Some flight fans were confused to learn that the latest installment in the revered Ace Combat franchise wouldn't be coming to a Sony platform. Every single prior entry had, but Ace Combat 6 is only exclusive to the Xbox 360. Why, we're not entirely sure, but Namco may be rectifying the situation shortly.

According to something N4G noticed in PSM3 magazine's latest feature, "2008: Year of the PS3," it seems very possible that AC6 will be making it's way to the PlayStation 3 at some point in the near future. Here's what the article said-

"Japan's favourite dogfighting series returns with a new made-up war, a brace of superweapons, online co-op and a custom controller for the superfans."

Well, if 2008 is indeed the "year of the PS3," it would certainly help if Ace Combat 6 got added to the system's growing library of must-have titles. There's no official word on this, of course, but it does seem very likely that Namco would be interested in giving the PS3 a series made popular on its predecessors. We'll keep an eye on this and see what happens. ...

Capcom has temporarily pulled down the American PS3 demo for Lost Planet and shut down the multiplayer servers.

It has to address some "issues that have come to light", according to the US PlayStation blog, and a sparkly new version will available as soon as possible.

The error being reported is "not being able to connect to any multiplayer lobby", which tends to make playing with your friends online a little tricky.

Meanwhile, we are still waiting for Capcom Europe to announce its plans for our Lost Planet demo.

Pop over to our Lost Planet PS3 gamepage for more information.

---- So if you are from the US or have a US PSN account, and you thought you was the only one not able to get on. You Ain't the only one. ---- ...

While Far Cry 2 is a wholly appropriate PlayStation 3 release, Ubisoft Montreal are finding development for Sony's platform something of a complex task.

"We were somewhat worried by some of the reported high complexity of developing for the PS3",admitted Technical Director Dominic Guay, "but the raw processing power is impressive".

Guay was speaking to PSM3 magazine.

The task of developing for the PS3 was initially daunting apparently, and compromises have been hinted, however the programmers are apparently "not scared" by the platform, with work on the new title progressing apace.

"One thing that we realized pretty quickly as we started R&D on PS3, was that the hardware architecture had a very nice fit with some of our technical design decisions. We were positively surprised by how efficient the SPUs (the Cell processing units) were to do such things as run our vegetation simulation, our animations or our physics systems. So while it did require quite a bit of R&D to understand how to use the system correctly, once we started having results we saw that it was a very capable console and that FC2 could run on it."

The Blu-ray drive not to mention the PS3's built-in hard disk also offer the developers various opportunities while Ubisoft Montreal do admit the PS3 release is unlikely to match top-end PCs.

    More shortly. ...

I've updated my Flash Advance Pro writing software for the Nintendo DS to version 1.5: The SPEED version.

While tinkering with the AceKard R.P.G. and adding native FAS1 abilities within the AceKard GUI, I stumbled upon an odd reason for flashing speeds on a Flash Advance cartridge to be capped at the speed they were: GUI updates.
It's odd, I know, but simply removing the constant updates to the progress of flashing has resulted in FAS1 routines now programming a Flash Advance Pro cartridge at 9.5 seconds per meg! That's a lot better than the original 18 seconds, no?
This is also pretty much equal to the EZ Flash 3in1's NOR writing speed (9s/meg), so it's win-win all around!
I also threw in GBAFrame support, because why not?

Downloads are available at http://fas1.googlecode.com, and the source has been updated in the SVN. ...

    Hey Guys!

I updated Hexaxis XXI a couple weeks ago but didn't release it due to forgetfulness so here it is:

I tried uploading it but it returned an error, so here is the direct download.

If you love this game - Please donate! Paypal: [email protected]

    Added 3 major items:
    1. Help System
The help system is accessible anytime during play by pressing select. If you select the standard mode, it will already come up. To navigate simply use the left trigger and right trigger. There are 13 steps in the how to play steps. To hide simply press select again.

    2. Pulsating Combo Dice
When you create a combo, the dice pulsate both in color and size to show when they are going to switch to red. This will help people to plan out their moves a bit more wiser.

    3. 3 MORE LEVELS for a total of 7!!!
    Space Dye Vest
    Vertere
    Sleepy Spudgy
    Tornado Card
Re-added Hippie Tie Die (Tie Die Hippie) with slightly different look
Re-added Mercury 42 with slightly better look

I've uploaded a fully tested and working Dreamcast version of Golden Axe Remake to DCEvolution.net:

It's a full remake and enhanced version of the arcade game - Golden Axe.

This game was initially made for Windows by Chinese OpenBoR coder utunnels. I merely did a huge part of the RAM related optimizations for the Dreamcast port and also recorded the music modes.

utunnels helped a great deal with the Dreamcast version too. He vastly optimized the script language in OpenBoR and did many other engine related code optimizations to allow the game to run on the Dreamcast's 200Mhz CPU and 16Mbyte RAM. (In the future we will use the DC's 8Mbyte Video RAM and 2 Mbyte Sound RAM too! )

    -DOWNLOAD HERE-

    Enjoy!

I said I'd never actually work on this game, but here I am releasing it!
So here it is, Quake II for Nintendo DS: http://quake.drunkencoders.com

To play the game you require a homebrew-enabled DS, and some kind of way of playing homebrew on your DS.
You also require a slot-2 card that has a minimum of 16 megabytes of RAM on it. When playing, you do not however need to place the data files and the program on your slot-2 card - if you also have a slot-1 card then you will have better load times if you play the game with both cards in use. You will still need to the slot-2 card inserted to make use of the RAM, though.

    To install:
    - make a directory named baseq2 in the root of your card
    - copy the pak files from the baseq2 directory of your CD or Q2 install into this baseq2 directory
    - download the config file from the web site and place it in the directory
    - from the game archive file take the quake2.nds file, dldi patch it and place it in the root of your flash card
    - plug in your slot-2 RAM card into your DS
    - turn on your DS.

To reiterate - you'll get better performance if the game and it's data files are on something like and R4 in slot-1 than if you put your data files on your slot-2 RAM card. Unless your slot-1 card is a GnM...

    Overclocking memory:
The performance of the game heavily depends on the speed of your RAM. Slot-2 RAM is very slow, but you can overclock it to make it up to 40% faster if you have the right type of flash card. When the game starts, try changing the speed option from slowest to slower or slow and see if the game starts ok. If it does then you're in luck :-)
Don't forget to try memtestARM to see more reliably if you card can be overclocked.

    Lurchy gameplay:
If you experience delays when the game plays a sound for the first time, you should reformat your flash card with the largest block size that you can; I recommend 64k. This is because seeking within 250 megs of pak files is much faster when the block size is larger. Doing this will also improve your load times. Do it!

    About the game:
    - every level is playable in single-player mode
    - there is no multiplayer
    - nearly all graphical effects are done by the DS hardware
    - there's auto and manual saving
    - there's no mod or TC support (not my fault, I'm afraid)
    - there's an on-screen keyboard as well as eight touch buttons (so you can bind functions to them)

    The bad stuff:
    - again, no multiplayer
    - some levels are poorly coded and the performance will hit the floor (in particular security.bsp)
    - GUI Z sorting is broken
    - no sprite rendering
    - some textures are misaligned
    - cinematic rendering is disabled
    - bits of the world will often pop in/out cos the DS GPU is SO overworked by this game! Some boss models have more polys than the DS can render in a frame...

Reasons I'm releasing this early is cos a) I'm too busy to work on this properly b) my computers all have faulty PSUs! c) most of my flash card readers have disintegrated!

Finally, if you enjoy the game and want the bugs sorted please drop some pennies on THIS LINK

    Thanks for playing
    Simon
