It seems one naughty tester has filmed and leaked some brand new footage of the Halo 3 multiplayer beta for your viewing pleasure.

They weren't stingy about it either - there's nearly seven minutes of viewing gold in there, and as well as seeing the Zanzibar remake, Last Resort, you will also see some of the new weapons and vehicles in action, unfortunately backed by one of the worst tunes we've ever heard.

You'll bear it though. This is Halo 3. Zoom over to YouTube right now to see it before it's removed.

Japanese games magazine Famitsu has slated Super Mario Galaxy for an October release in its latest list of release dates.

Now, this list could just be a projection of expected release dates, but when it's Famitsu you're talking about, there's always the suspicion that, as is so regularly the case, they may know something we don't.

If the game does indeed release in Japan in October, we hope Nintendo's translators have got their speed hats on because we're expecting it over here before Christmas. You promised, Nintendo.

Also in the list, courtesy of Kotaku, is Wii Health Pack, which it has down for July. No sign of Metroid Prime 3, though. Hmm...

SEGA Europe has detailed its summer line-up, beginning with the PSP platform puzzle game Crush on May 25. Crush is set within a complex, hypnotic 3D world, where players will use the game's unique crush mechanic to transform the 3D game world into a simplified 2D platformer.

Up next is SEGA Presents Touch Darts, pencilled in for June 22. The game will use the DS stylus to bring the pub game to the dual screened handheld. Expect a host of mini-games and multiplayer modes.

A week later on June 29 comes Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, a compilation of Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2 with new ad hoc multiplayer modes made for the PSP.

The PSP love continues in July with the release of Alien Syndrome, a fast-paced action-RPG which will be released simultaneously for the Wii. Both versions will take advantage of version specific hardware including full motion controls for the Wii and wireless multiplayer on the PSP.

Finally there is Sonic Rush Adventure for Nintendo DS. The sequel to the well received Sonic Rush is currently planned for an autumn release. This time around Sonic and pals will be setting sail battling against a host of new enemies including pirates.

    Hi everyone,

I've released a new version of fMSX-PSP. Here are the new features:

    * Added support for cartridge type selection in the System menu. This adds support for games like Zanac Ex, which are not detected correctly
    * Preliminary ZIP file support. Emulator will load ROM or DSK files from a ZIP file, provided there's only a single compressed file per ZIP. System ROM's must still be uncompressed (or GZIP compressed)
    * GZip file support - emulator can load cartridges and disk images from gzip compressed files. Save states are also much smaller in size
    * GUI changes, wording changes

You can download the program here:

    Thanks

    New release from Sleepy

    Devhook Firmware Installer v0.6i

    About:

This program was originally created by tommydanger, as a n00b friendly way to install new scary firmwares into Devhook easily. I simply modified it to make it neater, have wider compatibility, and also support the newest firmwares. I also made it so I could win some rocks in flatmush's little contest. I have now updated it to support more firmwares (for decrypting) and for running on more firmwares too.

    To Use:

Extract everything to the root of your memory stick, put your firmware of choice in the root of your memory stick, and then run and enjoy!
Read the readme for further instruction and other news.

    Works With:

This program will run on 1.00, 1.50, 2.71 SE (all), and all OE firmwares. Please don't email me asking why it doesn't run on your 3.03 or 3.11 firmware PSP anymore.

    Changelog:

    Version 0.6i
*Added full support for firmware 3.40 (please note that devhook doesn't support 3.30+)
*Bug fixes (not all fixed, check out readme for more info)
*Added newest Devhook and folders for all the firmwares you could decrypt (though unsupported)
*Added firmware 1.50 as an example of where to keep FWs (much confusion on that point)

Video game publisher Alten8 has announced that they are releasing Wordsnake for the Nintendo DS. They are also planning to bring the game on the PC and the Nintendo Wii.

    About Wordsnake:

In Wordsnake, the aim of the game is to build words of 3-8 letters from the random selection on the tile rack, and reach a target score before the time runs out. Each new word is placed on the board from an existing letter tile, forming snake like structures, which means the words must begin or end with the existing letter. Consequent tiles will disappear after a set time, which means the gamer must form new words to keep the snake alive and invalid words will reduce the players score.

New features include the ability to randomly shuffle letters and move letters to a second tile rack to help with word construction. Special tiles let the player gain extra lives, decrease/increase remaining level time. As the player progresses to each new level, they will have less time to complete the level, the target score will increase, and extra walls will appear that curb the playable area.

Paul Andrews, CEO, Alten8 says, “This is yet another great example of not only the growing portfolio of Alten8 titles coming to console , but also how smaller companies can work in co-operation to create a wide variety of addictive quality games to a world market.”

David Greenberg, from Pixel Magick quoted, “We are very please that Alten8 will be bringing this game to a larger audience and the DS version, with its use of the two displays and touch screen, makes good use of the hardware and is looking especially promising.”

Wordsnake for Nintendo DS has been developed by Pixel Magick and is expected to release soon. ...

Despite rumors to the contrary, and a less than enthusiastic statement by Perrin Kaplan, VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs for NOA, during a podcast recently about Wii continuing the shortage malaise, it seems you may be able to buy a Wii at some point in the future. The company has been accused of holding back production to build hype for the console until fall of this year when a few AAA titles are expected for release. Somehow this equates to people buying the console in droves this fall. Except the main flaw in that theory is people are currently buying the console despite software being lackluster overall. We would not like to play ports.

We haven’t checked yet, but the 12 consoles per Best Buy store yesterday will probably snatched up by 9:00 am countrywide. Nintendo’s PR team sent out an email stating that production should be ramping up. Well, that’s how it appears as a specific comment regarding production levels wasn’t mentioned. No official press release has been sent out, but The Consumerist posted the item up on their site. The email is the epitome of PR speak in that it lauds the Wii while providing no real information other than, “Hey, we’re gonna make some Wii’s in the next month!” ...

News from Noobz of an update to the Keyboard driver:

At long last, the new and updated version of πKey is finally released.

This version brings the following major updates:

A new keypress mode, which allows more natural use of the keyboard in action games etc. The default mode is now keypress mode, and the keyboard will switch automatically to text input mode when required.
Custom key-to-button assignment - so now you can define WASD buttons for FPS game movement, as well as cursor keys for XMB movement, for instance.
Support for mapping keypresses to analog joystick movements.
Support for converting keypresses into Danzeff OSK presses - so now you can use your physical keyboard with homebrew that uses the Danzeff virtual keyboard - e.g. AFKIM.
Installer now fixed to correctly install to flash0, to support GAME150 homebrew.
Palm UW keyboard ought to at least partially work, but I can't test it myself.

    Optional on-screen status information.
    Various minor bugfixes.

You should read the information in the docs/ folder in the release for more details about these changes, as well as instructions on how to install and configure πKey correctly.

There are a few known problems:

Multilingual support isn't great. Especially, the Sony OSK uses different key layouts for different regions, these are not correctly supported yet.
The Danzeff plugin occasionally misses keypresses when you type a lot of text at once.
When putting the PSP in standby, πKey doesn't usually recover properly when power is restored.
It has only been tested on 3.10 OE firmware. It ought to work on other OE firmwares, but I haven't tested it myself.
