Pharonyk posted a 3.40 fix for his Lolstation release:

Heres the full info of this release:

This Homebrew will flash two files to your flash0 to allow you to have a custom boot and play PSX games. If you didn't know, having a custom "opening_plugin.rco" (boot) would interfere with your PSP POPStation..

I have provided an edited "game_plugin.prx" with PSP's default "opening_plugin.rco" that is renamed to "0pening_plugin.rco". So you don't have to worry about anything, unless you don't have any free space on your flash0.

    WARNINGS:
    1. Be sure you have some free space in your flash0 not Memory
    Stick.

    2. Have your battery recharged.. (atleast 80%)?
Also have the AC Adapter plugged in..

    3. There is always a risk of bricking when you flash any type
of file so beware of your actions.

I'm not responsible for any bricks at all!

    Instructions:
    1. If you have any custom boot, just go into recovery, flash0
usb access, and replace the "opening_plugin.rco".

    2. Copy "LOLstation" and "LOLstation%" to your PSP's
    Game or Game150 folder..

    3. Run LOLstation and you should be lollerfine. roflordia!

Hope you didn't just eat lunch. Silent Hill: Origins is back, and it looks better than ever. Turn off the lights, get your security blanket, and snuggle up to these devilishly violent videos of the game in action. The game seems to have moved away from its Resident Evil 4 inspired camera, while gaining some context sensitive action buttons. Of course, none of this analysis will really matter as you watch this bone-chilling footage.

Remember, kids. You have to be 18 or older to see footage from this obviously M-rated game.

    News/release from Gibbocool

Well for a college assignment I had to make a Scrabble Helper for PC. It was quite a challenge and I enjoyed doing it. So now I have decided that it would be much more useful on a portable computer, so I decided to put my PSP coding skills to the test and port it to PSP.

I started about 6 hours ago and it's working pretty well if I do say so myself

So what is Scrabble Help you ask? Basically it's something that will help you in a good old game of Scrabble. You know scrabble right? Say you have a set of letters "JTRA". The program will search a dictionary for all possible words you can make out of those letters! So in the above example it would return:
    ART, JAR, RAJ, RAT, TAR.

Neat right? Wait! There's more! The program also supports wild cards. A wild card in Scrabble Help is "_" (underscore). That means it will substitute any letter in the alphabet to try and make a word. Words that are found with the underscore have that letter displayed in lower case. For example if you have "JTR_", the program will return:
aRT, cRT, JaR, JeT, JoT, JuT, RaJ, RaT, ReT, RoT, RuT, TaR, ToR, TRw, TRy.

Right now there is a limitation that only the first 175 or so words that are found will be displayed because the screen isn't big enough to display any more I'll be working on that some time though.

    To Do:

Improve interface and allow more words to be printed
Allow user to change minimum amount of letters in a word
Give the scrabble score of each word

    Installation:

Copy the folder "scrabble-help" into your GAME directory if you are using a custom firmware.
If you are using FW 1.50, download the kxploited version.

With a certain portable system from Nintendo breaking hardware and software records, you just knew there was going to be good news overall for the game industry come the end of the fiscal year. Sure enough, 2006 was a record year, according to Japan's Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association (CESA).

Mainichi.com and Asahi.com, relaying an announcement from the firm, report that worldwide game industry related shipments totaled 1,632,300,000,000 yen (approximately $14.2 billion) for the year. This is the highest figure since CESA started providing reports in 1996. The previous record was in 2001, where a hot PS2 pushed shipments to 1,457,400,000,000 yen.

This figure breaks down to 958.1 billion yen for hardware and 674.2 billion yen for software. Both of these figures are also new records. Software sales had previously peaked in 2000 at 570 billion yen. Hardware had previously peaked in 2001 at 930 billion yen.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Nintendo's hot portable was mentioned by CESA as reason for the record number. The dual screened device in both its original and redesigned "lite" forms accounted for 30.9% of hardware sales, beating the PSP's 20.1%, the PS2's 18.8%, and the PS3's 18.5%. It was the same story in software, with the Nintendo hardware taking 34.8% of sales, beating the PS2's 29.8%. The PSP got just 7.9% of the total.

Surprisingly, when you look exclusively at Japan, where that certain portable system is fast on its way to topping the PS2 in lifetime sales, 2006 was not a record breaking year. Japanese shipments reached 679.9 billion yen, down some from 1997's record 760 billion yen. While hardware, with 266.5 billion yen in sales was at an all time high, the 413.3 billion yen in software could not compete with 1997's 580 billion, despite beating 2005's 310 billion by a wide amount. As reason for the strong sales in 1997, CESA stated that software prices were higher that year. ...

Square Enix is all set to release its biggest DS title yet, Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings. Japan's gaming press has been covering the gambit out of the game leading up to its Thursday Japanese release, with previews, interviews and even the first spoiler-filled strategy guides.

We'll hold off on our own preview until when we have the game in our hands later this week. But prior to that, we thought we'd translate a few bits from a recent interview with the monthly Nintendo Dream magazine in which Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto shared some thoughts on the future of the Final Fantasy series, with particular attention to how it applies to Nintendo.

Nintendo Dream first noted that this was Hashimoto's first appearance in the magazine. Hashimoto himself admitted that he hasn't appeared in an all-Nintendo magazine for quite some time. In fact, after jointing Square Enix in 1995, his first work with the series was as promotions producer for Final Fantasy VII. This was, of course, the first time the series moved away from Nintendo platforms.

Moving away from the history lesson, Nintendo Dream asked Hashimoto to comment on what makes Final Fantasy what it is. "For Dragon Quest, we're developing DQIX with the series founder, Yuji Horii, in the central role," responded Hashimoto. "But Final Fantasy has a different producer and director for each title, which is why we've been able to release up to part 13. However, with the director and producers continuing to change, when asked 'What is Final Fantasy?', it's hard to give a clear, concise answer."

The current set of Final Fantasy projects can be divided into four groups, explained Hashimoto. There's the Fabula Nova Crystallis (Final Fantasy XIII) group, the Ivalice Alliance (Final Fantasy Tactics, Revenant Wings) group, the Crystal Chronicles group (working exclusively on Nintendo hardware, Nintendo Dream states) and the Final Fantasy XI group.

For its followup question, Nintendo Dream revealed an interesting bit of trivia about Nintendo. According to the magazine, Nintendo has a gathering which one can think of as a "Zelda Steering Council" of sorts that discusses what's appropriate and inappropriate for Zelda games. According to Hashimoto, Square Enix does not have something like this for the Final Fantasy series. Even the design of the Chocobo characters, for instance, changes with every game.

So what, in the end, is Final Fantasy? Hashimoto attempted to give an answer. "If forced to give the essential common points for FF, there are Chocobo-like living creatures, there are crystals, there's travel via air ships, there are items such as potions... and the genre is RPG. While there are some exceptions, in general there aren't 'sequels,' so the games that are part of the 'numbered series,' will always come to a self-contained conclusion. VII's sequel is not VIII, and VIII's sequel is not IX."

As for the games that did have sequels, including the various Compilation of Final Fantasy VII products, Hashimoto noted that these are developed under the eye of those who made the originals. It's not the case that Square Enix has handed off the FFVII world to an unrelated team.

Although speaking with a Nintendo magazine, Hashimoto brought up Final Fantasy XIII as a comparison for Square Enix's decision to expand upon the FFVII storyline through the Compilation project years after the game's original release. "Different from something like VII, which we expanded upon afterwards, with Fabula Nova Crystallis FFXIII, we've thought about an expansive world setting from the start. Under the idea of wanting everyone to be sucked into the world for 10 years, we're preparing a number of categories." He likened this approach to films like Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

Moving on to Nintendo specifics, the magazine asked Hashimoto for some of the selling points of Revenant Wings. "We're centering it around the story of a new adventure involving the heroes who appeared in Final Fantasy XII. There's content that will make people who played XII happy, and we're also making it easy to get into the world for those who are entering XII for the first time with the DS. The gameplay systems are also made to be easily played on the DS."

Other high-profile Square Enix titles for the DS include Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Final Fantasy Tactics A2. "The DS version of FFCC is, in terms of development, further along," said Hashimoto. "I believe that when you play it, you will think to yourself, 'there is an action RPG this beautiful.'"

Hashimoto made brief mention of the Wii version of Crystal Chronicles. "Recently, I was able to check the progress on the Wii version. It's coming along extremely well. However, developing a game that makes use of the Wii remote is difficult. For our Wii game Dragon Quest Sword, adjustments related to the remote took a long time."

As for other Nintendo-based Final Fantasy product, the magazine began by asking about possible Virtual Console downloads ...
