Ditlew has released another new release of his alternative loader for Eloader, heres the details:

Beta 3 didn't really give us much feedback, hopefully due to lack of bugs. Anyway, we have fixed the icon code, so it can show interlanced icons. We have also redone the list code to fix a potential problem, and in the process simplified the code even further. This will most likely be the final beta, and we consider it a release candidate. Please bear in mind the following points for this beta release:
eMenu-- is meant to be a simple, fast, stable no bs alternative to the standard eLoader menu.
This is intended for use with eLoader v0.95+
This is not an 'offical' release, it is only a public beta, meant for people to try out and give us some feedback. Don't download this file unless you know how to use a custom menu with the eLoader. If you don't, please wait for the proper release.
No support is offered on this menu yet. If you don't know what to do with this file, don't download it. We don't want you to ruin your eLoader setup.
Although Ditlew has done most of the work on this so far, it's still a joint project, and will be released as a part of the eLoader package at some point in the future.

Moonlight released a ATRAC3 Player for the PSP, heres the details:

This is a sample showing a simple atrac3 player using the libatrac3plus from the firmware.

Warning (to avoid confussion): the use of the libatrac3plus library functions was deduced with a bit of reverse engeneering in the own library and how a game was using it, by hooking calls to the functions and inspecting how the parameters evolved (psplink was of great help, thanks Tyranid for making that beautiful tool)

This program does not pretend to be a serious player, it's only a sample on how to use the sceATRAC3plus_Library, and it have some bugs or incorrect code, mainly:

- The player suposses that all frames of the file have 1024 or 2048 sound samples, which is true in almost all cases, but not always.
- There is a bug in which sometimes one of the threads cannot be created because the previous copy of the thread is already running (probably, because of a deadlock).

My original idea was just to create a simple program that could launch MPHGL and RunUMD at 333MHz without any extra trouble. Then I just added a few extra functions and here we are. These days you don't know what program or if you even can boot your new UMD on your 1.0/1.5 psp so I hope this program will make it a little easier to figure that out.

Which Console was the Biggest LetDown (disapointment) ?

Of all the Consoles i have ever brought the biggest letdown for me was the Panasonic 3D0, it was billed as the next big thing and yes it was a great system and boasts probably the best version of Need for Speed on any Console. But like most consoles that fail it had no support from software houses eve though it had some major names behind it.

Chances are that you first heard rumors about Sony’s Portable TV service (P-TV) for the Playstation Portable when the 2.0 firmware was first released. With H.264 support came news of a new service starting in Japan where PSP owners would be able to download video content directly to their Memory Sticks. Today the service is up and running, albeit with a slightly flawed business model. Read on to find out why and see examples of how it works.

Portable TV – what is it?
It’s a service where registered users can download video content formatted for PSP directly to it. Some content is free, most will cost you a few hundred yen to download. Here comes the flawed part, the download is DRM-protected, and you only have a limited time in which to watch your download, after that you will have to pay up again. The time allowed ranges from 5 to 30 days on most downloads.

The video format varies from standard 4:3 to glorious, native resolution 16:9 for newer content. Presumably, the files you can download here are digitally signed to bypass the native resolution limitation. And it looks good!

The service requires you to run at least firmware version 2.60, so if you for certain reasons want to hold on to that 1.5 one, you’re out of luck. If you don’t have a wireless network at home, you can also connect a USB cable from your PC and download it directly to the PSP that way.

Payment is by credit card that you register when you first sign up for the service. While there are a few things that could appeal to a Western audience, you’ll need a valid Japanese mailing address to be able to sign up for the service.

Homer/Heather has released a new game for the PSP which takes on the theme and gameplay of the game Harvest Moon.

The Downloads come in 2 parts with the data and eboots for v1.0/v2.0 in one zip and v1.5 eboot in the other.

Apparently this game is fully modable in its current form so maybe we will see some mods on the horizon.
