While everyone was paying attention to Square Enix's slowly morphing teaser website, Capcom's own teaser site was undergoing some changes of its own.

To recap, the Capcom site originally displayed the year "1560." The site was linked to off the Sengoku Basara (aka Devil Kings) official site, so we assumed we'd be getting a new Sengoku Basara game set in that year. The franchise is quite popular in Japan, and recently saw a PSP entry.

And then came a Monday update to the site, with the 1560 crossed out, replaced by a 1573. Tuesday came along, and the 1573 was crossed out, replaced with a 1582.

Some Japanese gaming blogs clued us into the pattern here. Those years correspond closely to the time frames for Onimusha, Onimusha 2, and Onimusha 3. Could Capcom be teasing a new entry in the series that we thought would go to the grave with the PS2?

Let's see if tomorrow's update to the site lists a 1596 (or around that time), corresponding to Onimusha Dawn of Dreams.

As for the other player in the ongoing teaser site drama, Square Enix updated its teaser site to place a boy atop the dragon that was added yesterday.

There's still no clue as to the platform for either of these mystery games.

Three-dimensional experiences are taking over the film experience at movie theaters in 2009 and Disney Interactive Studios is leading the way in video games by introducing innovative stereoscopic 3-D features in Toy Story Mania! which features revolutionary innovative experiences using 3-D technology and are the first games for next-generation systems to fully feature three-dimensional stereoscopic technology.

Toy Story Mania! allows the player to choose to turn on special 3-D features in the games while wearing the enclosed 3-D glasses. Using the anaglyphic 3-D glasses, players will see the action extend forward from their television screens in a three-dimensional perspective while playing the games. Two sets of 3-D glasses will be enclosed in each package for players to experience visuals that seem to pop out from their television sets. The glasses enable both players to experience 3-D during a two-player Toy Story Mania! game. Both standard video game 3-D graphics and the stereoscopic 3-D experiences are offered in the games and can be changed by the player.

"Three-dimensional technology drives the future of entertainment and Disney Interactive Studios is leading the way in video games," said Brian Leake, vice president of technology, Disney Interactive Studios. "The stereoscopic 3-D innovation in G-Force and Toy Story Mania! adds to the already fun video game experiences for a wide audience and extends the gameplay by creating entirely new options for players."

Rob Neuman, a leading expert in 3-D technology and supervisor at Walt Disney Feature Animation, consulted on the 3-D effects in the G-Force video game with Disney Interactive Studios and developer Eurocom. Neuman has advised on the 3-D aspects of numerous Disney animated feature films.

"Like the 3-D effects in some feature films, the goal for adding 3-D in G-Force enabled the two miniature creatures – guinea pig Darwin and housefly Mooch – to appear to come forward from the screen, which creates a unique experience for the player," said Neuman. "The dawn of three-dimensional technology in films has taken over the Cineplex and it's obvious that video games are the next medium to see this trend."

Toy Story Mania!, exclusive for Wii, is inspired by the popular new four-dimensional attraction in both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Players can experience their favorite moments from the attraction in eye-popping 3-D from the comfort of their living rooms with family and friends. The popular Pie Throw game from the attraction is represented in theToy Story Mania! training level, and five additional levels based on the attraction are available as unlockables in the game's story mode. Toy Story Mania! will be available in Fall 2009. ...

Bushing posted this over at Hackmii:

Another nerdy post, sorry. I want to talk about this “unsoftmoddable Wii” crap, but I need to go into some background first.

I’ve written in the past about IOS — or at least I’ve meant to — but it seems especially relevant now.

IOS probably stands for “Input/Output System” — because that’s what it does. It regulates I/O between the Broadway (PPC) and most of the rest of the Wii’s peripherals. It seems to have been written mostly from scratch by BroadOn.

Generally, when we talk about IOS, we mean the “firmware” that runs while normal code (game, system menu, etc) is running on the PPC. However, the same codebase is used to build boot2, boot1 and arguably even boot0! You can almost think of it as a set of matroshka dolls:

    boot0 – ~1.4K
    boot1 / BC – ~ 17K
    boot2 – ~160K
    IOS (multiple versions) – ~ 1.8MB each
