Bootlegger has released a new application for the Nintendo DS that turns your DS into a spirit level, heres the screen and release details:

Ok, heres my first NDS application - for users with a DSMotion card, a Spirit Level!

Anyone with knowledge of the DSerial cards motion cabilities please post reply on how to add that card in - I have tried using the DSerial code (edge version) but failed miserably
Would also need to know the normal zero level values for the DSerial and what values it return at the max...-128 to 128 maybe like the DSMotion?

OK now Version 0.6 - updated with beta DSerial code. Using example code from someone elses demos, but am confused on potential readings. Anyone with a DSerial card please try and advise me if this works or not! Seems form what I can gather looking at the source that the zero level for the X is 163 and for the Y 133 - is/can this be correct?
    Enjoy

As you will have seen in the last couple of days we are nearing the end of the beginning, the videos are out there with more to come.

So in order to get things moving along to mass production we have to put an end date on reorders and also allow people to take up the empty order places.

Please try to get your REorders in within the next 7 days, don't worry if they don't arrive for a little after that - we will be flexible.

New orders, if you want to order a Pandora (or two) from the first batch you can now place a new order via:

Bank Transfer (tranzfers, xoom, via your bank)
Money Order (free from your bank but you will have to post us it)
    Cheque/Check

The price of a Pandora is $330, please email us to arrange (we need to calculate your shipping method).

    [email protected] or call +44 191 243 2253

You can also contact Evildragon in Germany if that is more convenient / closer for you, or Fatih in Turkey if you are in the Middle east. (I'll update this part when I confirm the right email addresses).

We are trying very hard to get s US$ account set up - we might have the details this week for this. I hope this will help more people to order. We can talk about this if you email or phone us.

You cannot use a credit card.

New orders will be taken for about another two to three weeks (or of course until we run out of places, whichever happens first). During that time we will be moving forward to production.

I'll update this post with any changes or question answers.

Go on, tell me what I've forgotten to mention.

I’ve recently been asked what is involved in porting a Flash game to the Wiz, so I thought I would share my answer.

Normally, you would think that you could grab a Flash game and whack it on the SD card and it should run fine. Although this can be the case, most games will probably need some tweaks. Perhaps ‘porting’ is not the best word - ‘tweaking’ may be better. The factors to look in to are:

Screen size and aspect ratio. Although Flash scales very well (as it is vector based), the game may not be the same aspect ratio as the Wiz. This will either result in bars on the sides (or top and bottom), or worse - visible content around the edges of the game that you are not supposed to see. Making the game the same aspect ratio as the Wiz, or better still the same size (320×240), is the way to go.
Image size. This is related both to scaling to a smaller screen, and to performance. games made for larger screens will have large images, which are scaled down to be displayed on the Wiz. However, any manipulation on the images is performed on all pixels, even if they aren’t visible due to scaling, resulting in a performance drop. If images are resampled so that they are smaller and don’t need scaling on the Wiz, this is much better when they are rotated etc.
Keyboard. The Wiz doesn’t have a keyboard, so you’ll either need to add a virtual keyboard to the game, or map the keys you need to the buttons that best make sense. Although you are able to map keys to buttons through the Flash Player on the Wiz (a very handy feature), it is of course better to build this into the game so the player doesn’t need to change settings per-game.
Mouse. Most games make a lot of use of the mouse. This is emulated by the touch screen, so in most cases there is no problem. However, the touch screen does not emulate mouse-over or mouse-out, which may be required in some games (this is when the cursor hovers over something without the button being pressed).
Sound. Although not so much of a problem, this can be an issue with unsupported sound formats. This is most likely when porting from Flash Lite (for mobile phones) which make extensive use of MIDI. The Flash Player on the Wiz (and the PC) does not support MIDI.
Performance. This is by far the biggest problem. Because the Wiz does not have the power of a PC (the Flash Player performs more like a mobile phone) there is a lot to consider and strip down here. I (through my company) have a LOT of experience here, and it is an area we excel at - one of the big reasons our games do so well on mobile phones:
Bitmaps (Images) are less intensive than vectors
Shapes need to be super optimised (less lines)
Straight lines are way better than curves
Physics need to be ‘fudged’ rather than calculated realistically
Move as little on the screen at once as possible (full-screen scrolling is probably out)
Use fills instead of lines (this is a very big improvement in performance!)
Use alphas as little as possible (massive)
Use flat fills instead of linear or radial (although performance increase is slight here)
Use lower quality vector images in faster moving objects (when you can’t really see them), and swap them to higher quality when the object is stationary
Limit the use of filters. try to fake them with images or other tricks
Of course we are hoping that the next Flash Player on Wiz has improved performance - the testing I have done so far is based on the old (Flash 7) player.

Chris has released Yahtzee for the Wii.

    Added Scandinavian rules
    Added French language support
If you accidentally pick up the dice before you are finished selecting the ones you want to keep, you can now press MINUS to go back and select again.
Highlighting a box on the scorecard will now show you the score you could get by selecting that box.
Game will now not let you roll again if all dice are selected.
Bug fix: using Bonus Yahtzees as jokers in the lower section will now work properly.
Bug fix: game will no longer crash on trying to save if someone has renamed game folder or no SD card is inserted.

Believe it or not, I dig the Lego Whatever series. Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman are fantastic games to play with kids. We’ve heard all kinds of rumors about the next Lego game ranging from Lego: Harry Potter to Lego: Rock Band.

I’m going to add one more to the pack, Lego: Battles. This anomaly popped up on Gamefly only as a Nintendo DS game. Lego: Battles even has a reported ESRB rating adding a tad of credibility to its existence. WB Games, better known as Warner Brothers is listed as the publisher, and since they own TT Games, the people who make the Lego series, this is probably real. Although, I doubt it’s coming out in April since Lego: Battles hasn’t been announced yet.

I wonder what the “battle” part is. Lego tank fights like Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime or Lego: Death Wish. On second thought, we’ll never get Lego: Death Wish.
