RF) receiver board, power supply, wireless controller, cables, literature, and packaging, reached $525, well above the retail price of $399, according to iSuppli. Considering the up to date BOM, Microsoft has managed to reduce the pricing of its console by over 38.5%.

The lower manufacturing cost will allow Microsoft to decrease the unit price of its console or even introduce a new version featuring more capabilities at the existing price tag. For example, Microsoft could equip its Xbox 360 premium with HD DVD drive and selling it at $399 still maintain price $100 lower price compared to Sony’s PlayStation 3, which is available at $499 and $599.

Microsoft’s arch-rival on the console scene – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. – currently sells its PlayStation 3 game consoles at $241 – $306 loss. If the company manages to trim the production costs by 40% in a year, it will cost $483 to manufacture the $499 version of the PlayStation 3 and $504 to make the $599 flavour.

    Next year, according to rumours

NINTENDO HAS plans to release a new version of the Wii next year that will ship with a HD DVD player, according to industry rumours.

Gameinformer.com quotes Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime as saying that Nintendo decided not to ship with high-definition capability when it launched on Sunday because it wanted to keep the cost down.

However, his words indicate that it may have plans to release one in the future. Later next year Nintendo has plans to release a new version of the Wii and Gameinformer is speculating that this will be when the outfit will stick on the new drive.

A spokesNintendo said that the outfit was "absolutely not currently announcing any plans to upgrade the maximum resolution from 480p". But then again everyone knews that.

However, the spokesNintendo admitted it shouldn't be impossible in theory. In fact, said the spokesman, Microsoft was able to patch the Xbox 360 to support 1080p and Nintendo has already released a patch to allow Wii gamers to transfer game saves to SD cards.

So it could be true. ...

Have an Xbox 360 but secretly prefer your PS2 Dual Shock controllers over Microsoft's offerings? XCM's just released some photos of its latest adapter prototype, the XFPS 360, which include a pair of USB plugs, two PS/2 (the boring kind) jacks, and a place for your beloved PS2 (the fun kind) controller. In some ways, this is just a role reversal for that Xbox controller to PSP hack we spotted last year, don't you think? Anyway, the XFPS 360 hasn't quite yet entered mass production, so we've got no price or availability deets for the time being.

There is yet another upgrade of PSPHost available now primarily for a big bug fix!!

PSPHost 2.0 has no new features but does have two major bug fixes, the biggest one being the simple fact that on a lot of computers (mine not included) NETHOST would not stay running, it would close straight away after enabling it.

So after a hunt for possible reasons why PSPHost 2.0 is here which fixes this bug.

Other fix was the timer for detecting servers was slowed down to stop using as many resources

Hopefully this should be a stable enough version for me to be able to spend some time on introducing some new features again
