Zodttd has today announnced on his site a new game that was shown to me earlier this week, heres his newspost:

For those keeping up with me here at ZodTTD.com, I have been fairly quiet as of late. That usually means I’m working on some new projects, and this time is no different! Today I bring you the announcement of a new AppStore title I am working on. The game is titled “Wizzley Presto and the Mysterious Time Machine”. It’s a very slick looking action platformer game with some slight RPG elements. Wizzley Presto is rather like the Dizzy series of games you’ve loved in the past.

This development team is kept small, consisting of Craig from the OpenPandora gaming handheld project who will be programming, Ruckage our awesome artist, and me (ZodTTD) to bring in some iPhone experience and get the game programmed as well.

A cool element of this project is the blog. We are doing this game in 30 days, from an idea to a finished product for AppStore. Best of all we’re showing all of what is involved along the way. Expect lots of interesting posts for all those who wonder what it’s like programming a game on the iPhone & iPod Touch!

So be sure to check out Wizzley Presto’s progress on it’s official launch page and be sure to read about the $1000 prize for the first person to beat the game: http://www.30daygame.com

Leave a comment and show your support by spreading the word of Wizzley Presto and it’s 30DayGame project on your favorite sites such as TouchArcade!

In the meantime here’s a video made in the first few days of Wizzley Presto’s progress from the 30DayGame blog:

id CEO Todd Hollenshead remains unconvinced that there's a good reason for "independent, Wii-centric" development. He's willing to hear someone out, he just hasn't heard a good argument for it yet.

Hollenshead, in an interview with GameSpot, was asked if the Wii's meteoric sales and success inevitably meant a shift in resources toward third-party development more suited for that platform. Putting it gently, Hollenshead said no.

If you look at the data, the Wii is Nintendo—and then everybody else. And then among everybody else, it's licensed properties - and then stuff that people lose money on. So, for a really original, game-centric IP, if you're a third-party developer, I would say, "Show me what makes such a compelling case for the Wii.

That's not to say he ridicules Nintendo or the platform. Actually, he brings up a point I think we'd all do well to keep in mind: "Sometimes people lose sight of the fact that almost every company doesn't try to be all things to all people. Nintendo isn't trying to be all things to all people either.

Of course, this will be the year The Conduit finally releases, published by Sega. But Madworld (also Sega) despite a generous run-up of hype and reasonably good reviews, hasn't made the kind of splash on Wii analagous to a typical multiplatform drop on the 360 and PS3. That underlines another point Hollenshead made:

Even if we make an awesome game, there's still a question as to whether we're going to justify our investment. And also, I mean, if you look at the market, the type of games we traditionally make, those games are selling record numbers on non-Wii platforms

Who knew the photo-graffiti mode of the DSi could turn into a poor man's KORG DS-10? Dover, from the site/webcomic Monday Night Crew, found a genius way to compose piano tunes. Watch. I looked on the site for the musical scale picture he created, but couldn't find one. Still, it doesn't look that hard to reproduce. Of course, this depends on an ability to read music or recognize notes, but if you've got that already, then impressing your friends is the easy part. +1 for usage of the Millennium Falcon pic. And the Zelda theme, instead of Super Mario Bros.

When we're not too busy trouncing Halo 3-developer Bungie in "humpday challenges," we fancy ourselves quite the career builders. And so it was with shock that we found ourselves colliding directly with the enormously popular franchise on CareerBuilder.com, albeit under the auspices of Halo license-owner Microsoft. Apparently the company is seeking folks who not only love Halo but also love "building scalable online infrastructure and websites for large and passionate audiences."

What does that mean, exactly? The listing doesn't go into as much details as we'd like, but it does say the job will blend, "console, web, and mobile to create an immersive Halo world that follows the dedicated Halo fan wherever they go." Our thoughts first went to iPhone integration of Bungie.net and future Halo community endeavors but then we realized that Microsoft may want to keep whatever mobile application it may be creating on Windows Mobile-based phones. We're hoping for our future-phone having selves that this isn't the case.

The first proper details on Assassin's Creed II have emerged, following the release of an official teaser trailer earlier this week.

The second game, which is said to be the brain child of an astonishing 240 development staff at Ubisoft Montreal, takes place in 15th century Venice where one of modern day man Desmond's ancient relatives is once again going around stabbing people.

New weapons, smarter AI, a refined mission structure (thank goodness) and even a crazy Leonardo Di Vinci flying machine are promised for the follow up, the new issues of US mag Game Informer reveals.

See the full list of changes, courtesy of NeoGAF, below:

    - 1476, warring families, corrupted clergy, political intrigue, warring city-states.
    - Assassination and executions are common in those days.
    - Post plague era, modern science begins, etc., (basically, a resume of what the Renaissance era was like).
    - Assassins and Templars continue their struggle.
    - Venice and its waterways, Florence and its huge monuments.
    - There is an illustration of San Gimignano's towers, and it speaks of the Tuscany country side. Another illustration shows some boats in Venice's canals.
    - Saint Mark's Basilica. The Grand Canal, The Little Canal, Rialto Bridge, are shown (screenshots compared to real-life shots)
    - Patrice Désilets says Altair was only in the middle of the "timeline", but now you live through the memories of a new ancestor to Desmond.
    - Da Vinci is an ally to Ezio's family. He is like Q in James Bond. Machiavelli teaches you "tactics".
    - "We know that he (Ezio) does end up alone and on a quest for vengeance". Learns to become an Assassin.
    - Ezio can dive into the water in Venice, hide underwater as long as he can hold his breath, etc.
    - You can pull guards in the water to assassinate them.
    - Taller buildings. You can use a new leap maneuver to climb faster.
    - More varied "hiding places"
    - Ezio's infamy grows if makes too much commotion, making people more suspicious. If you become notorious, new missions appear (example: assassinate the witnesses, bribe people, get rid of wanted posters), so you can lower your notorious level if you want.
    - Ezio can disarm enemies and use their weapons against them.
    - Dozens of weapons with their own special moves (pike allows you to knock many enemies off their feet, dagger allows you to do an escape kill of some sort, etc.), can fight without weapons too and do things like throw dirt in an enemy's eyes because sometimes you don't have a weapon (except for the hidden blade and throwing knives), even heabutts! Désilets says that at the end you should become so good with the double hidde blades that you will use them over any weapons. A hammer is shown, a club too, and some blades and an axe.
    - Game is made to address concerns people had with AC1, while staying true to its core. Biggest need was "more variety". AC2 no longer uses the AC1 gameplay loop structure (bureau, info, assassination).
    - Ezio can use boats to move through the canals (in an example of mission variety, Ezio goes to see an informant but they are attacked and you must defend her as you make your way to a boat, then use it to get her to safety). Sometimes those different mission types are mixed together in one mission (example; mission starts as a simple delivery, but ends up as a chase, and finally a kill).
    - A picture is shown of different enemy types. One is really big and fully armored. Each enemy type have their own attitudes and weaknesses. Enemies evolve as the game progresses (first encounter in the game will feel different than later ones). Agile dagger wielders can freerun like Ezio (following him more easily). The big dudes are more deadly in close combat. Spear wielders will look for you moreso, like in hiding places. You can kill enemies from the hiding places (picture shows Ezio grabbing a nearby soldier with his hand on his mouth, emerging from a bay hale chariot).
    - Templars and Assassins are "underground, behind the events, pulling strings".
    - Day and night cycle.
    - Different kinds of objects to find but that actually give you something in return.

Would you look at this. Those folks at Elan Microelectronics might seem a bit slow on the lawsuit front, but they certainly look to have the tech to back up their claims of Apple multitouch patent infringement. They're showing off what they call "eFinger Transparent Touchpad" technology, running on top of Android, and it's looking pretty slick -- we could really get used to this sort of smooth interactivity in Android, lawsuit or no. Check out the video after the break.
