Titles up for a steal include Final Fantasy XI and King Kong, which are going for the ice-cool price of £15.97 at Tesco's online store. Better still the site reports that Tomb Raider: Legend, Hitman: Blood Money, Gun and X-Men are on there for available £17.97.

The recently released Ghostbusters movies from an early-in-development Xbox 360 game have been pulled off the web at the request of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

All references to the game have also bee removed from ZootFly's website. When trying to track down the videos, YouTube greets you with, "This video has been removed at the request of copyright owner Sony Pictures Entertainment because its content was used without permission." Whoops...

CVG contacted the developer and was told that the videos were indeed removed at the request of Sony Pictures and all references to the game have been removed from its website while negotiations over the rights continue behind closed doors. Fingers crossed Sony doesn't pull the plug, it was looking good. ...

The UK can expect to get 300k PS3s at launch on March 23, semi-official blog ThreeSpeech has reported.

"We've been thinking/speculating/joining-the-dots/piecing snippets of info together over how many units the UK is likely to have initially (at day one of retail)," reads the site. "The UK market accounts for approximately 25-30% of European business. We therefore confidently predict that the UK will have around 300,000 units at the outset."

If true then that's a lot more than Xbox 360 and Wii launches. "Sticking with the maths, from figures we have to hand, we think this will amount to more than the combined number of Wii and 360 consoles that were initially shipped," adds the site.

Expect word on other European territories soon. ...

TGS 2006: Unreal Tournament PS3 Supports MODs
Microsoft 'quite negative toward user-created content.'
    By Patrick Klepek, 09/22/2006

Amidst all the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 hands-on impressions and high-resolution videos, Gamasutra sat in on a Q&A session with Epic Games' CEO Tim Sweeney during TGS, where he discussed the difficulties and benefits of working with the PlayStation 3 hardware, how game development will change in the future and his enthusiasm for Sony's "enlightened business model" when it comes to online gaming.

Sony's approach will enable Epic Games to grant fans access to create their own content for Unreal Tournament 2007 using Epic Games-released development tools and distribute them to PlayStation 3 users. Nothing like this has been attempted on consoles before because it wrestles control over content from the publishers, but Sweeny says he "would love to transfer this mod community over to the console platforms."

    Read the rest here: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3153936

Mods have and perhaps always will prolong the life of a game and it is interesting that Sony is allowing this, but the question begs to be asked: Will other game companies follow suit? Do you think this move will help the PS3 or hamper it? What do you all think? ...

    News/Release from JasoPSP

I have made a paint-like program for the PSP. It is my first ever release in C. Currently, you can draw lines/scribbles in 6 different colours. You use the shoulder buttons to cycle through the colours. (the colour you are on isn't actually displayed, that may be included in the next release).

It also allows you to save the file as pic.png in ms0:/PICTURE by pressing START. If there is another image in there called pic.png, it will over-write. (I am just a beginner). The cursor WILL be on the picture when it is saved.

You can clear the canvas by pressing SELECT.

New release of the Custom Firmware that also supports the Full Speed Playstation Emulator, heres whats new:

    Firmware Updates:

    * AVC videos bitrate limit patched. The firmware limited the bitrate of avc videos to only 768 Kbps. OE now forces the limit to be 16384 Kbps. (Note: this doesn't mean than the psp can handle such a high bitrate, this means than they won't show error. I don't know which is the real maximum bitrate than the psp can handle at full speed)
    * Speed of OE boot is now ~3 seconds faster than previous versions. (without plugins)
    * CPU speed of XMB can now be changed.
    * Wifi can now work at 333 Mhz!
    * Added access to flash 0 and 1 via usb in the recovery menu, based on the great idea of USBSSS by Booster. Note that writing is enabled, so this is intended only for advanced users that know what they are doing in each moment.(It is not a great idea to change anything from the kd folder). Because of this addition, the rest of flashing options were removed.
    * PSP isos can now be deleted as any normal memstick games. (also the size of the iso now shows fine when you press triangle->information).
    * When formatting memory stick, GAME150, GAME303 and ISO directories will be automatically created!
    * Changes in internal HEN core:
o If a EBOOT.PBP with a plain DATA.PSP had a data.psar, modulemgr took as size of the executable the size of data.psp+data.psar. Fixed. (this fix enables psx games to have plain data.psp without causing a memory error).
o Added a couple of patches found by Tyranid. One allows syscalls instructions to be used in kernel mode without causing a crash. The other allows sceKernelQueryModuleInfo to work with sceInit and previous modules.

    Popstation Updates:

    * The writing is now a bit different. This will avoid "Memory stick blinking too much" bug when using the plugin to load the 3.02 pops.
    * popstation now lets the use of non-encrypted DATA.PSP. If data.psp is in the same directory as the app, popstation will use that as the DATA.PSP of the eboot.pbp. Otherwise, it will use the one from BASE.PBP. A DATA.PSP that imitates the original sony one is included.
    * EBOOT.PBP generated with a non encrypted data.psp won't need the file KEYS.BIN at all. (Note: these EBOOT.PBP cannot work in versions prior to 3.03 OE-C due to a bug that those versions had.)

Check out our Popstation Compatibility List
Got a v1.5 or 2.71 PSP, You need to use this GUIDE to update to the new custom firmware
